The 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Tilt-Shift Lens for Canon from Samyang is a wide-angle, full-frame lens fitted with perspective control and tilt-shift functions. A tilt-shift lens allows the user to control perspective and correct convergence of lines within your frame, useful especially in architecture, landscape and product photography. The optical tilt mechanisms enable precise control of depth of field along with perspective control. This 24mm f/3.5 lens is compatible with both digital and film formats with an angle of view of 83.5º and, on an APS-C size sensor, has an angle of view of 56.9º and focal length equivalent of 38.4mm.

The tilt-shift function on the 24mm f/3.5 lens allows adjustment of the focal plane by an angle of +/-8.5º and enables parallel shift of the optical axis by +/-12mm. The tilt-shift section of the lens rotates left 90º (with 30º  click-stop adjustment) and the lens mount can rotate left or right by 90º (with 30º  click-stop adjustment).

The lens is comprised of 16 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical elements and two Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) elements, which reduce aberrations and provide sharp details and accurate color separation. Multi-layered, anti-reflective UMC coatings on each lens element allow even light transmission, minimizing flares and ghosting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to use this tilt shift lens on an L Mount such as the Panasonic S1?

A: Yes, with a lens adapter it will work very well.

Q: 2. Is it normal for the tilt knob to have a little play in it before it actually bites and starts moving the elements? Tried tightening the screw and it still made no difference.

A: The consensus here is that some play is normal. Now how much play is tolerable is a personal decision. If you have had the lens less than 30 days, you might consider an exchange. You may get one with less play or more. Please contact B&H Customer Service regarding any exchange or return.

Q: 3. Can you adapt this to the Nikon Z mount?

A: Yes. Please review the following item in order to use the lens and camera combo. Viltrox EF-Z2 Autofocus Speed Booster Adapter for Canon EF Lens to Nikon Z Camera BH #VIEFZ2 • MFR #EF-Z2 https://bhpho.to/3V8ApWt

Q: 4. Does this lens have a chip to aid with focusing?

A: The Samyang 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Tilt-Shift Lens for Nikon does not have CPU contacts to transmit communication between the camera and lens. It is an all manual focus and aperture lens.

Q: 5. If I use this lens with a Canon to Sony adapter, will it affect the perspective when using the shift function?

A: No, the perspective will not change whether the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II Tilt-Shift Lens is used on its native mount, or adopted to the Sony E-mount.

Q: 6. Can you control the aperture with the camera body, as the Nikon PCE lenses do ?

A: As the Rokinon Tilt-Shift 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Lens for Nikon does not have CPU contacts to transmit communication between the camera and lens, you would have to focus the lens manually and adjust the lens' aperture on the lens itself. You would not be able to adjust the aperture using the dials on the camera body; it must be controlled by the aperture ring built into the lens.

Q: 7. Is this lens better manufactured than its predecessor to resist dust and moisture?

A: Sorry, I never used the previous model so I can't speak to that.I use the lens for architectural work and dust and moisture are not a major issue.

Q: 8. What tulip Lens hood fits on this lens

A: Currently none available.

Q: 9. Can this be used on a Nikon Z50 with the FTZ adaptor?

A: Yes it works on the Z50 with the FTZ adapter.

Q: 10. Can you use this lens on a Sony A7Rii with Nik on to Sony adapter?

A: The manual Samyang 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Tilt-Shift Lens for Nikon can be used on the Sony a7R II with the Vello Nikon F Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Adapter. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/2Wn7Vym

[82 mm (Front)] Aunque su control es totalmente manual (enfoque, apertura), en seguida aprend a manejarlo. Buen contraste y hermoso color, su desenfoque de forma artstica es fantstico. Para un buen enfoque puedes usar el modo Live View de tu cmara y acercar la imagen. Encantado con la compra.

[Manual Focus] I'm a landscape shooter, and for years large format was my system of choice. The film and developing finally got so expensive that I moved to digital 3 years ago. I now shoot with a 5D MK2 and an assortment of Canon L lenses. The camera is great - I love it. The long lenses are also superb, but I have frankly been disappointed with the wide zooms. I've been shooting with a 17-40, the 16-35 II, and the 24-70. All 3 lenses are excellent in the middle and long ends of their respective ranges. However, they leave much to be desired at the wide ends. Specifically, barrel distortion and a lack of corner sharpness is quite evident in each lens, even when stopped down to f/11 or smaller. I have learned that my Canon telephoto lenses are far superior to my Canon wides. Anyway, I finally took the plunge and ordered both the TS-E 17 and the TS-E 24 II. Wow, wow, wow. Barrel distortion is gone, and the corner sharpness is amazing, even when shifted or tilted, and even wide open! Both of these lenses are stellar performers, and what a joy it is to have movements once again. I still don't have rear tilt of course, but rise, fall and front tilt certainly give me back most of the movements that I had with large format. In summary, I cannot speak highly enough about both of these new Canon TS-E lenses. They are expensive, but worth every penny. Great job Canon. I am so glad that Canon has now become a true player in the realm of world-class wide angle lenses.

[1.87 lb] Used mainly for landscapes. Perspective correction and sometimes tilt to adjust focal plane. Very sharp 24mm lens. Good even at the edges especially stopped down one or two stops. Shift works very well even on 5D, a full frame camera. Only down side is its weight and size. Comes with the territory. Also requires a low profile filter like the B+W slim, which does not have an external thread. This requires the use of a slip on cap. Fortunately B+W provides one. Not very secure but will do.

[Manual Focus] Seemed like you can do anything to a image post, including selective focus (for Tilt), transform (for Shift). Why would anyone want to buy a specialty lens like a T/S?

To me it's the creative process of doing a image capture in camera, vs image manipulation on the computer. Plus you use your whole camera sensor to capture an image vs cropping your image on the computer (thereby loosing resolution) to achieve similar results.

Pros: Price, ease of use - remember "manual"? ..focus, f-stop ring, unlocking knos, dials, release lever.. take your time and you will have no trouble with the operation of this lens. Image quality is more than adequate with my D810.

Not the top of the line T/S with the silky smooth operation. If you have to T/S the lens against gravity (like shifting up vs down in a vertical composition, its best to support the lens and help it up instead of using only the adjustment dial)

Having a fine instrument can be a bliss, but the price out weights my occasional need of buying a $2,200+ Nikkor equivalent.

[82 mm (Front)] Great for extending depth of field in landscapes. Pricey, however. Can even be used for macro with a Canon extender.

[f/22] I own the old Canon 24mm T/S lens, though it is a good lens, I consistently had chromatic aberration problems and unsharp edges with it. After researching reviews of Canon's new 24mm T/S and noticing that the price was slightly reduced, I decided to buy the new lens. The construction and design are much better than the old 24mm, but I am incredibly happy with the edge sharpness of the new lens and with the lack of chromatic aberration. I own Canon's 24-70mm zoom and found it sharper than my old 24mm. The new 24mm seems sharper than the 24-70 zoom.

[Canon EF] At last a wide angle offering from Canon that that I am willing give 5 stars. The tilt shift rotate independently of each other as it always should have been. The quality and sharpness is awesome, all the way to the edge. I use it mostly for landscapes and on the first day I got an incredibly sharp shot in some deep woods that just wouldn't have been possible before. Now when I travel light this is on the short list of lenses I wouldn't leave behind. Downsides would be price and size which are both bigger than I wish but are quickly forgotten when you use it.

[f/3.5] This lens will give you creative control over vital aspects of your image that it's autofocus siblings dare not dream of.
