Q: 1. Does this have a built-in per-line limiter or compressor?

A: That is a mistake on Zoom's part. 4 Mic Inputs, each with dedicated compression, would have been preferable the 6 without, at this price point. Any time a human voice (speaking or singing) gets in front of a microphone, it's a good idea to have a dynamics "babysitter" in the signal path.

A: No it doesnt.

A: Phantom power is either, all on or all off, to all channels.

Q: 5. I have a roku, fire box, and a cable box rca audio to a reciever. I have what I think is the same. I have to get up and manually change sources. Will this do what I want automatically. Also there is sound comming out of these things most of the time, is that a problem?

A: Yes, it will combine all four sources into one output. I use it to combine multiple karaoke units and wireless microphones so it would be one source on receiver. It isn't powered so doesn't matter if it has audio sending to it all the time. If you have two sources going at the same time though, you will hear both. It does not automatically switch, it just combines. So this probably won't be what you want. You will have to change sources anyway to switch the video input between devices. I would get a new receiver that has an app for remote control.

A: When set to Audio Interface Mode, the L12 will send multitrack audio to a computer while recording to an SD card.

A: I am not aware of an option to provide this with USB power. This comes with a power supply for use with wall plugin power only.

Q: 8. If I input a 3.5mm mic will that get phantom power, and if so, how much, or is it just through the XLR connections?

A: Phantom power is provided through an XLR connection only. Mics that require power with a 3.5mm jack usually require plug in power which is approximately 2 - 5 volts. The MX310 is not able to provide this power.

Q: 9. Purchased this mixer & so far so good. I primarily use it for video depositions, with 5 mic inputs. Does anyone know if it's possible to monitor the audio channel by channel?

A: There are no solo buttons on the Zoom LiveTrak L-8. But you could mute the other channels and just listen to the one you want.
