The Porta Brace MB-1 Matte Box Case (Signature Blue) is designed to carry a Matte Box such Chrosziel, Fujinon, Petroff, Tiffen, Vocas, or similar size matte box set-up. It organizes all the parts of the Matte Box; so it can be quickly transferred to the camera lens. The case is made from 1000 denier water-resistant Cordura nylon with a rigid interior frame and a fully foam padded interior. There is a large front outside pocket for accessories and a mesh pocket inside the top that allows viewing the contents. Optional FC-1 or FC-2 filter cases can be stowed inside allowing an entire matte box system to be ready at hand. The case is carried by suede leather-covered carry handles or an HB-10 suede leather-covered shoulder strap.

Q: 1. I want to place all my gear -- including my Canon XA10 and Manfrotto MVT502AM tripod -- into one bag I can pull on wheels. I'll be shooting and interviewing by myself and don't want to lug multiple bags. Is this a suitable choice? Thanks.

A: This seems to be more than commodious for the gear you intend to carry. As a former motion picture camera assistant, I wish to caution that the all-in-one bag works only to and from location. Once on location, one bag is hard to move and it's always far away or in the way. I suggest you group the camera and the audio gear in separate bags in this big bag. This will allow you to work faster, be less awkward on set, as well as at your storage facility. It will allow you the flexibility of taking just the camera or the audio, etc, etc when taking the whole bag is a bad idea.

Q: 2. Hi I appreciate if someone can tell how many inches can be adjusted the height of the matte box in relation to the rods? Thanks!

Q: 3. Is this bag good for the SONY FS7? If not, what is a good recommended bag?

A: It depends what you're planning on doing with the camera really. I do own the case and it is set up specifically for shoulder mounts. I have a Panasonic ag-hmc-80 in it. I use that camera for ENG work so I needed a very fast running and gun case. It works well but has very limited storage for any accessories such as batteries, microphones, or on camera lighting. If you're looking for a run and gun case and or not planning on taking a lot of accessories if It works great. (I have not tried it with a Sony FS7) I will try and load up the consumer photo of the case with my camera sitting in it and you can try and size it up from there. For documentary work I use the Sony FS700 with the pelican 1560 case. The case is fantastic you can even carry a laptop with the included lid organizer. Sorry I could not be more help.

Q: 6. Anyone fly with this bag? Curious if it will provide enough protection from rough luggage handling.

A: The PortaBrace LP-2 Light Pack Case, Medium (Signature Blue) is designed for shoulder carrying and only has two foam padded compartments. It is not recommended for rough luggage handling.

Q: 7. Apart from the retractable handle, how else can you transport this without the wheels..... any carry handle?

A: It has a D rings for attaching an optional audio harness and a Slip-Not anti-skid base.

Q: 9. Is this case suitable use for the O'connor O-Box deluxe set include store the top flag?

A: In this bag I keep my O'Conner O-Box deluxe set with flags, rings, 19mm adapter, a 4x4 filter tray and my entire Bright Tangerine Misfit Atom clip on as well.

Q: 10. What are the dimensions of the side pockets?

[4.8 lb] I was a bit shocked when it first arrived as it is larger than I had expected. That wasn't a problem, just a surprise. In fact, the size worked out quite well for my needs. What impressed me the most was the build quality. This bag has super thick padding, I feel like I could drop this off a five story building and my gear would be perfectly safe. The leather used for the strap and handles is top notch. Everything about this bag is quality. Even the way the strap connects (opposing sides) was very well thought out as it makes it so much easier to carry over the shoulder. I would consider more of these for additional equipment if I didn't already have means of storage. 5

[Zippers] As with all Porta Brace products, the DC-2 is well-made and durable. A 15 laptop computer easily fits inside the case in the padded pocket or, if in a sleeve, the laptop fits in the outside pocket. There's ample room for a 3 3-ring binder, or files, and an Alan Gordon director's finder in its pouch. Or, with the laptop in the outside pocket, there's more than enough room for a Canon Pixma iP100 printer with its accessories. 5

[4.8 lb] I use this bag for toting around my work stuff. If I ever travel with a laptop, this the bag I'll be taking. It's extremely rugged, more than what I'd ever require. And come on, it's gorgeous! Shortly after receiving the DC-2 case, I noticed that its blue fabric didn't quite match the color and texture of the PortaBrace bags I use at my TV job. Having spent a decent amount on this item, I felt justified in contacting PB asking why this was. Within a very short time, I received not one personal response, but two. They took the time to really get into answering my question. They explained that the bags I use on a daily basis at work are worn a bit, and have had the chance to fade. I found this reasoning totally acceptable. One response to my inquiry wrapped up as such, ...a lot of pride went into building the case for you. From our 3 teams in Southern VT, Northern VT and Colorado we thank you. I'd recommend owning this case because, like most American manufacturers, they stand by their products. 5

[4.8 lb] Use it with lots of cine prime lenses and schneider filters. It's by far the most convinient and efficient mattebox at this price range. Using it with 3rd stage add-on and I am very satisfied with the umb-1. Can also add lots of accesories with it's cheese plate on top and nato rail on the side if you want. 5

[4.8 lb] Perfect for my portable audio kit! Excellent design and extremely well made. My kit primarily consists of several Audio Technica System 10 receivers, a Zoom F8 recorder, a Sound Devices MixPre although, since buying the Zoom F8 the MixPre is used mostly for locating problems, and a 72WH Switronix (slimline) battery to power everything in use in the bag. No, the bag isn't big enough for long shotgun mics or blimps, but if it were that big I wouldn't have ordered it anyway. It does have retaining loops for the boom pole. I wholeheartedly recommend this bag, together with the optional harness if you expect to use it for lengthy periods. 5

[18.5 x 9.8 x 9"] Fits a 16 MacBook Pro, full size Apple keyboard with number pad and lots of papers, hard drives etc. It's nice to have a bag just for my computer and accessories instead of taking it in a rollerboard or backpack. 5
