The 4.3x60 HiPo Gen I Night Vision Monocular from Bering Optics is a handheld optic useful for close to mid-range observations in low light or complete darkness. This night vision device (NVD) has a built-in infrared illuminator that is capable of lighting a subject up to 55 yd away. The IR illuminator is controlled by a dedicated button that allows it to be activated without taking your eye off the visual scene.

This configuration of the HiPo monocular has 4.3x magnification and f/1.2 light gathering ability. Additionally, this NVD is capable of focusing to within four feet. The HiPo monocular's image intensifier tube is protected from bright light damage by circuitry that deactivates the NVD when it detects excessive light levels. The housing is equipped with a Weaver rail for mounting additional accessories like a long-range IR illuminator. An IPX4-compliant, water-sealed housing makes the HiPo NVD ready to perform in light rain, high humidity, and even freezing temperatures.

[1x Gen 1] I am very happy with my night vision monocular. I mostly use it for watching animals at night. I go into the woods hunting pretty often and it works well. The only down side is the 3-6x isnt adjustable. Its a set zoom. All you can do is focus it, but for less than 100 yards you can still see fine without large magnification. I would buy again.

[6 mm] Before I purchased the Night Vision Monocular I wanted to know if I could use it with glasses or without. I am farsighted and need reading glasses. Customer service at Luna Optics responded to my E Mail quickly and said yes the diopter correction in the eye piece would work, and it does. I can see the display clearly without glasses, allowing the rubber eye cup to be extended. The rubber eye cup does fold up quickly if you do wear glasses and can still see the entire display. The display is very clear both day and night. With some ambient light, the IR illuminator is not required. For long range (200 yards) the adjustable IR illuminator can focus the IR beam to a spot or broader area coverage. Then, I E-Mailed customer service and asked about battery life and they recommended a Power Pack. I measured the current drain in each mode:
1. Unit on, IR Low, Video off, WiFi off = 390 mA
2. Unit on, IR High, Video off, WiFi off = 940 mA
3. Unit on, IR Med Video on, WiFi on =600 mA
4. Unit on, IR High, Video on, WiFi on = 970 mA
The Capacity for the batteries I have: CR123A -1500 mAh, RCR123 - 800 mAh ,Power Bank 10,000 mAh
For the above modes these batteries will last:
1. RC123A 2.1 hrs, CR123 - 3.8 hrs, Power Bank 25 hrs
2. RC123A 0.9 hrs, CR123 -1.6 hrs, Power Bank 10.6 hrs
3. RC123A 1.3 hrs, CR123 - 2.5 hrs, Power Bank 16.7 hrs
4. RC123A 0.8hrs, CR123 - 1.5 hrs, Power Bank 10.3 hrs
For my intermittent use, which is Mode 1, the rechargeable CR123 batteries are fine (EBL16). When I tripod mount the unit, I used the Power Bank.
The optical 6X magnification is fine hand held, but when using the digital zoom at 36x a tripod is needed for good video and photos.

[93%] I cannot tell you how amazing this monocular is. I am speechless. It is worth 3 times more for what you get. Just buy it, you will not be disappointed. Thank you who ever made this. Also have to say B&H are super professional. Enquired about monocular and got a reply that same day and also a invoice set up if I wanted to purchase it. I was so impress dealing with B&H. Wish we had a company like this here in Australia, thank you B&H

[100mm f/1.2] This is a my first Night Vision, I can not say if it is better or worse than others, but I can say that it works very well, perfect size to take it wherever you go, and it is also very nice.Plus the AA batteries are very easy to find Thank you BH.

[3.3' / 1 m] For the price and the image quality this unit is pretty darn good. Defeintily better than anything Gen 2 and comprable to some Gen 3's. You will need the IR in most cases but the ability to adjust the frame rate is an additional bounus. I've not heard back on its operating range from the company so I'm not sure how cold and heat may affect its perfomance. The only thing I see needed is a way to hook a wrist or neck strap to this unit, but since it had a bipod mount this can be remedied with the addition of a camera d-ring for the bipod mount. Included case can be mounted on a belt or other gear.

[Yes, Built-In] Can get some night vision cheaper, and many A LOT more expensive. This seemed a good middle of the road purchase for me. I have not taken any pics or video so can't comment, but that was never my intent. It shows good detail in structures across a corn field an honest 350 yards away on a pitch black night using the IR illuminator. I think it's perfect for keeping tabs on property in the dark.
