Q: 2. How low will this allow a soft box to go? I need something to hold my soft box down low on the ground for newborn photography.

A: This stand probably will not work for that. The pin is about 34 at it's lowest. Take a look at the sliding arm stand. Manfrotto 231 Column Stand with Sliding Arm I have two of them with an extra arm each to hold two lights and they will allow you to put your soft box right down on the floor or up to 8'

Q: 3. Can the combo head top be removed? Is there just a baby pin underneath?

A: Unfortunately the top combo head on the Matthews Combo Black Aluminum Stand is non-removable, but there is a retractable baby pin on the side.

Q: 4. Can I fit the aputure 300d onto this?

A: Hi Louis, You can mount an Aputure 300 series light fixture to this stand.

A: The center column is NOT removable. The stand can not take A male junior pin on the bottom.,

Q: 7. It says that it's foot print is 26 . I find that hard to believe. Is this true?

A: I dug around the MSE website and found the footprint to be 36 . I feel much better about that! haha

Q: 8. How long is each leg from the base to the wheel?

A: Each leg is about 14.5" inches.

Q: 9. Whats the difference as far as use case between this and a c stand? is it just weight limit/capacity?

A: This has a 72lb load capacity and a junior receiver.

Q: 10. How long is this stand when folded?

[80 Hz to 20 kHz] This stand is the perfect height for tethering, and it's extremely sturdy. It's actually quite heavy. When you lock the wheels it's rock solid, but I find it a little finicky to unlock. I love how it folds up for portability. I have the "SKB iSeries 3I-18135SNSC Waterproof Laptop Case with Sun Screen" and bought the "Manfrotto 1 1/8" (28mm) Male Adapter" to use with it for this stand. I made a couple modifications to the Manfrotto adapter in order to have it work better with this stand/case combo (2 nuts and 1 washer), and it works like a dream. Photos attached. Note: since this stand also has the 5/8" Baby retractable stud, you could also use the "Kupo Baby Ball Head Adapter" to mount the SKB case to the stand. However I have both and I find my Manfrotto adapter method much more sturdy. 5
