Telephoto zoom is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and offers an 84-305mm equivalent focal length range.

Two extra-low dispersion elements, including one Super ED element, are used to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and color fidelity throughout the zoom range.

One aspherical element limits distortion and spherical aberration in order to realize greater sharpness and accurate rendering.

Super EBC coating has been applied to individual elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.

A 4.5 stop-effective optical image stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.

Linear motor delivers quick, quiet, and smooth autofocus performance that is especially beneficial when working with fast-moving subjects.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contribute to a pleasing out-of-focus quality to benefit the use of selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi. Can someone tell me the maximum aperture at the halfway point (about 127mm I think)? Thanks.

A: Max aperture at 127mm is f/4.

Q: 2. Has anyone used this lens with the LEE Filter System? Any vignetting or reflection issues?

A: I have not used this lens with the LEE filter system, but have used it with the Cokin P filter holder with Singh Ray filters without any problem.

Q: 3. How can I prevent lens creep? When the lens is mounted on my x-t1 which is held to my pack with a peak design clip gravity causes the lens to slowly extend.

A: The LENSband Lens Band (Black), B&H # LELBB, may assist you with your lens creep issue for use on the FUJIFILM XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Lens.

Q: 4. what is the best filter for protection of the 55-200 lens?

A: I use a UV filter on all my lenses, mainly for protection.

Q: 5. Does click stop aperture ring mean that the aperture is controlled on the lens itself?

A: Yes. Aperture can be controlled from the lens or by the camera. There is a switch on the lens for the setting. One thing to keep in mind is that there is no aperture demarcation on the lens itself. Those occur on screen or viewfinder.

Q: 6. Does this lens have the ability to be manually focused?

A: Yes. It can be manually focused.

Q: 7. Is this lens parfocal?

A: I do not believe the lens has been designed as parfocal. The previous answer says sometimes and makes no mention of other parts of the zoom range. I wouldn't take that to mean it is parfocal, nor do I expect to be when I purchased it. that doesnt take away from the fact that it is a great lens!

Q: 8. Is it possible to get a lens hood for this lens if you lose the original? I don't see one offered.

A: I don't have direct experience but agree with one below re call Fuji USA directly. rs

Q: 9. Does this work Blackmagic zoom and focus demand?

A: No, the FUJIFILM XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Lens is incompatible with the Blackmagic Design Focus Demand and the Blackmagic Design Zoom Demand because the Fuji X-Mount cannot be adapted for use with the Blackmagic Design Studio Cameras and the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini cameras. Plus, the lens does not offer a motor in the focus barrel for use with the Blackmagic Design Zoom Demand.

Q: 10. Is the electronic noise common on this lens when focusing?

A: I use this lens on a X-E2; I'm not aware of any electronic noise when focusing

[Autofocus] I use this lens with the Fuji X-T1 and the X-Pro 2. It is easier, crisper and faster than any other comparable zooms I have used. Amazing image quality, well built and a great buy.

[APS-C] Before making this purchase, I was considering the more expensive Fujifilm's XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Lens. I read all of the reviews and decided that due to the weight of the lens, a better choice for me would be the far less expensive XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS. The lens is fantastic, images are tack sharp and the weight of the lens and camera is perfect. Very quickly, this versatile lens has become my lens of choice.

[Yes] I like how sharp this zoom is...I was able to see details on the moon I've never seen on one of my photos before (once I cropped my image to actual size). It's actually not that heavy and I got compliments on how little chromatic aberration there was in the final SOOC. Personally I prefer not to change lenses outdoors, so I went for the convince of the XF18-135 lens insteadbut if you have the XF18-55mm lens this is a nice way to give you a full range from wide angle to telephoto with great results.

[Yes] I see little with this lens that could be considered a compromise. Focusses fast and very sharp, even fully extended at 200 mm. Firm zoom ring, it will not shift once set. Construction is outstanding. To my surprise, its weight and length do not overwhelm my Fuji XE2.

[Autofocus] I will use the lens on my camera as I continue to develop in my photography.

[29° to 8.1°] Short and simple.... I am very pleased with the sharpness of this lens. Nice rubber focusing grip so feels stable in my hands.Wish it had the rotatable tripod ring but that would add weight that some people wouldn't like I suppose. Still, for the price I am VERY PLEASED. This lens is for my newly purchased Fujifilm X-T1 which I am also very happy I purchased. So much less visual noise than with my Olympus E-M1. I am changing my camera allegiance to Fujifilm.

[FUJIFILM X] This is a very reasonable lens to get to pair with the XF18-55mm kit. Add an ultra wide prime or zoom, and you can have all situations covered. It may not have the widest aperture, but OIS is handy for non-moving subjects. Very respectable sharpness, and quality build. For the price, practically unbeatable.

[f/22] Very nice lens. IQ is really impressive favoring the short end. Not on par with the 50-140mm f2.8 but then again it should not be. The weight is reasonable (way lighter than the 2.8) and balances well enough with my XT-1. The sticky zoom noted by some posters is not a problem from my perspective. There tends to be a bit of start up inertia, but then the zoom feels solid and lens creep not an issue. Auto-focus is quick and accurate. Still trying to dial in my technique for moving subjects with the Fuji system. Canon has it beat here by a mile. I carry my kit in a backpack on hikes, camping, boating and tend to do a lot of walking on trips. The weight and space savings compared to my Canon and lenses is immense. Overall very happy and look forward to using it more.
