It can be used when capturing audio in various environments such as recording studios, live sound and more. It creates the illusion of closer microphone placement so that greater miking distances can be achieved.

The KA 40 is designed to capture more detail especially for orchestras or choruses. The effect is partly due to an increase in directivity, but mainly to the increased midrange response. The low-frequency response remains undiminished. Sold as a single unit.

A: The TTArtisan 40mm f/2.8 Macro Lens for Canon RF will fit and work as a manual lens on the Canon R5. But it is for a crop APS-C size sensor. So it will vignette the image.

Q: 7. Will these work in the Manfrotto Anti-Rotation Adapter (MA244ADPT38A)? Specifically are there threads for the set screw to thread into? I see it comes with the allen wrench, but the picture doesn't show this.

A: Yes, there are set screws and threads for them in these adapters (threads on the back of those shown).

Q: 8. Eye af was solved with Firmware V2. PhillipReeves reviewrs claim it was not, to many miss shot. Can any day to day user confirm or deny that? Thanks

A: Eye AF was improved, but still noticeably misfocused after the firmware. I sold the lens as a result.

Q: 9. Zeiss admitted an issue with the close focus aperture problem as well as with eye-AF, but as of February 2019 I haven’t heard their follow up response yet. Any word?

A: ZEISS is currently developing a software update that will allow the Batis 2/40 CF to work within a large focus range with a wide-open aperture. The update will be available to download free of charge as of April 2019 from the ZEISS website. We will notify all registered customers about the update via email. Once the update is installed, the ZEISS Batis 2/40 CF will only automatically stop down at preset aperture values between f/2 and f/2.5 at a focus distance of between 24 and 65 centimeters – in extreme cases (minimum object distance) to max. f/2.8. With an aperture value of f/2.8 and up, the aperture will remain unchanged across the entire focus range. What’s more, the update will enhance the focus accuracy when using the camera’s eye AF function.

A: This is sharp certainly for the price range corner to corner provided what is in frame is all on the same plane. The lens is coated and you should not have aberration provided you are focused on the closest subject and it will be sharp as long as it is not closer than the minimum focus distance.
