The Bower 24mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Olympus 4/3 Mount Camerasis a wide angle prime lens that covers full frame DSLR Sensors. The lens is a wide angle lens for shooting with full frame sensor cameras, and can be used on APS-C and 4/3 sized cameras. The lens features a maximum aperture of T1.5, which makes it a very fast lens that delivers a crisp image with low chromatic aberration across the imaging field. This is accomplished by using 13 optical elements in 12 groups with two aspherical elements. The lens also features multi-coated optics for good contrast, flare reduction and optical performance.

The internal focus design that keeps the front of the lens from rotating, which allows it to work with accessories and available lens mounted filters, such as a polarizer, while allowing you to focus as close as 10.2 inches from the image plane. Designed for shooting HD video, the lens features built-in iris and focus gears, allowing you to use available follow focus units and iris motors. A silent iris design allows you to pull aperture smoothly during a shot while shooting video. The tulip-shaped lens shade is removable and you can attach optional filters using the 77mm threaded front mount.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is this compatible with Nikon d3300 camera?

A: The Bower 24mm T1.5 Ultra-Fast Wide-Angle Cine Lens For Nikon F Mount Cameras will fit and work perfectly to a Nikon D3300. It will also work with any other Nikon mount camera even ones that are FX or full frame sensor cameras.

Q: 2. There seems to be a version2 of the same lens out there. What's the difference?

A: The version Samyang 24mm T1.5 VDSLRII Cine Lens for Canon EF Mount B&H # SA24T15C lists improved optics and coatings over the Samyang 24mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF-Mount B&H # SA2415C.

Q: 3. What exactly is the difference between these Cine DS lenses compared to their equivalent non-DS lenses? I get that the DS lenses have some new markings to make it easier to look at focus and adjust exposure. But what is the difference in the DS lens that makes it cost about $200 more? Also, what different markings are there on the lens that make it obvious this is a Cine DS lens compared to the previous models? If you were looking at the two side by side, how could you tell the difference?

A: ) All of the gears are unified among all Rokinon Cine DS lenses. The focus and aperture gears are exactly aligned so that the user does not have to re-adjust his/her follow focus when swapping out lenses. 2) The new Cine DS lenses now feature dual focusing scales, one on each side. 3) All of the Cine DS lenses are tested to be color matched to provide the same color & contrast in video production.

Q: 4. Are the gears on the Samyang the same as the Rokinon Cine DS line? Will I be able to swap without adjusting my follow focus like the Cine DS?

A: The gears on both Samyang and Rokinon Cinema Lenses are the standard 0.8 pitch gears. However the position of those gears on the lenses may change from lens to lens. You may need to adjust your follow focus when switching lenses.

Q: 5. can this be used with 4K?

A: This Bower lens be used on a 4K camera. Being an entry level cine prime, it's performance will be good whereas more expensive pro lenses will be better.

Q: 6. How much does it weigh

A: The shipping weight is 1.75 lb. So say about 1 lb/ 0.45 kg.

Q: 7. Im sorry but one more question. Even in the still version are optically the same?thank you in advance.Oun

A: Please ask questions! That is what we are here for, your questions. The price difference is for the body of the lens which is made to a higher, more precise tolerance, and has gears, horizontal scales and a clickless aperture ring. The image quality on a focused subject will be about the same for both lenses. There may be breathing (image size change) while follow focusing if you use the still lens for video.

Q: 8. If I were to get this for my C100 (super 35mm Sensor), would the lens then translate to 35-40mm?

A: The C100 has a Super35 sensor and the Rokinon 24mm will convert to roughly a 36mm.

Q: 9. Does it work on APS-C cameras like the T3i ? Does the T3.5 mean f/3.5 ?Thanks.

A: Yes, this lens will mount on any EF mount Canon camera and will provide great looking images. However, this lens is designed for cinematic use and both focus and aperture are adjusted manually via the rings on the lens. There is no communication between the lens and the camera, so auto-focusing and aperture adjustment from camera are not available. Here is a link to a recording I made with this lens: http://youtu.be/jwSYJAj7w_4

Q: 10. What size filter does it use?

