Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this adapter allow to see aperture information in the viewfinder for AI-S lenses? Also does the focus peaking still works?

A: Hi GregI have AI and AI-S lenses so just checked with one of each on a Sony A6000 body. You won't get an aperture number in the viewfinder display with either lens type, but you will have focus peaking with an AI-S lens. (None with AI) You will have a shutter speed indication, EVF information, and a histogram (if enabled in the menus) to help you judge exposure. If you want to work in Aperture Priority then you will be setting this on the lens anyway, and the other factors will be available in the viewfinder. The only other comment I'd make is just to be careful with the silver lens release button on the side of the adapter when changing lenses. Hope this helps.

Q: 2. I'm getting different answers from different sources on Google. So: can you still use autofocus with the adapter?

A: No. Autofocus, automatic aperture and AE metering will be disabled by the lens adapter as there will be no electrical communication between camera body and lens. You will need to focus manually, and to set exposures manually or meter in aperture priority mode.

Q: 3. Will this adapter work with my Zeiss 50/1.4 ZF.2?

A: I used the metabones adapter with my Zeiss 35 f/2 and it worked fine. No lens data to camera but it's a manual lens so you really don't need it.

Q: 4. I have an old Nikkor 300mm f4.5 - will this work if I want to use it with my Sony a6000? I know I'll have to be totally manual with the old lens. Thanks

A: Baseline: It works...I have a6000 and Nikkor lenses F mount being used together with this adapter. I see no practical issue and thus worth the price given the fact you can use all your F mount Nikkor lenses. Beware, auto focusing will not be available in such cases. So this adapter is meant for premium lenses to be re-used here, when you are enthusiastic on manual focus.

Q: 5. Is it OK for the original version of Voigtlander Ultron 40mm F2 SL Aspherical with Nikon F (AIS) mount?

A: The Vello Nikon F Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Adapter has been tested with the Voigtlander Ultron 40mm F2 SL Aspherical with Nikon F (AIS) mount. But technically is should work fine.

Q: 6. Will it work with my old NIKKOR 16mm? The Metabones adapter does not accept it. It Just does not fit.

A: Yes, this adapter will be compatible with the Nikkor 16mm.

Q: 7. Will it work with a Sony FS5MII Will it work with a Sony FS5MII camera ? ?

A: As the Vello Nikon F Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Adapter is a manual lens adapter, yes, you may use the Vello Nikon F Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Adapter to connect Nikon F-mount lenses to the lens mount on the Sony PXW-FS5M2 4K XDCAM Super 35mm Compact Camcorder.

Q: 8. does it has tripod collar?

A: No not to my knowledge

Q: 9. Looking to purchase to use with Nikkor manual primes on NEX FS700. Is there any crop factor with this adapter ?

A: I've used this particular adapter and experience no crop factor. I was using the Zeiss 35mm 1.4 and seemed the same finale length. This is eyed bawled obviously no tests with charts were done. You should be golden with your manual primes...

Q: 10. Will this adapter work with a Tamron lenses for Nikon, 35mm f/1.8 and 16-300mm, on a Sony a7c ii?

A: Yes, the Vello Nikon F Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Adapter is compatible to fit the Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO Lens for Nikon and the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD Lens for Nikon F onto the Sony a7C II Mirrorless Camera body.

[0.25 lb] This adapter fits properly on both the camera and lens ends. It is fun to use these lenses again. The only difference from mounting the lens on the original camera and adapting it to the mirrorless camera is that you have to open the aperture to focus and manually close it to whatever f stop is appropriate. It adds an extra step.

[1.4x] This adapter works perfectly on my A7II with Nikon AIs 85mm. I purchased this adapter to replace an old Fotodiox NEX-NF that was working on my NEX-7, but was not fitting on the A7II.

[Zinc Alloy] I inherited an old manual Nikon with a bunch of lenses and thought that this would be a good tool to get some more use out of the lenses. It works really well with my Sony a6500. Just need to make a note of what the aperture is set to for my records (as with any manual lens).

[Sony E] I have used many different adapters since going mirrorless and Vello has been the best bang for the buck by far. The finish and fit are excellent, at both camera and lens. Mine had no problem focusing older F mount lenses to infinity. Have purchased several other Vello adapters because of results, and they just look and work better than cheap Chinese ones on the "Bay".

[Sony E] Works like advertised. I use it with the Nikon Nikkor AI 35mm F2 (Nikon F Mount Ai) for a Sony a6500; fits tight, focus ♾. Great buy.

[0.25 lb] The Vello Nikon F to Sony E-mount adapter works exactly like it is supposed to.  The lenses attach and detach easily, and they are secure and solid once on the camera body.  With manual focus aided by focus peaking and operation in aperture priority you arent going be doing sports photography, but the leisurely approach gives lots of time for considering composition, depth of field, and excellent results -- especially landscapes, architecture, scenery, and nature photography.  To me, this is what the joy of photography is about.

[Zinc Alloy] This is a wonderfully built, solid metal adapter for manual lenses. The only thing that would really add icing to the cake would be the inclusion of mount caps. For half the price of the equivalent metabones adapter, you couldn't ask for a better product. Unless you plan on using an autofocus lens, this is everything you need.

[Sony E] Works exactly as advertised. I'm using it to connect two lenses from my old Nikon D70 to my new Sony A6000: the kit lens that came with the D70, and a Tamron zoom. Since there is no electronic communication through the adapter, focus and aperture have to be set manually. Be aware that some lenses (e.g. the kit lens that came with my D70) do not have a manual aperture ring.

[Zinc Alloy] I use this on my SONYA7SII with an old manual nikon film lens 70-200. Works well, no complaints. Good construction, does not feel like it's going to fall off. I'd recommend it, fair price.
