HS Series cabinets are designed to eliminate unwanted resonance and increase the

accuracy of sound reproduction to their extreme limit. The enclosures are constructed from

a dense MDF with a damped acoustic response. HS Series engineers also employed a traditional three-way mitered-joint technique. Common to architectural design, this construction firmly anchors the corners of the enclosure to improve durability and eliminate unwanted resonance that can influence overall sound

Speaker port design can greatly influence the clarity of overall sound. Often a vortex at the either end of the port can generate air vibrations inside of the port, causing unwanted noise. By adopting a noise reduction technology that incorporates an analysis of

a visual representation of the sound, Yamaha's engineers are able to control and reduce the vortex. Through this analysis Yamaha has arrived at a port design that reduces noise up to 6dB

HS Series full-range models feature two response controls with settings that allow them to adapt to the surface acoustics of rooms of varying shape and size. ROOM CONTROL allows you to

attenuate the unnatural, exaggerated low-end that can often occur when speakers are placed

next to walls, while HIGH TRIM allows for more flexible control of high frequency response.

For inputs, HS full-range speakers can accommodate a range of balanced and unbalanced sources such as mixers, keyboards and audio interfaces with XLR and TRS phone jacks

[43 Hz to 30 kHz] There is a reason you see these in almost any studio you walk into. I've had mine for 13yrs and just ordered this replacement due to someone knocking over my speaker smh.

[55 W] I had been looking at these Yamaha monitors for over a month, and was also trying to decide what to do about a monitor controller. So needless to say I was THRILLED to find this kit! Saved a lot of money, and i could not be happier with the quality of every component! Speakers and sub sound absolutely fantastic, especially for the price. Monitor stationand cables are all top notchas well!!

[55 W] These are the Goldilocks of home studio speakers, not too big, not too small. Fantastic sound across the dynamic range but with a neutral response that can be tuned to your room. The tonal clarity lets your ears hear nuances that you would otherwise miss in the mud. I will probably add the sub at some point in the future to extend the bottom end range but for now these sound perfect by themselves. Don’t let their small size fool you either, they can still move some air and at higher volumes they still are well within their limits and don’t sound like they’re being forced to work hard. The cabinets are well built, solid and look like they will last forever. I researched a lot of competitors and when these went on sale I didn’t hesitate.

[23.2 lb] After a miserable encounter with Guitar Center and my money being held hostage for 3 weeks when I had nothing of theirs. Anywho...
B&H was same price. I saved on the taxes by getting a Payboo card. And the gear was shipped very fast. I’m an overly excited with my new layout and the speakers sound great. Great for a small home studio.

[43 Hz to 30 kHz] These speakers are perfectly balanced. Sweet highs, fat bass and everything wonderful in between. I can't believe how fast they arrived after ordering. Nobody beats B&H!!!

[23.2 lb] For the price these are the best small near field monitors in terms of easy translation to general hifi systems etc. They don't require much practice to nail the mix and have good bass response that's not too boomy for a ported cabinet. My preferred monitors are the original NS10 and Unity Audio The Rock MkII but both require substantial practice and I still love these just as a general work horse.

[43 Hz to 30 kHz] Many big studios used NS10s back in the day - some with a thin piece of tissue over the tweeter - lol. I have worked in a lot of A studios and listened to many high end speakers. They are all a little different. The very most precise sound pretty sterile and cold to me = accurate vs musical. The bottom line is, you have to 'learn' how your speakers sound by taking the same tunes - or your mixes - and playing them over as many systems as you can - to then try to figure out how to go back and re-mix to sound best on all.

After I got the new kit hooked up, I started by playing those same songs I have listened to over countless speakers, headphones and PA systems. WOW! This kit sounds amazingly good right out of the box. I love it's phat quality, and I can really hear the mid and upper frequency detail in the arrangements whilst grooving to both the old and new songs. For the money, or even a lot more money, Yamaha has delivered a really good sounding package (yes, the sub is a _must_) for less than what some others want for just one box. The isolators are nice and hold the speakers where placed on my slippery desktop and under the desk. What is not to love?

[2 kHz] I bought these to supplement a mixing setup with larger 10 speakers, and they do a great job giving me a new perspective, especially monitoring EQ adjustments in the mid-range and high-end. I also bought a Mackie Big Knob to flip back and forth quickly, and love being able to keep the energy up while I check my mix quickly on the different speakers. Highly recommend to take your studio and mixes to the new level.
