The Impact Porcelain Socket with Umbrella Mount (500W) is a cost-effective way to utilize a wide variety of E26 (Edison) based lamps for photo or video work. Options include simple household lamps as well as photoflood, quartz halogen bulbs, and LED bulbs. This highly versatile product has an adjustable metal mount with a 5/8" receiver for light stands and an 8mm umbrella receptacle. The Floodlight Socket tilts and locks in place at the desired angle by grasping the stay-cool wooden handle and releasing the locking knob. Lamps up to 500W won't melt the ceramic base which is impervious to heat. The socket also accepts screw-on reflectors of various sizes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi! Can I use it in Argentina? (the voltage here is 220)

A: You will need a step-down transformer to convert the power from 220 to 110 volts AC.

Q: 2. Does this product come with a stand?

A: It does not. You are buying just the metal piece that flares out around the edges of the flash. This is useful for directing the flash a certain direction. You can also have color filters slide in if desired.

Q: 3. Can i use it for my elinchrom light?

A: I cannot help with this question. I use it on an Impact light and it works fine with it.

Q: 4. What is part number of Grid for this kit?

A: My grid came with the Barn Door Kit. Like you have never been able to locate an additional or different size grid for this barn door attachment. Even searched Impact's website, no luck.

Q: 5. Can you dim each light separately?

A: This is a single channel dimmer, so everything that is plugged into this will dim together.

Q: 6. Can this be use for lowel dp 240V light?

A: No. 120v lights only.

Q: 7. Will using this dimmer change the color temperature of the tungsten fresnel light?

A: Using a dimmer on a tungsten light will decrease the color temperature. ( It will get warmer.)

Q: 8. Does this fit on impact vsd300 monolights?

A: Unfortunately, this barndoor kit does not fit the VSD 300 monolights. A better option is the Interfit 4 Leaf Barndoor Set for Interfit Flash Heads - Includes Filter Holder B&H # INBD. Please see the image below.

[1x E26/E27] I use these small strobes in the studio to provide some fill and accent lighting. In the past year I have purchased 7 of these and everyone has performed as expected.

[1x E26/E27] I use these for table-top product and still life and in a tight home studio space. I use them with Impact porcelain sockets and 12 reflectors though obviously these fit in any standard light socket. They provide adequate light for my purpose and recycle quickly enough. Each bulb is packed with a sync cord. The bulbs can be triggered either by another flash or with a sync cord connected to one of the bulbs. To the person who mentioned that the sync plug on the bulb is too deep in their reflector's neck and therefore the cord doesn't have enough room to plug into the bulb, consider the Impact socket and reflector combo that I mention above as replacements; these are inexpensive and will allow the miniplug enough room.

[1x E26/E27] You can't beat the price - and with multi socket adapters, you can combine several make seriously powerful light setups for next to nothing. You just connect the sync cable to one and the rest will be triggered automatically.

Some complain about not being able to plug the included pc sync cable once you screw in the bulb due to the admittedly short sighted idea to place the port in the back, but this is easily overcome by buying a 3 dollar socket extender from Home Depot that easily provides enough clearance.

I would discourage others from buying Impact's porcelain socket with stand/umbrella adapter as a match for this because due to poor design the metal sleeve inside the socket breaks easily. Use a different product/lamp. Nothing to do with these flashes-they are awesome!9

[120 VAC, 60 Hz] Great bang for your buck! My only issue is the placement of the test trigger, its right on the back near the threads so its a tight fit when i screw it in to my power source.

[1x E26/E27] I HAVE ONLY USED THEM ONE TIME, BUT THEY HAVE GREAT LIGHT OUTPUT, I HAD TO USE ND FILTER TO TONE THEM DOWN. I DONT THINK YOU CAN GO WRONG WITH THESE LIGHTS, GREAT FOR THE PRICE.

[10' / 3 m ] I'm a studio portrait photographer and have used this as a hair light for over 20 years. Can't be beat!

[Yes] I use it as the slave, but because I cannot insert a synch cord once I've screwed the light into the socket, I can only use these bulbs as slaves. I can adjust the output by using a set of old barn door I had. Very fast recycle time.

[Yes] I ride a motorcycle and because of that, space is an issue. Using a light tripod as a lightstand, a clip light and this I was able to bring a portable studio in my saddle bag.

[500 W] Bought a new pair of these lights for use in our passport photo room - after 15+ years, we thought our old ones had finally petered out. Turns out it wasn't the lights - they still work perfectly - it was one of the wall-sockets that had to be replaced. At least now we have a backup set!
