The AMT Z1Li Custom Microphone comes complete with the Inline preamp, a carry pouch, and AMT disconnecting cable technology to allow the microphone to be used wireless with the Wi5IIC, Sabine, Shure, or Line 6 wireless systems (sold separately). The Sennheiser cable is also sold separately.

Designed and manufactured by hand, this microphone is intended to reproduce the rich deep sonic tones of an alto and bass flute while clamping to the instrument (clamp sold separately). It uses D.C.T. (Disconnect Cable Technology) and is suitable for professionals looking for a natural sound reproduction from a clip-on microphone.

The system allows the player to easily change to and from AMT's different preamps (sold separately) while also allowing for direct connections to the Wi5IIC, Sabine, Shure, or Sennheiser wireless systems (sold separately), creating a belt pack free operation. With a change of cable (sold separately), you can convert your Z1Li from a wired Inline style preamp over to a wireless setup quickly and easily.

The microphone is suspended in a 4-point isolation ring reducing key and handling noise. Phantom power is required for use with the Z1i (Inline preamp). It can be used for soft to loud music for a principal artist, ensemble setting, or for a soloist.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is it includes these microphone wind shild

A: It actually comes with the foam windshield. It will the do the job inside, but it's not very effective outside. I recommend buying a separate windshield.

Q: 2. 1) Can i connect NTG4+ to my rodelink filmmaker wireless transmitter?2) When connected directly to a sony a7r3 camera, will it sound good? or Preamp/external recorder is a must?

A: The 4+ supplies its own power, so if the rodelink receiver is plugged into the camera, plugging the mic directly into the camera will make absolutely no difference. The only benefit of using the transmitter would be to get the mic closer to the audio source. But that doesn't seem to apply here.

Q: 3. Would this mic work with my Sony adapter for my A7s? It has an xlr in??

A: The NTG4+ will work with an XLR adapter that is able to provide 48 volts phantom power to the mic.

Q: 4. When do you expect to ship these?

A: The Rode NTG4+ is currently available and shipping.

Q: 5. I have a Rode Videopro shotgun mic. Besides the XLR inputs, How does this compare to that microphone?

A: The reach and rejection of the NTG 4+, along with a richer, fuller audio reproduction are just a few advantages. The NTG4+is also mor robustly built and includes an Internal Rechargeable Lithium Battery.

Q: 6. I know that technically shotgun mics are meant for outdoor use, but does anyone have any experience with how well or poorly the rode ntg4 does inside, as in have you used it on your production indoor with satisfying enough results?

A: We bought ours primarily for indoor use and have been very satisfied with the results. We have a loud HVAC unit and the built in filter on the mic took away that sound and kept great clarity.

Q: 7. What is the difference between NTG 1 and NTG 2

A: I have both. The NTG2 uses a AA battery. Ive seen specs that claim there is a tiny bit of difference in performance but it depends on your size restrictions and phantom power requirements. The NTG1 is great on most of my cams and in podcasts where the space might be an issue and upplying power to it isnt a problem. Recently I started.using a Tascam 70D the power drain is so bad on it I will often switch to the NTG2 to save battery on the mixer/recorder.

Q: 8. Is this mic compatible with DSLR cameras? I have a Canon 5D mark III and am looking for on on-camera shotgun mic.

A: The NTG1 requires power in order to operate that is supplied by the device the mic is connected to. unfortunately this is not able to be supplied by the cameras mini jack output. For the 5D mkIII and similar cameras you will need an additional adapter that is able to provide the power to the mic such as a Beachtek DXA-SLR ULTRA, which will allow the connection of 2 mics, level control, metering and limiters to protect from overload. Alternatively a battery powered mic will also work directly connected. The NTG-2 would be an example.

Q: 9. Can a AA battery be put inside the Rode NTG4?

A: The NTG4 (no +) is only phantom powered. In theory the mic could be powered via a AA battery operated source like a Tascam or Zoom recorder for instance but the mic does NOT take batteries whatsoever. I own an NTG4+ and it is my favorite mic. It is super versatile and the rechargeable battery inside lasts forever.

Q: 10. I'm new to shotgun microphones and need some info. What are the scenarios(preferably with examples) where I'd need to absolutely use the battery power of NTG4+? My camera is Sony a7II and recorder would be Zoom H5. The shotgun will mostly be used in a boom setup but it'd be nice to use it on-camera sometimes. I understand that NTG4+ has both Phantom and battery power. Is there are reason to pick the NTG4+ over the NTG4, in my scenario? Is there any advantages/disadvantages of using battery power over phantom power or vice versa?

A: The only time you would require the battery power of the NTG4+ is if you did not have access to phantom power. Powering via phantom power is usually preferred by most as it is one less battery to worry about. Also, there may be some coloration to the tonal characteristics of the NTG4+ microphone as the battery depletes, where as the NTG4 is receiving constant power thru another source; in your case the Zoom H5. Keep in mind if you are powering the microphone with phantom power by way of the Zoom H5, the battery time usage on the recorder will be affected.

[Mono] We use this mic inside our grand piano with the cover closed. Set up is so easy - we can leave it inside and just attach the XLR cable to the external box, mounted on the dolly. And the sound is excellent - much better than the mic on a boom with the cover partly open. Because the lid is closed, there is much less unwanted sound from the rest of the band. Overall, an excellent product.

[Solid-State] I've been hunting a relatively inexpensive solution for our on-stage piano and this microphone has worked wonderfully!

[Solid-State] This is an outstanding microphone for micing a closed lid on a grand piano. While we don't need a microphone to enhance the sound in the church sanctuary it is needed to supply sound to monitors and the streaming signal. We have been using the M40 for several years and when the old one failed we immediately purchase a new one.

[Solid-State] I have used this microphone as my go to piano mic for years. I bought this one as a spare. Less expensive than most of the competition and sounds just as good or better.

[Phantom Power] I use this microphone for live performance of clarinet + live electronics. Finally I am able to be mobile and compact on the stage, not using two separate microphones (with so many holes sound source is practically everywhere in this kind of instrument). I hope this solution will also help to avoid feedback problems. Sound quality is great, but I am not expecting it to be 100% natural, since the lower microphone is pointing almost directly to the bell, getting very rich of low freqs sound. I think it will be best to combine it with wireless solution.

[Solid-State] Great quality sound, easy setup and use. Doesn't get in the way. Easy to move between my tenor and alto without any wires hanging anywhere. Compared the sound to DPA 4099, which I thought lacked a little bit of the body of the tenor sax sound. Returned that and kept the AMT. seems like this is the best. Full wireless and no body pack is great, but you do have the transmitter on your bell which some may not like the look of. It's light though, so you don't fee it or notice.
