Tiffen 55mm Warm Black Diffusion FX 4 Camera Filterproduces silky-smooth textures, even in tight close-ups without sacrificing image clarity. Many techniques have been developed for diffusing or softening images, whether to create a mood in a landscape or portrait or simply as an aid to make people look glamorous. This filter offers the most advanced diffuser ever developed by Tiffen and creates a diffused image that doesn't look like it's been shot through a filter.

This filter does spectacular job of suppressing facial blemishes and wrinkles while maintaining a clear focused image. With this filter, eyes stay clear and sharp and it unwanted details are eliminated without being dull or "fuzzy". The bare minimum of highlight flare is produced and the effect of lighter grades is subtle, with higher grades becoming gradually more noticeable.

Q: 1. Does this kit come with a battery and/or battery charger? I currently have a Canon with image stabilization, does this camera/lens have this ability? What is the difference between IS and VR

A: Yes, this kit would include the EN-EL14 battery along with the MH-24 charger. Unfortunately, the lenses included in the kit do not have stabilization built into them. The Canon Image Stabilization and Nikon Vibration Reduction both have the same purpose in mind of allow you to get sharper photos when hand holding the camera and using a slower shutter speed.

Q: 2. what is the diff between EF and EF-s lenses?How important is STM on a lense for this camera?

A: EF lenses are full-frame lenses designed by Canon that are compatible on all Canon EOS 35mm SLR and DSLR cameras alike, manufactured since 1987. All Canon EOS cameras have a red dot on the lens mount and can accommodate an EF lens. Canon EF-S lenses are designed for Canon DSLR cameras that use the smaller APS-C 1.6x cropped sensor cameras. Canon EF-S lenses have a white square on the lens mount, and only attach to the smaller sensor Canon cameras with a white square on the lens mount. STM lenses use Canon's new Stepping Motor designed for smooth, quiet and fast focusing during video recording when using a camera compatible with Movie AF. Video capture is the only time you may notice a difference between STM and non-STM lenses, so if you are using continuous autofocus with the Canon SL1, then an STM lens would be beneficial.

A: The camera can be used for macro photography, however the two lenses included in this kit are not very useful for macro work. You would need an actual macro lens for that type of application. See attatched the Nikon 40mm f2.8 AF-S DX macro lens.

Q: 5. I set time and the date for Los Angeles but when I took pictures it's show different time and date on photos. how can I correct this problem?

A: I would recommend to double-check to ensure the correct time zone was selected, and check to see if Daylight Savings Time is enabled (it should currently be enabled, as Daylight Savings Time does not end this year until Sunday, November 6, 2016 in the United States). You should be able to reset the date/time under the Menu Setup Menu Time Zone & Date menu. The instructions are listed on page 137 of your camera's instruction manual (link included below). A: There is no creative photo button on the back of the D3200.

Q: 7. This camera is compatible with analog 35-80mm lens and flash 380EX?

A: The Canon 380EX will work but not on all functions, such as rear curtain sync. It will work in general E-TTL.If the lens you are referring to is the Canon FD mount 35-70 that will not fit on the camera without an FD to EOS mount adapter.

[Glass] If you're looking at this filter you likely already know what it is for, and sure enough it does exactly what Tiffen say. Optical resolution drops down but contrast loss and halation are kept to an absolute minimum. Strangely, if you look at Tiffen's triangle of diffusion diagram you'll see they put this filter halfway between resolution reduction and halation, implying you will get some soft highlight spreading. You absolutely do not and I don't know why that particular diagram suggests it when all their text and videos say it doesn't cause halation and, as I said, in use it certainly does not. Allegedly on wide-angle shots or when using very small apertures you may see the black dots in the image. I can't say I've noticed this myself, but I only use this for shoulder-up shots, typically 50mm, often at fairly wide apertures, so I'm not in that 'danger zone'. If you want to shot wide and stopped down, maybe take caution and check out the Digital Diffusion/FX instead, which is meant to cause the same resolution drop without the black dots getting in the way. I've had some limited experience with some Tiffen filters having poorly-cut threads, but otherwise the construction quality has been fine. Can't guarantee you'll get a faultless one but the fault rate, in my experience, has at least been very low – about one out of twenty filters having an issue, and even then, not one severe enough to stop the filter from mounting and functioning. 5

[Aluminum] I am a fine atr / abstract photographer. I use this Warm Black Diffusion filter for still life, portrait, landscape and even shots of buildings and vehicles . The color tones of my subjects are very soft...also have an almost ebony hue to them. I seldom use Photoshop...I still love using lense filters. What's not so great? I cannot think of anything right now. 5

[Aluminum] I own two of these for two camera shoots. They produce a nice subtle softening for skin and reduction in overall contrast. Not too much, just enough to take the edge of digital cinema cameras. 5

[Glass] I bought this filter for HDSLR video use. The 1/2 grade provides a very subtle diffusion effect with minimal contrast loss. Ultimately, it takes the edge off of HDSLR video and provides a very close alternative to that elusive film look. 5

[Glass] Most photographers use at least one diffusion filter for portraits, whether a professional whose clients need to look great, or the rest of us who want to flatter Granny at her 90th birthday celebration party. I have kids with iffy complexions in their adolescence and didn’t want to rely too heavily on Photoshop for the fix. For use on my Quattro DP2, this filter does a fine job of holding small details like eyelashes, yet blends blemishes well. (One caveat: a large blackhead or dark pimple may be accentuated, depending on circumstances, so a white diffusion filter or dab of concealer could be needed.) Since the eyes and lashes/eyebrows hold their detail portraits can be very flattering with this Tiffen product. It looks odd by itself as it appears to be glass with a pattern of little black marks all over it, where I more or less expected some type of black screen or grid. Not being an optical engineer and as well as the filter works, I chalk it up to FM. Also, I prefer to use Tiffen products in general as they have always be good quality, competitively priced, and made in the good ol’ U. S. of A.; what’s not to like? 5
