The 120 VAC CITC Quiet Cube Snow Machine is designed to provide quiet snow production. With DMX on board and a variable speed remote control included, the Quiet Cube is suitable for venues needing a remote-controlled quiet snow machine. The Quiet Cube has a throw distance of 15 to 20'. Use "Super Extra Dry" fluid for quickly evaporating snow and "Extra Dry" fluid when flying over 45'. A hanging bracket with hardware, a power cord, and an extra fuse are all included.

Q: 1. Does this come with a speed ring for the Chimera?

A: The speed ring is mounted on the 750 fixture. The chimera only works with the 750 in this kit.

Q: 2. Is there a burn-in time for this? It smells horrible. Also, when I open it up to full flood, the light shuts off. Is it shorting?

A: this unit like most with a quartz lamp produces a great deal of heat. i would expect some burn-in time. this is a problem made worse in dirty or dusty environments. the fact that you are losing output at full flood raises other questions. i don't think you have a shorting problem (that would overload the circuit feeding the instrument and cause the protective breaker to trip. then there would be no power to illuminate the lamp when you returned to spot or mid-focus positions. it is likely that there is a loose connection in the feed wires which is stretched to the point where contact is broken and is regained when the position of the lamp carriage is moved again. if this is the case there may be a problem with insulation or some other material in the lamphouse touching or getting too near to the lamp (bulb) causing the burning smell.. pop the lamphouse and do some careful inspection of the socket, feed wires and focusing mechanism. be sure unit is unplugged when you do this. i don't want to responsible for your getting a shock if there is an electrical issue.this is not a normal situation and if you can't find a simple explanation quickly it is time to box the unit up and return it for a functional one. in my experience arriflex and b&h are both exceptional service providers and genuinely concerned about quality and customer satisfaction.

Q: 3. ARRI's website says that for each individual light, the power cable connector is either bare end or Schuko plug. Since this is being sold as a kit and designated as 120V, can I assume this is the US version and therefore has a standard US Edison 3-prong grounded plug already attached to the end of the cable on each of the light fixtures?

A: The lampheads in this kit all include a 3 prong Edison type cable for use in 120V environments.

Q: 4. Does this kit come with a speed ring for the Chimera soft box?

A: Yes, the speed ring also holds the barn doors. Important to note that the speed ring is for the 750watt fixture only.

Q: 5. Can I use these in Europe?

A: No, these lights are not dual voltage, 120v. only.

Q: 6. Will the 12 reflector take a Westcott 50w CFL bulb? I know these bulbs are big, with a wide base.Thanks.

A: No, they won't fit. That lamp base is too broad and the reflector narrows to merge with the bulb holder.

Q: 7. Can this be used with CFL bulbs, and if so, what's the max CFL wattage it would accept?

A: I think this will work with any bulb with an Edison base. While I have not used it with CFL's, I have used it with a dimmable 90-watt equivalent LED bulb with no problems, and also attached to an LED dimmer.

Q: 8. Does the light come with a bulb or do I have to buy that separately?

A: Lamps are not included.

Q: 9. Can i use this with a softbox?

A: Yes.

Q: 10. two questions really1. Is there an accessory i can pick up that will allow me to use a westcott parabolic umbrella easily with this (pointing the 750 into the umbrella or shooting through it)? My lightstand will be an impact branded chrome c-stand.2. im going to be shooting primarily outside and would like to daylight balance the light. I know this can be done with gels. The question i have is where and how to mount the gels w/o melting them.Thanks!

A: 1. This is a hanging fixture. You'd have to find some kind of adapter to change it to a stand mount. A 750W fixture is also possibly a bit too hot for your umbrella. You might consider a diffusion gel instead.2. For the gel, you'd want to use no-drip, fire resistant certified gels (Apollo, Rosco) & a gel frame available many places including B&H I'm sure. Check the diameter of the hole of the frame to be sure it is going to let most of your light thru, but you can use a generic gel frame.

[1x IEC Input] Great addition for a lightweight travel interview lighting kit. I use this primarily as a hair light or to add interest to a background. You can't beat the light quality from a fresnel lens. You always need at LEAST one hard light in your interview kit. 150w isn't that bright but perfect for talking heads interviews. The ability to spot and flood the light as well as shape it with barn-doors is essential to having a hard light. If you can't afford the Dedolight 150 (which is brighter than this light but roughly the same size) this is the light for you. 5

[47.75 lb] This is my first excursion into the world of serious studio lighting. For my simple home studio for selling my glass art on ETSY, this was the perfect investment. The size and weight are suitable to a lightweight stand & arm. The small lens keeps glare to a minimum, working in a confined area. The focusing action by itself makes a noticeable difference - the barn door and snoot are well-made and indispensable for my needs. More power would have been nice, but with my setup, I do not think it would be worth the extra size, weight and heat with the 300 watt model - maybe for larger subjects and/or more general purpose applications, but that's not what I currently do. I am very impressed with the construction, glad I didn't skimp on some flimsy cheaper unit. 5

[1x Snow Machine] Very versatile little light. Heats up but thats generally not a factor. Good for subtle background lighting or highlighting hair. Can use it for product shots too, a little more predictable than flash. Quality item, as always from Arri. No matter how enamored you are of your strobe equipment, you need at least one of these. 5

[1x IEC Input] I use this for key, fill, hairlight, or backlight for DSLR/C100 interviews depending on the amount of light I want to throw and number of lights I'm using. Light enough to easily put on a c-stand arm with a baby pin so you can mount it about anywhere you can think of. Three of these, with some diffusion, scrims or bounce on the fill are perfect for a small interview kit when you can control the lighting and are using DSLR type sensors that don't need much light. If there's a lot of ambient light, you need to step up to the 300 or 650 watt Arris for key, and then probably start using some neutral density filters on the lenses. In that situation the Arri 150 still works great for fill or hair. 5

[1x IEC Input] We bought this light to round out our set up of some soft boxes and higher wattage fresnel's. It worked fantastically and provided a great small source of light for providing additional accents into a scene. 150 watts is perfect for small room lighting and when paired with a silk in front can be a great compact main light. 5

[1x Snow Machine] I am using the Losmandy 120 Volt AC to 15 Volt DC Adapter to power a Gemini 2 System for a Losmandy G-11 equatorial mount. The adapter is effective and works as advertised. I no longer get low voltage warnings, when powering up the Gemini 2 unit, as I did when powering from a 12 Volt DC battery. This Power Adapter is compact, which helps reduce clutter in my small observatory dome. 5
