Affording an especially broad, 18mm equivalent field of view, the FUJIFILM X-mount ZEISS Touit 12mm f/2.8 Lens for FUJIFILM Xfrom ZEISS Touit 12mm f/2.8 Lens for FUJIFILM Xis a prime wide-angle lens well-suited for landscape, architecture, and interior shooting. A sophisticated Distagon optical design includes two aspherical elements and three low dispersion elements, which help to control a variety of aberrations, distortion, and color fringing in order to produce sharp, well-corrected imagery. A floating elements system is used, too, to maintain consistent image quality throughout the focusing range. Individual elements also receive a ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, suiting both photo and video use, this lens incorporates a DC autofocus motor to deliver especially fast, quiet, and precise focusing performance.

Wide-angle prime is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides an 18mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/2.8 maximum aperture suits working in available-light conditions and is also ideal for astrophotography use.

Distagon optical concept affords high sharpness, well-corrected image quality from edge-to-edge, and very low field curvature.

The optical design utilizes three anomalous partial dispersion elements to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased clarity and color fidelity.

Two aspherical elements control distortion and spherical aberrations in order to produce greater sharpness and more accurate rendering.

ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections and provide greater contrast and color fidelity.

Floating elements system helps to maintain consistent image quality throughout the entire focusing range, from 7.1" to infinity.

DC autofocus motor delivers quick and quiet focusing performance to suit both stills and video shooting applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this item come with an international warranty, or for the US only?

A: The lens comes with a 2-year USA limited warranty. If you are outside of the United States, please check with the manufacturer locally, to see if they will honor the USA warranty. This is entirely up to the discretion of the manufacture in question and out of the control of B&H.

Q: 2. I am looking for a case for this lens. The Pearstone 20 is ok for just the lens, but not with the lens hood on mounted backwards. Any suggestions for a similar case?

A: The lens as you know has a very wide diameter. I have a multi compartment case where the camera hands in the middle and a pouch on either side for extra lenses. It does fit in there, rather snug but I think it's OK

Q: 3. If I use this on my Sony Fs700 will it be cropped since the Fs700 is a super 35? I'm debating on buying it but not sure about its ability to perform in terms of video.

A: There shouldnt be vignetting, no. Super 35 is roughly the same size as APS-C.

Q: 4. how does it compare to Fuji 50mm f2 in portraits?

A: The Zeiss Has more elements. It also is a macro lens so you can move in closer if you want to to make a tight portrait.

Q: 5. How well would this lens be expected to perform for shooting the milky way? I am currently shooting with the kit 18-35mm lens and am looking to take get better image quality when shooting at night than i can achieve with the kit lense. Is there a compatible Nex7 lens that would be recommended before this one? I don't mind if it would require an adapter, just looking for a good night photography lens with a reasonable price.

A: In this focal range and price range I would say this is the best you could opt for to give you improved image quality over your 18-35mm kit lens. Sony offers a 16mm f2.8 lens but it would not give you the same field of view as this lens would, and the optical quality of this Zeiss lens is much greater than the Sony 16mm option.

Q: 6. I'm looking for a macro lens for my Nex-6.Is there a difference between a true Macro lens, and this lens, which offers 1:1 Macro capability? Is there anything that the Sony 30mm f/3.5 Macro lens will do that this lens will not?(For example, I read somewhere that a true macro will have a flat focus plane, rather than a curved focus plane. Is the focus plane of this lens flat or curved?)

A: I own both the Sony 30 and the Zeiss 50. The image quality of the 50 is astounding. It is insanely sharp. The 30 is pretty good, but not nearly as sharp. The 50's 2.8 means a faster shutter and less motion blur as neither are stabilized. Also, to get 1:1 with the 30, you have to be an inch (25mm) from the subject. The 50 let's you be about 6 inches away - this makes shooting much easier to frame. The 50 is my best lens - worth the higher cost. By the way, I think both are flat - looks that way in my photos.

Q: 7. Work with Fujifilm X-E1 fully?

A: Yes, the ZEISS Touit 50mm f/2.8M Macro Lens for FUJIFILM X is fully compatible with the Fujifilm X-E1.

Q: 8. Is this lens manual focus by wire lens, like fujifilm lenses, or is it a true manual focus, like zeiss lenses on canon body ? Thank you. Andrei

A: Focus by wire. I also own Zeiss manual focus lenses for canon and this is not at all similar in feel or function.

Q: 9. When I mount this on my A6300 the image stabilization is not available. Is this by design? How do I get the in camera body stabilization to work with this lens?

A: Hello man! This camera and this lens is not estabilized .. but the range of lens is12mm and then is very open. For this is possible use in the hand without the image estabilized

Q: 10. Is this Lens compatible Sony F Nex 100, which is not a DSLR?

A: It is, it's an e mount

[APS-C] I've owned numerous Zeiss lenses over the years and they have always been stellar. I might have given this 4.5 because the aperture ring isn't stiff enough and will sometimes move but it's optically fabulous. At normal working distances it's very good/excellent right to the corners from f4.0-11.0. Center is razor sharp throughout. Unless you're doing big enlargements (which I do) it's good wide open too. I shoot full time for my living so my gear is important. Not sure how it would be wide open in the corners for something like astrophotography. I don't use it for that.
It's beautiful aesthetically, especially with the matched hood. Additionally I had to give it back a half star for it's performance shooting infrared. That's a niche thing but I shoot a lot of infrared. I use it on Fuji bodies (X-T5) and Fuji doesn't have much in ultra wide that is both good with standard photography AND infrared.

[FUJIFILM X] Restaurant photography comprises a good portion of my work and this lens has proved invaluable capturing interior/exterior architectural shots. It makes rooms look huge and puts a lot of space into any shot. The build quality is wonderful, images are extremely sharp and the colors pop big time. My only reservation with this lens would be that I really only use it for the above purpose. I'm mainly a portrait photographer so for the price, I question whether I shouldn't have gone with a cheaper lens for the amount of time I use it. Having said that, I've done one landscape shoot with it and it was amazing so I will keep it in my collection for now - until I upgrade to a full frame camera (currently shooting on an a6000). At that point, I might go for the 25mm Batis or 24mm Zeiss. However, first I'll get the 35mm 1.4 Distagon as that may actually prove wide enough as it won't be affected by the crop factor of the a6000's aps-c sensor and is obviously a much more versatile lens.

[f/22] I shoot regularly for a few restaurants and this lens is perfect for interior/exteriors. Extremely sharp and lens correction is just a click away in Lightroom. Great build quality, too. Feels substantial and solid.

[99°] I really like the lens. Good resolution, good color reproduction. A small flaw is very easy to move the diaphragm ring, be careful not to accidentally change the diaphragm.
