Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the arm's mounting spigot 5/8"?

A: Yes the Auray BA-XE4 Broadcast Arm with Integrated XLR Cable BH #AUBAXE4 includes a 5/8-27 Threaded Mic Stud.

Q: 2. Can the XLR cable be easily removed?

A: Yes, the XLR cable can be removed (and replaced, if required), though it may not be an easy task.

Q: 3. Will this work well for picking up actors' lines for a live theatre event?

A: The Rode NTG2 Shotgun Microphone is highly directional, meaning it will pick up what it is pointed at in a range of 2-3 feet, but not much else. Unless the actors are stationary or there is an operator that will move this mic along with the actors as they move, I would not recommend using the NTG2 for this purpose.

Q: 4. Will this work with an Iphone 12? If so, do I need accessories--which one(s)?

A: Yes. Provided that a battery is installed in the AND you have the appropriate cable, such as B&H # SALCXLR (XLR to Lightning) to connect to the iPhone 12.

Q: 5. So with my black magic camera as long as i have the battery in the mic i won't need phantom power correct?

A: Yes, this is correct. It will run out quite quickly. Between 4-6 hours.

Q: 6. Does this work well with video booths? Like not picking up a lot of the DJ music and crowd talking? I just want to make sure the video recorded you can hear the people talking and making the video.

A: that's kind of a tough question. I love my NTg2 mic, it works much better than I thought using a windscreen and as well as being directional to block out some noise. If you are in a noisy environment why not double up on this along with a lab mic for best results?

Q: 7. Will I have any issues using this with the Tascam 70D?

A: Nope. This has worked great for me with this combo. If you're using phantom power though, the 70D is a battery hog so I also use an external USB battery to power the 70D with phantom running the mic. I haven't tried the battery in the mic yet to compare results.

Q: 8. Does a windscreen come with this mic?

A: It comes with a standard foam cover, which is not designed to block wind interference. You'll want to get a 'windscreen' also known as a 'deadcat' for a shotgun mic to reduce wind pickup.

Q: 9. it is suitable for Blue Yeti?

A: The Yeti is mountable on this arm or a standard mic stand, however would require the optional Radius II mount.

Q: 10. I'm sorry, I should have clarified my last question - I was asking if the stud/spigot that mounts to the base clamp is 5/8" in width? I'm planning on using a different clamp with a 5/8" receiver. (BH#SACSGC) Thank you.

A: The base stud/spigot is not specified.

[Brown] I'll make this simple: These cables brought my noise floor down, and I'm a little upset I didn't start purchasing them sooner. I used to be a bit skeptical about the importance of cables, but I won't be buying anything else form now on.

[Yes] This is a review of the 6 foot Canare L-4E6S Star Quad XLRM to XLRF Microphone Cable. I'm currently using these with the Zoom F3 and Rode PSA1+. It will also be used for portable recording. It's very flexible (though I have no other XLR cables to compare it to.) You can coil it into a 3 diameter round circle without difficulty. It does fit into the clamps on the PSA1+, but I think a thinner cord might fit deeper down in the groove. For a permanent installation, you could probably force it deep down into the groove. The Neutrik nc-mxx connector snaps into the F3 with an elite click. The sound is without any hint of interference. I think the warranty should be longer, but these cables are excellent.

[21 AWG] I didn't believe the hype either until I replaced my good cables with Canare. First, they are just supple and second, the quality of the sound did improve in the opinion of several of us. I can't imagine anyting else for serious audio work.

[Brown] I've been using the Canare XLR cables purchased from B&H for several years now. I setup and tear down EVERY DAY.

Flexibility and lack of noise is excellent especially in rooms where a lot of other electronics are operating. Never a issue with crosstalk.

Best of all the colors makes my setup easily repeatable, dependable. and FAST ! Got to love THAT !!

Many thanks both to Canare & B&H. Excellent product combined with outstanding availability and service.

[Brown] I had read that using a star quad type cable reduced noise. Wasnt sure if it was hype or not. I was using a SM7b mic for voice over work and had to crank the gain since its output is pretty low. Hiss was a problem. Switched to the Canare cable. Hiss was drastically reduced. Switched back to old cable to verify and hiss came back. My other mic cable was a good quality cable in excellent shape and barely used, but the Canare star quad was way quieter and I could easily hear the difference in my studio monitors. For live work I use regular cables sometimes, but for anything in a studio environment, I only use star quad now. On stage I set up and tear down at least 5 times a week. The canare has held up better than my other cables. It seems to have a tendency to twist a little easier when coiling even though I do a forward and reverse technique while coiling. I still regard it as worth it though for longevity and reduced noise.

[21 AWG] Was looking for an affordable cable that came in any other color than standard black and these fit the bill beautifully. Having multiple colors makes set up, tear down and trouble shooting that much easier due to quickly being able to identify the cable sources by color instead of having to trace it back to the connection point.

[21 AWG] Re-cabled everything in a sound room and used these colored cables to keep better organized in the sound rack. They are excellent cables, quiet, and exactly as advertised.

[Yes] Everyone knows about the high end/overpriced Mo'Gomi cables! I'll place my money on these instead! Colors, high quality & more at a FAIR price. Plus, the B&H stamp of helpfulness. I'm 100% satisfied!
