The optics used are very good and the image they produce is very clear. So if you combine magnification with a clear image, you will be able to make out detail you could not see with your eyes alone. So the question is not how far you can see but rather how much better you can see an object than with your eyes alone. For instance, with your eyes, you may see a bird in a tree 100 yds. away.
