Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you record from a 3.5mm input? If I have a mic powered by the 3.5 input, will it work with this recorder?

A: The DR40X does not have a 3.5mm mic input. But, what you could do is use a Rode VXLR+, which connects to an XLR input and drops the Phantom Power to Plug-in power for your 3.5mm mic https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1358231-REG/rode_vxlr_mini_jack_to_xlr_adaptor.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 2. Can I use this stand with a baby pin or junior pin? If so, what product would allow me to do this?

A: Yes, the following unit will support baby pins Please review to see what is available. https://bhpho.to/42I4GPb

Q: 3. Does the new dr 40x allow me to record directly to my camcorder’s / dslr’s soundtrack in real time without having to sync later? If so, where is the “line out” of unit located?

A: There's a line out/ headphone output on the top left side of the recorder. This gives a line level out and your camera takes a microphone level signal, in order for the sound to come out clean in the recoding in your camera SD card you will need a attenuator cable such as the one in the link bellow https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/746645-REG/Sescom_LN2MIC_ZOOMH4N_LN2MIC_ZOOMH4N_Line_to.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 4. Can you use this with a DSLR to record sound?

A: Yes, the DR-40X can be used to record audio for video filmed with a DSLR camera. The audio tracks recorded on the DR-40X can be combined with the video tracks in post production.

Q: 5. Which type of mic can be connected and used?

A: The Tascam DR-07X can accept a 3.5mm connector, and it also supplies plug-in power to allow for a wide variety of compatible options for external microphones.

Q: 6. Is it possible to record from the XLR inputs and the onboard mics simultaneously?

A: Yes. Its on-board unidirectional condenser mics can be set for a wide or tight stereo image, and may be used simultaneously with the mic/line combo inputs.

Q: 7. Are the pre-amps improved comparing to the old dr-40 version ?

A: The preamps are slightly improved from the first version, a audio interface was integrated allowing to transfer data via USB from the DR-40 to the computer , in addition a dictation mode was added designed for human voice recording and transcription.

Q: 8. can it be plugged in to a mixer for live recording?

A: Yes. with the proper (1/4" cables) : https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/828498-REG/Hosa_Technology_HSS_005X2_Pro_Stereo_Interconnect_Dual.html

Q: 9. Does this item suffer from interference when near other electronics such as phones?

A: Yes, it is possible that the TASCAM DR-07X Portable Audio Recorder could be affected by RF when placed in close proximity to devices like smartphones, routers, computers, and other appliances that can generate RF. It is always best to avoid placing the recorder near devices like these and to do test recordings as well as monitor the audio while recording to ensure that noise is not being picked along with the audio signal.

Q: 10. Does it have gain control? The DR-07 has it, but I can't find it in the DR-07X.

A: To adjust the recording level (mic gain) for the TASCAM DR-07X, you would use the fast-forward and rewind buttons. Instructions can be found on page 9 of the manual here: https://bhpho.to/3UKZSaw

We have purchased this bench for our Auditorium grand which is used by several pianists/accompanists. The frustration with our mechanical turn the nobs to raise/lower bench is that each of us sets a different height for comfort. This bench turns a minute log task into a one second event - and zero frustration. And, this was so comparatively cost friendly. Happy!

I bought these to support a pair of Alto Trouper PA speakers to use at gigs in small venues that lack house sound. These are sturdy and the small footprint is ideal.

I got these to hold my new QSC K8.2 speakers. The stands are small, light weight, well made - perfect for my intended use.

Strong stable bowl tripod that fits into carry on. The spec is that the folded length is 19.5 inches. Fits perfectly. Had no vibration with 70-200mm lens with 2x extender, in windy conditions. I had the legs spread to 60 degrees, and had zero concern that the 30 mph wind gusts would tip it over. The bag that came with it is overkill. It is 3 feet long, and wasn't designed for this tripod. My use case is video of mountain wildlife. It handles it.

Cheaper, more durable alternative to equivalent, 2-stage Manfrotto legs. Sturdy construction with adjustable spreader width and leg height. Tiers slide out smoothly. These legs are on the heavy side but they're stable. Great legs for people who shoot in demanding environments and frequently destroy legs yet don't want to hurt their wallet buying expensive replacements every year.

This small stand is capable of putting my new Headrush FRFR-112 speaker at just the right height- between my hip and my shoulder. Plenty sturdy built for this 40 pound unit, it was exactly what I needed. All the On Stage stuff is first-rate equipment. B&H is fast and efficient. I'm a happy noise maker... I mean, musician!

Took a chance on these legs because of the weight capacity needed for a jib that we sometimes use (Seven Jib Compact XL). Never had legs without spreaders, so this was outside the box for me. So far these legs have been fantastic. The weight support is phenomenal and the number of ways you can contort the legs, thanks to no spreaders, makes them so much more versatile than other tripod legs. The icing on the cake is how short they collapse and how low to the ground you can get your shot. The cherry on top is how light they are with the carbon fiber. Used two of these on 4 week long shoots and so far they've exceed expectations.
