Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the minimum equipment required to get this working with my Panasonic GH4? Just and XLR to TRS 3.5mm converter?

A: Yes! If your using an on camera solution.

Q: 2. How much weight does it support?

A: This broadcast arm has a payload of 1.8 lbs.

Q: 3. is the cable inside of the boompole?

A: Yes it is

Q: 4. Does the included shockmount work with traditional threaded pole conectivity? or is it only made for camera mounting?

A: According to the info listed there is a 3/8 -16 thread connection at the base.

Q: 5. How long does a single AA battery last in the mic?

A: While there isn't a published run time for AA, as they vary too much and also depend on the chemistry of the battery, on average you can expect around 50 hours (+/-)

Q: 6. Does the NTG-2 have a db pad? Like a -10db switch?

A: No, the RODE NTG2 Shotgun Microphone does not have a -10 dB pad, but it does have a switchable high-pass filter set at 80 Hz which can be used to remove low frequency noise that is not part of your intended source.

Q: 7. What is an affordable Pre-amp to use with this mic for a Nikon D750?

A: I bought the Tascam DR060D MarkII and have been happy with it. I've never used a pre-amp or recorder so it was a bit of an uphill climb to learn a bit about audio production. Now that I've experimented with it for some time I'm quite comfortable with it. It eats up batteries so you definitely want to use rechargeable batteries. I bought a LifeCharge external 16,800 mAh external battery. There's also a power option that works off of house current.Curtis Judd is knowledgeable about audio and he reviews the 60D MkII. You can search for his channel on YouTube. He also has a video wherein he reviews several recorders options. Sorry B&H doesn't want links in my answer.Good luck.

Q: 8. Does this include the permanent desk mount shown in photo? (Or just clamp)

A: Yes. There are two mounts included with the BA-XE4. One is the C-clamp mount and the other is the permanent flange mount.

Q: 9. can this plug into my 5dmk III without using a tascam audio device as a middle man?

A: The Rode NTG-2 is able to be powered via AA battery, and with the included Kopul LMT-100 cable, an be connected directly to the input of the Canon 5DmkIII.

Q: 10. Can you use the NTG2 as a handheld microphone (e.g. for interviews)?

A: You can though Id recommend against it as it is very sensitive and will likely pick up handling noise if hand-held. It is best used on a shockmount or other stable mounting platform. Id recommend looking for omnidirectional or lav mics for interviews! Hope this helps!

[Purple] It's hard to go wrong with Canare Star Quad cables and Neutrik connectors, and there is little to say about them except they work as you would expect and the quality is high. You can find a lot of fancy cables that cost more, but they don't sound any different, that's all snake oil. Star Quad, Accept No Substitutes.

[21 AWG] I'm doing a series of round table discussions around the country with eight talent in each discussion session. Because i'm flying to each location, space and weight are at a premium so I'm using a Zoom F8 mixer, HOSA Little Brother 50-foot sub snake and eight dpa 4061 lavaliere microphones plus accessories and a slate. Everything has to fit in a carry in a small roller case and a small back pack so i don't have to check any bags. I'm using eight of the 10-foot Remote Audio cables to split off from the sub snake to feed the lavalieres. I carry a few-25 foot XLR cables as back up's if I need a little bit more reach. The 10-foot cables made all the difference in the world for space and weight constraints due to air travel. I've used Remote Audio cables for over a decade without a single cable failure. Remote Audio makes them tight and right.
