Amt Z1l Microphone For Alto Bass Flutes

Amt Z1l Microphone For Alto Bass Flutes
  • Product Code: eq173320
  • Availability: In Stock

$1,677.00 $2,045.94

The AMT Z1L Custom Microphone comes complete with the BP45 belt pack style preamp, a hard shell case, and AMT's disconnecting cable technology to allow the microphone to be used wireless with the Wi5IIC, Shure, or Sabine wireless systems (sold separately). The Sennheiser cable is also sold separately.

Designed and manufactured by hand, this microphone is intended to reproduce the rich deep sonic tones of an alto and bass flute while clamping to the instrument (clamp sold separately). It uses D.C.T. (Disconnect Cable Technology) and is suitable for professionals looking for a natural sound reproduction from a clip-on microphone.

The Z1L in its stock configuration is a good choice for the player that needs a hard wired (non wireless) belt pack style setup. It can also be used wirelessly. The system allows the player to easily change to and from AMT's different preamps (sold separately) while also allowing for direct connections to the Wi5IIC, Sabine, Shure, or Sennheiser wireless systems (sold separately), creating a belt pack free operation. With a change of cable (sold separately), you can convert your Z1L from a wired belt-pack style preamp over to a wireless setup quickly and easily.

The microphone is suspended in a 4-point isolation ring reducing key and handling noise. Phantom power or 1 AA battery is required for hardwired / belt-pack use. It can be used for soft to loud music for a principal artist, ensemble setting, or for a soloist.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. When do you expect to ship these?

A: The Rode NTG4+ is currently available and shipping.

Q: 2. Is this pole aluminum or carbon fiber?

A: K-Tek - KE-89CC Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole with Internal XLR Cable

Q: 3. I am looking to use this with a Saramonic SmartRig with a TRRS to TRS adapter to avoid buying the Sony XLR-K2M. Will it work?

A: The RODE NTG4+ Shotgun Microphone is compatible for use with the Saramonic SmartRig+ 2-Channel XLR Microphone Audio Mixer with the 3.5mm TRRS connector. It may also be compatible for connection to the 3.5mm TRS mic input on your DSLR or mirrorless camera. If you are only going to use the NTG4+ mic with your camera, you can connect the mic directly to the camera's 3.5mm mic input. Power the mic with its internal battery and use a cable with XLR female and 3.5mm TRS male connectors like the Kopul XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug Cable - 1.5' (B&H # KOXRSM015B), which is a good length for mounting on the camera, or use a longer length if you want to use the mic off-camera, on a boompole or stand.

Q: 4. Are there any audio quality differences between the NTG4+ and NTG?

A: Both are excellent

Q: 5. Does this microphone have to be mounted on a camera? We are using a teleprompter so we need a mic that can stand alone and not have to be mounted to our camera.

A: We use this as a boom mic which is on a boompole (fish pole) connected to a C-stand that hangs over the talent (speaker). The C stand is weighed down by two 30LB sand bags. You will also need a Matthelini clamp to attach the boom to the C-stand.

Q: 6. What is the difference between NTG 1 and NTG 2

A: I have both. The NTG2 uses a AA battery. Ive seen specs that claim there is a tiny bit of difference in performance but it depends on your size restrictions and phantom power requirements. The NTG1 is great on most of my cams and in podcasts where the space might be an issue and upplying power to it isnt a problem. Recently I started.using a Tascam 70D the power drain is so bad on it I will often switch to the NTG2 to save battery on the mixer/recorder.

Q: 7. I have a Rode Videopro shotgun mic. Besides the XLR inputs, How does this compare to that microphone?

A: The reach and rejection of the NTG 4+, along with a richer, fuller audio reproduction are just a few advantages. The NTG4+is also mor robustly built and includes an Internal Rechargeable Lithium Battery.

Q: 8. How far from the subject this mic can record with quality? Is it good for advertising production?

A: Lots of variables here, but generally you should be within a couple of feet of the sound source - less if it is a noisy environment. This is more an aspect of proper location sound technique in general, rather than the quality of this particular mic. This mic is capable of very good quality sound, but even the most expensive mic will sound terrible if it is 10 ft from the subject.

Q: 9. 1) Can i connect NTG4+ to my rodelink filmmaker wireless transmitter?2) When connected directly to a sony a7r3 camera, will it sound good? or Preamp/external recorder is a must?

A: The 4+ supplies its own power, so if the rodelink receiver is plugged into the camera, plugging the mic directly into the camera will make absolutely no difference. The only benefit of using the transmitter would be to get the mic closer to the audio source. But that doesn't seem to apply here.

Q: 10. What is the Signal to Noise Ratio?

A: The S/N ratio for the Zhiyun TransMount Shotgun Microphone (B&H # ZHTMSGM) has not been published, nor is it available through any documentation.

[Black] Great quality sound, easy setup and use. Doesn't get in the way. Easy to move between my tenor and alto without any wires hanging anywhere. Compared the sound to DPA 4099, which I thought lacked a little bit of the body of the tenor sax sound. Returned that and kept the AMT. seems like this is the best. Full wireless and no body pack is great, but you do have the transmitter on your bell which some may not like the look of. It's light though, so you don't fee it or notice.

[Black] I use this microphone for live performance of clarinet + live electronics. Finally I am able to be mobile and compact on the stage, not using two separate microphones (with so many holes sound source is practically everywhere in this kind of instrument). I hope this solution will also help to avoid feedback problems. Sound quality is great, but I am not expecting it to be 100% natural, since the lower microphone is pointing almost directly to the bell, getting very rich of low freqs sound. I think it will be best to combine it with wireless solution.

[End Address] I've been hunting a relatively inexpensive solution for our on-stage piano and this microphone has worked wonderfully!

[Black] This is an outstanding microphone for micing a closed lid on a grand piano. While we don't need a microphone to enhance the sound in the church sanctuary it is needed to supply sound to monitors and the streaming signal. We have been using the M40 for several years and when the old one failed we immediately purchase a new one.

[Mono] We use this mic inside our grand piano with the cover closed. Set up is so easy - we can leave it inside and just attach the XLR cable to the external box, mounted on the dolly. And the sound is excellent - much better than the mic on a boom with the cover partly open. Because the lid is closed, there is much less unwanted sound from the rest of the band. Overall, an excellent product.

[Black] I have used this microphone as my go to piano mic for years. I bought this one as a spare. Less expensive than most of the competition and sounds just as good or better.

[Solid-State] For under ... I think this is the money worth spending.Easy to install and small enough to hide.
