Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this tripod have a leveler?

A: Yes, there is a built in bubble level on the P800.

Q: 2. Will a Manfrotto or Giotto sliding plate fit in the slot?

A: Sorry, but we are unable to test this. I did contact Smith-Victor and they were unable to verify. What I can suggest is if you have the head and the Manfrotto and Giottos plates do not work, you could use the Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapter with Sliding Mounting Plate (501PL).

Q: 3. Will this tripod support a DSLR camera, such as a Nikon d5200?

A: Yes, this tripod can support a DSLR. The P900 can support up to five pounds.

Q: 4. Can I move this incrementally up & down?

A: Yes and it has a marking if you need to go back to the same position

Q: 5. What size screw?

A: it has a standard 1/4 inch screw

Q: 6. Can the mount head be removed to add another one I'd prefer? What is the screw mount size, if I can remove it?

A: Yes, the Base Mount is 3/8"-16 Thread

Q: 7. I see that the head has a 90 degree tilt, but I would like to know if the center column can tilt 90 degrees to serve as a lateral arm? Thanks!

A: My experience was best, and continues daily, with another tripod, the Benbo Trekker/ That is a tripod that has your requirement, the ability to hover over a table top.

Q: 8. Does the sliding plate have both 1/4 and 3/8 screw together?

A: No, there are not screwed together, but you have the option of both. The plate is drilled for both options and also includes the screws. I hope it helps your question.

Q: 9. Is this head mostly made of metal? And also, could it hold a 10 pound gear in a steep angle without slippage?

A: It is very sturdy, mostly solid metal constructions. We have a Blackmagic Cinema camera with zoom lens (probably about 5lbs total) mounted on a 90 degree angle and it stays very consistent.

Q: 10. Is the head interchangeable? If so, is there a compatible manfrotto head?

A: Yes, you can remove the Dollypod head and use another. The top screw is 1/4 -20. You can use the Manfrotto 502HD Pro Video Head with Flat Base. It has a 3/8 -16 screw hole. By using a bushing, you can mount this head on the Dollypod. The B&H webpage for the 502HD with Flat Base has an incorrect weight capacity. The correct one, verifiable on Manfrotto's website, is 15 lbs.

[Twist Lock] I've been using this tripod for almost two years. Actually, to be honest I've been abusing this tripod for almost two years. Over +100 gigs it has taken a beating, been exposed to salt water, sand, mud, and has been crammed into my gear cart with lighting and BG stands many, many, many times. Regardless, it has held up beautifully. It's a tank, for sure. I've never had any issue with stability or wear and tear on the twist locks. I'd buy another for backup but I really don't think I'll ever need one. This tripod has held up much better than my Bogen gear.

[36 x 5.2 x 5.2"] Bought this as a second tripod for my small business. It has nice smooth action and is lighter and less expensive than my main tripod. Very portable, yet sturdy enough you don't worry it will fall over. The legs take some getting used to. They telescope and you need to tighten/loosen them by twisting (like my hiking poles!) to adjust leg length. I don't feel it is any more inconvenient than the traditional style of leg adjustment, just a difference. I love the fact that the ruler marks are on there; that helps with adjustments and leveling. I had to make my own ruler marks on previous tripods. One more nice feature is the rubber feet can be raised to expose spikes for better footing outdoors. Very nice addition. There is no case included, but I hardly ever put mine other tripod in its case so... This is a very nice tripod for the price and will make your pans turn out solid and smooth.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] Tripod seems sturdy. I used a cheaper tripod a few weeks ago to record a lecture. Wish I had this tripod. I also bought the carrying case this tripod. It's worth every penny.

[36 x 5.2 x 5.2"] I purchased this tripod to use for interviews and how to videos. Considering the price, I'm totally pleased with the sturdy construction, the ease of assembly, and the smooth panning and tilt. It would be great if this tripod came with a carry case, but my wife is pretty handy with a sewing machine and she made me a one-of-a-kind case, so it's all good!

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] This tripod is used to film church services. It is strong and sturdy and compares favorably with tripods costing several times as much. However, the plate that fits to the bottom of the camera could be a lot larger. It takes too much effort to mount and dismount the camera.
