HS Series cabinets are designed to eliminate unwanted resonance and increase theaccuracy of sound reproduction to their extreme limit. The enclosures are constructed froma dense MDF with a damped acoustic response. HS Series engineers also employed a traditional three-way mitered-joint technique. Common to architectural design, this construction firmly anchors the corners of the enclosure to improve durability and eliminate unwanted resonance that can influence overall sound

Speaker port design can greatly influence the clarity of overall sound. Often a vortex at the either end of the port can generate air vibrations inside of the port, causing unwanted noise. By adopting a noise reduction technology that incorporates an analysis of

a visual representation of the sound, Yamaha's engineers are able to control and reduce the vortex. Through this analysis Yamaha has arrived at a port design that reduces noise up to 6dB

HS Series full-range models feature two response controls with settings that allow them to adapt to the surface acoustics of rooms of varying shape and size. ROOM CONTROL allows you toattenuate the unnatural, exaggerated low-end that can often occur when speakers are placednext to walls, while HIGH TRIM allows for more flexible control of high frequency response. For inputs, HS full-range speakers can accommodate a range of balanced and unbalanced sources such as mixers, keyboards and audio interfaces with XLR and TRS phone jacks

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this amplifier can be used for bose acoustimass 2speaker system?

A: Yes you can. I just looked at the Bose Manual online and after you follow the directions for connecting the satelite spkrs to the main unit, you just connect the Left and Right of the main unit to the R-S202 L & R spkr outputs!!! Have Fun

Q: 2. Dynamic or Condenser?

A: The Samson HS5 Headset Microphone uses a condenser type element.

Q: 3. Is the 100W RMS or peak?

A: That would be RMS. The Yamaha R-S202 can deliver 100 W per channel continuous power at 8 Ohms.

Q: 4. I am surprised to notice that practically there is no sound until the volume is raised to 40 to 45. Is this a device problem or normal for this product?

A: It may vary somewhat depending on the connected speakers and listening mode. Try headphones also.

Q: 5. hola buenos dias,vivo en cancun,me interesa el amplificador yamaha r-s202,trabja a120 voltios?

A: 120 volt only.

Q: 6. We can possible to connect a 2 PAgoldwood 10 inch speaker 300watts in this amplifier?

A: Most likely yes, i would check the ohm load requirement on the speaker just to safe.

Q: 7. Can I use the Bluetooth feature to play sound from my Smart TV?

A: If your smart tv is bluetooth output compatible then yes.

Q: 8. Can this receiver support an EQ box?

A: Unfortunately newer current receivers like the Yamaha S202 no longer support the use of a Separate Equalizer. The same will apply to the other receiver options we have listed.

Q: 9. Does this receiver have a connection for a ground wire from another component?

A: There is no grounding terminal. try using the screw on the faceplate of your electrical outlet.

Q: 10. Can I hook a pre amp to this?

A: Yes, you can connect the pre-amp to one of its Line-in connections. I am currently using a turntable with a built-in pre-amp to a Line-in connection, works great.

[Vertical] For the price these are the best small near field monitors in terms of easy translation to general hifi systems etc. They don't require much practice to nail the mix and have good bass response that's not too boomy for a ported cabinet. My preferred monitors are the original NS10 and Unity Audio The Rock MkII but both require substantial practice and I still love these just as a general work horse.

[16.2 lb] These are the Goldilocks of home studio speakers, not too big, not too small. Fantastic sound across the dynamic range but with a neutral response that can be tuned to your room. The tonal clarity lets your ears hear nuances that you would otherwise miss in the mud. I will probably add the sub at some point in the future to extend the bottom end range but for now these sound perfect by themselves. Don’t let their small size fool you either, they can still move some air and at higher volumes they still are well within their limits and don’t sound like they’re being forced to work hard. The cabinets are well built, solid and look like they will last forever. I researched a lot of competitors and when these went on sale I didn’t hesitate.

[Black] I bought these to supplement a mixing setup with larger 10 speakers, and they do a great job giving me a new perspective, especially monitoring EQ adjustments in the mid-range and high-end. I also bought a Mackie Big Knob to flip back and forth quickly, and love being able to keep the energy up while I check my mix quickly on the different speakers. Highly recommend to take your studio and mixes to the new level.

[45 W] I had read a lot of reviews about these and the lack of bass response. I really like the tone of these. A flat response with a very pro monitor mid range ie tone. Not sure how to discribe other then the tone is Very clean and crisp. I was thinking I would get the sub woofer as these are not only for mixing audio for my pro video projects but also for my own entertainment system. In my small room the bass is plenty. I may or may not buy the sub. When I crank it up I do notice the high end and high end mid range get a little brash. In my small room there is not a need to really do that. I’m very happy and it truly feels like a pro product, unlike many of the others I checked out in this league.

[45 W] After a miserable encounter with Guitar Center and my money being held hostage for 3 weeks when I had nothing of theirs. Anywho...
B&H was same price. I saved on the taxes by getting a Payboo card. And the gear was shipped very fast. I’m an overly excited with my new layout and the speakers sound great. Great for a small home studio.

[Vertical] For mixing these are hard to beat. Clean. Every vocal. Every nuance. Every instrument. If it's clean on these speakers it will be great on whatever folks are listening on...even the non-discerning. And if you want to rock out with them, you can equalize and turn the volume up. Can't imagine a better set of speakers for a small room mix.
