Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the Vello BG-N19-2 grip work with the Nikon EN-EL-18 battery?

A: When used with the optional Nikon BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover ( https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/843387-REG/Nikon_27008_BL_5_Battery_Chamber_Cover.html ), the Vello BG-N19-2 Battery Grip for Nikon D850 is compatible with the Nikon EN-EL18b (Though not the EN-EL18 or EN-EL18a). Hope this helps.

Q: 2. Would this battery pack work with sunwayfoto L-bracket "SUPNLD850G", or similar products from other vendors?

A: Yes, it will work.

Q: 3. So, does the grip have to be removed in order to change the battery that is in the camera?

A: Yes the grip does need to be removed to take the battery out of the camera.

Q: 4. Has anyone checked the frame rate when using 8 AA Alkaline (1.5 volt) vs 8 AA NiMH (1.25 volt rechargeable) batteries?

A: With fresh and or fully charged batteries, the frame should be the same, no difference.

Q: 5. Would you attach a Black Rapid strap to this grip and walk around without concern? The real Nikon grip would give me that confidence. Will the Vello?

A: I recently purchased the Bg-N17 for the D500 and have now tested it for over a week. I am not entirely sure as to the structural integrity of the grip when it comes to Black Rapid straps, however I can say that the grip attachment to the camera itself is rock solid. I may recommend testing the strap of choice and the camera-grip combo, but I think it should work fine.

Q: 6. What Arca-Swiss compatible plate works with the Vello grip? I would guess that the bottom geometry on the Vello grip is sufficiently different from the Nikon grip so that plates for the MB-D18 don't work on the Vello grip.

A: My Arca Swiss type mounts work just fine on the BG N19-2

Q: 7. I've read that the D500 is very particular about the battery brand, third party brands not working in the D500, will a third party brand work in the Vello grip on a D500 - anyone try this?

A: I am sorting through an issue with my D500, Velo grip and Nikon / non-Nikon batteries. My D500 had the same issue that many have reported where it would not turn off with the only solution being to remove the grip and internal battery to reset the D500. I have done the following to-date to isolate the problem: 1 - Updated D500 firmware and shot with a Nikon battery in the D500 (no issues); Added the Velo grip with Nikon battery (no issues); I will be swapping the Nikon battery in the grip for a non-Nikon and will add my findings once I have some shots taken.

Q: 8. Anyone know if there is a long lens case that would hold a D500 with Grip attached to a long lens like the 200-500? ? ? My Ape Case holds camera and lens fine, but not with a grip.

A: The Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 50 V2.0. BH#: THDH50

Q: 9. Work with Nikon z5?

A: The Vello BG-N10 Battery Grip for Nikon D600 & D610 is incompatible with the Nikon Z5 Mirrorless Camera. Instead, get the Vello BG-N21 Battery Grip for Nikon Z 5, Z 6, Z 6 II, Z 7, and Z 7 II Mirrorless Camera, BH #VEBGN21.

Q: 10. Does the Kirk PZ-151 plate fit on this grip? This is not the L model, but designed for the D600/D610.

A: I think you should order thr Kirk PZ-152 which should fit with Battery Grip.

[1/4"-20 Female] My wife and I purchased a D600 about 5 months ago and I was adamant about getting the MB-D14 Nikon grip for it which we did. Since then, we purchased another D600 and another lense so we wanted to save some cash if possible, so we decided to give the Vello BG-N10 a try. It compares very well to the Nikon version. It fits very snug, but has a little more flex than the Nikon version, however, I stress LITTLE. There is no spacing between the body and the grip as others have indicated, and all the buttons function as needed. The front command dial is a bit touchy however, and if I turn it too fast, it may skip around aperature settings a bit, however, I noticed that if I just turn it at a slower pace, there are no problems. The battery fits nice and snug in the compartment and the camera body recongnized the battery presence right away. The feel is of course, not quite as robust as the Nikon version, but please keep in mind, the Nikon version is $200 plus more, so that is a small price to pay. So if your on the fence and are hessitant with going with a third party product, I'd definately give it a shot, I don't think you'll be disappointed. As for the rating, in terms of quality, I would give it 4 1/2 stars, however, as stated previously, because it is significantly less in price than the Nikon version, I gave it 5.

[1/4"-20 Female] I have the Nikon Battery Grip for My D7000 and when I bought my D600 I wanted the Nikon Grip for that as well. The $ plus price tag was a little higher than what I wanted to pay after the camera purchase so I began investigating the aftermarket versions of the D600 battery grips. The Vello consistantly came up as being the most highly rated of the group. The D7000 grip (Nikon) always had a bit of play when attached however nothing like that was experienced in attaching the Vello to the D600. The D600 recognized the additional battery right away. The fit and finish of the grip are very close to the Nikon version. I am very pleased with the grip and now I have additional dollars to invest in that 28-300 lens that I wanted!

[0.88 lb] That's right. It's like finding an extra $200 in your pocket since this Battery Grip costs about that much less than the Nikon oem. I'm really happy with the build quality and the way it fits. I don't feel anything loose at all. I love how it feels in my hands, it doesn't feel cheap. I've had it for a few weeks now and I've been using it daily with no issues encountered. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

[1/4"-20 Female] I have other Vello products and have been impressed by the quality of them. The battery grip (BG-N10) for the D600 is no exception! You just can't go wrong with it especially at its price. The fit is just right. It doesn't wiggle. Now, I'll be honest and say I mainly bought the grip so the D600 would feel a lot more comfortable holding (and it is!) since I have somewhat large hands. It's the same reason I got a grip for the D7000, but with a genuine Nikon grip. My only gripe (minor to me) is with the space on the grip that holds the rubber contact cover of the D600. You have to force the cover down and even then, it doesn't sit right. It doesn't lay flat like how it does with the Nikon grip for my D7000.

[1/4"-20 Female] Excellent value as compared to the Nikon version at a fraction of the cost. My main points of concern were construction and button response and I am quite pleased. The focal point control pad in portrait mode can be a bit sensitive though.