A: 77mm

[77 mm] This is my favorite lens I have purchased thus far. It looks absolutely fantastic and performs amazingly well for the price. Doesn't at all feel cheap.

[Four Thirds] I am a college student with a very limited budget. I recommend this to any indy filmmaker/those starting out. This is a great cine lens. Great built, very smooth aperture ring and focus ring! I would not hesitate to buy another cine lens from Rokinon. Best bang for your buck!

[Full Frame] I produce indie film. I purchased this lens as part of the four lens DS bundle. The 50mm is a favorite among Rokinon owners, and I too love it. This 24mm lens is a close second or third as it performs very well for me. I am using these lenses with an adapter on a Sony FS7. As with all the other lenses in this bundle, T1.5 is amazing at this price point. It certainly has more plastic in it than other lenses I own. The powder coating does a good job of not showing fingerprints. Smooth rings. I will say that of all the lenses in the bundle that I got, the lens hood on this one does not snap as tight as the others. Not really a big deal, but I noticed it.

[24mm] Couldn't be happier with this piece of glass. Better than some more expensive pieces. Sharp.

[Four Thirds] First, I mainly use this lens on Sony bodies. I've used it on an a6300, an A7S II, and an FS5 using two FotodioX adapters (one that just passes it through, one with a built-in variable ND filter) and a Metabones Speed Booster. This is actually why I prefer using Canon lenses on a Sony body - it effectively multiplies your capabilities. No matter what I'm doing, I can pull a great image from this lens.

An interesting side note: Rokinon lenses can focus beyond infinity. This is incredibly useful when you're running them through the speedbooster, which moves your focus point out a bit (in my experience). Your new infinity is now where the focus ring physically stops when using the speedbooster, rather than the infinity mark.

As with most of the Cine DS series, it's a bit soft until you hit around T4-5.6 (I've found this one gets tack sharp around T4). I actually like the softer look for video work, as I feel that it looks a bit more classically cinematic than a tack sharp image does.

All in all, it's an utterly beautiful lens. I'm looking forward to using it more in the future! Paired with my Rokinon 50mm lens, I don't really see myself needing anything but the two for most of the work I do.

[77 mm] This is the same lens manufacturer Samyang and Rokinon and costs a little less. It's not the best lens in the world, far from it, but for that price you can do excellent quality short HD.Se used with BMCC in RAW, you can get better, pq gives to cut the edges d image.

[Four Thirds] This is the sixth Rokinon lens I have brought. The 1.5 lens speed is essential for shooting night reinstatement's and considering its cost..you just cant beat it!

[Four Thirds] My primary focus is "Motion Picture", I'm a retired pro still photographer. This lens intrigued me so I ordered one. I chose Nikon mount as the most adaptable, 24mm as a "normal" focal length for Micro Four Thirds and I can always adapt it to Canon if I go back to that brand camera. With initial testing it seems more than adequately sharp without the "clinical" look colors and image tones can get from digital camera processing native M4/3 lenses do with the camera. Manual focus throw is decent and smooth, a follow focus mounted on the right goes towards infinity when turned clockwise and focuses closer when turned back towards camera operator (Panasonic Lumix GH5 camera). Iris has no detents (is clickless) and I like this very much. Both focus and iris rings are geared.

This lens is larger and heavier than most of my native M4/3 glass, which creates a bit of a dilemma for me. What drew me to M4/3 was smaller size and much less weight of bodies and lenses. At 70 going on 80 this lens size and weight are going in the wrong direction but I'll use it and enjoy the features it offers. When it goes in a cage with rails, follow focus, and audio recorder I'll have to use it on a tripod. Hand held I'll have to forget all the "add on stuff" and use it like we used gear 50 years ago.

Other accessories I've already got for it are ND filters and a diffusion filter for a soft look when needed. A .71x focal reducer (I have RJ & Viltrox) gives me 2 lenses in one, a 50mm equvalent mounted on the GH5 with a Nikon to M4/3 adapter and a 34mm equiv with a focal reducer.

I like this lens very much, might even order a Rokinon 50mm when the sobbing credit card recovers from this and a few other purchases

[24mm] I previously purchased Rokinon lenses and I just bought this as an addition to my collection of primes.
