Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What battery does it take?

A: The Battery The unit uses an A23 battery which is located in the Sender. The positive end of the battery should be pointed inwards, away from the cap Twist the cap to turn the unit on or off.

Q: 2. Will I have any issues using this with the Tascam 70D?

A: Nope. This has worked great for me with this combo. If you're using phantom power though, the 70D is a battery hog so I also use an external USB battery to power the 70D with phantom running the mic. I haven't tried the battery in the mic yet to compare results.

Q: 3. How do I know if the mic is on?

A: As soon as you put the battery in then it's turned on. You'll need to monitor it some how, either with headphones or some kind of battery level display. I always take the battery out after i'm done using the mic for a day because if not it will just drain the battery dead in storage because it's always on. What I do is I hook the mic up to my zoom H1. You just need a small XLR to 1/8th input and then you're able to monitor the levels with headphones attached to the zoom H1. I hope this helps.

Q: 4. Can the XLR cable be easily removed?

A: Yes, the XLR cable can be removed (and replaced, if required), though it may not be an easy task.

Q: 5. Does this include the permanent desk mount shown in photo? (Or just clamp)

A: Yes. There are two mounts included with the BA-XE4. One is the C-clamp mount and the other is the permanent flange mount.

Q: 6. How long is the mic?

A: The mic is 11 inches

Q: 7. We need to mount this from a small hole in the middle of a desk. Does this have an option to put a bolt in from the bottom instead of the clamp?

A: This particular stand utilizes a C-clamp only. For a stand that could be screwed into a table, here's an option B&H # ROPSA1.

Q: 8. Will this work well for picking up actors' lines for a live theatre event?

A: The Rode NTG2 Shotgun Microphone is highly directional, meaning it will pick up what it is pointed at in a range of 2-3 feet, but not much else. Unless the actors are stationary or there is an operator that will move this mic along with the actors as they move, I would not recommend using the NTG2 for this purpose.

Q: 9. Is this a stereo mic?

A: The NTG-2 is a mono microphone.

Q: 10. Where is the XLR cable?

A: XLR cables are a required but not included accessory for this microphone. We list several cabling options under the ACCESSORIES tab for this microphone.

[21 AWG] I dont have much to say about the cable other than that is it well contructed and carries a good clean sound. I use it with my MXL 870 and Behringer 1204 mixer and I'm pleased with it.

[Neutrik] I've been using the Canare XLR cables purchased from B&H for several years now. I setup and tear down EVERY DAY.

Flexibility and lack of noise is excellent especially in rooms where a lot of other electronics are operating. Never a issue with crosstalk.

Best of all the colors makes my setup easily repeatable, dependable. and FAST ! Got to love THAT !!

Many thanks both to Canare & B&H. Excellent product combined with outstanding availability and service.

[Yes] I'll make this simple: These cables brought my noise floor down, and I'm a little upset I didn't start purchasing them sooner. I used to be a bit skeptical about the importance of cables, but I won't be buying anything else form now on.

[Yes] Everyone knows about the high end/overpriced Mo'Gomi cables! I'll place my money on these instead! Colors, high quality & more at a FAIR price. Plus, the B&H stamp of helpfulness. I'm 100% satisfied!

[21 AWG] I'm doing a series of round table discussions around the country with eight talent in each discussion session. Because i'm flying to each location, space and weight are at a premium so I'm using a Zoom F8 mixer, HOSA Little Brother 50-foot sub snake and eight dpa 4061 lavaliere microphones plus accessories and a slate. Everything has to fit in a carry in a small roller case and a small back pack so i don't have to check any bags. I'm using eight of the 10-foot Remote Audio cables to split off from the sub snake to feed the lavalieres. I carry a few-25 foot XLR cables as back up's if I need a little bit more reach. The 10-foot cables made all the difference in the world for space and weight constraints due to air travel. I've used Remote Audio cables for over a decade without a single cable failure. Remote Audio makes them tight and right.

[21 AWG] Quiet and reliable Hi-Fidelity.
Not cheap but you really do get what you pay for. Had my studio wired mostly in Canare Star Quad and thanks to relatively clean electricity with Star grounding I am noise free.

[Neutrik] This is a review of the 6 foot Canare L-4E6S Star Quad XLRM to XLRF Microphone Cable. I'm currently using these with the Zoom F3 and Rode PSA1+. It will also be used for portable recording. It's very flexible (though I have no other XLR cables to compare it to.) You can coil it into a 3 diameter round circle without difficulty. It does fit into the clamps on the PSA1+, but I think a thinner cord might fit deeper down in the groove. For a permanent installation, you could probably force it deep down into the groove. The Neutrik nc-mxx connector snaps into the F3 with an elite click. The sound is without any hint of interference. I think the warranty should be longer, but these cables are excellent.
