HS Series cabinets are designed to eliminate unwanted resonance and increase the

accuracy of sound reproduction to their extreme limit. The enclosures are constructed from

a dense MDF with a damped acoustic response. HS Series engineers also employed a traditional three-way mitered-joint technique. Common to architectural design, this construction firmly anchors the corners of the enclosure to improve durability and eliminate unwanted resonance that can influence overall sound

Speaker port design can greatly influence the clarity of overall sound. Often a vortex at the either end of the port can generate air vibrations inside of the port, causing unwanted noise. By adopting a noise reduction technology that incorporates an analysis of

a visual representation of the sound, Yamaha's engineers are able to control and reduce the vortex. Through this analysis Yamaha has arrived at a port design that reduces noise up to 6dB

The HIGH CUT control sets the cutoff frequency of subwoofer output high-frequency attenuation from 80Hz to 120Hz, while PHASE switch adjusts the phase of the subwoofer output.

The LOW CUT switch and LOW CUT controls enables attenuation of low frequencies for output between 80Hz and 120Hz. The HS8S subwoofer is equipped with XLR and TRS phone jack inputs

and for outputs XLR for L and R and EXT SUB out

[33.9 lb] These speakers are perfectly balanced. Sweet highs, fat bass and everything wonderful in between. I can't believe how fast they arrived after ordering. Nobody beats B&H!!!

[22 to 150 Hz] I have the Yamaha 8S speakers and use them in my video editing room. I have been waiting for this matching subwoofer to arrive---tremendous difference in the low end audio....surprising for an 8 speaker. Also added a sound isolation pad which I recommend.

[33.9 lb] I heard an immediate difference in my mix setup using this sub in addition to my HS8 monitors. If you're thinking about getting one, you should.

[33.9 lb] Set this up with a pair of HS-5's and it really adds the necessary bottom end to make the system sound excellent. I get so many compliments from clients in my office of the sound. You can't go wrong.

[-10 dBu] I ordered a full Yamaha HS8 setup and have been incredibly impressed. I have two of these HS8 monitors and 1 of the HS8S (matching subwoofers).

Together these bring insanely high-quality studio sound to my setup. The speakers fit great on the side of my desk (I have a larger 80x30 desk), and the sound quality is fantastic.

I highly recommend it!

[-10 dBu] Many big studios used NS10s back in the day - some with a thin piece of tissue over the tweeter - lol. I have worked in a lot of A studios and listened to many high end speakers. They are all a little different. The very most precise sound pretty sterile and cold to me = accurate vs musical. The bottom line is, you have to 'learn' how your speakers sound by taking the same tunes - or your mixes - and playing them over as many systems as you can - to then try to figure out how to go back and re-mix to sound best on all.

After I got the new kit hooked up, I started by playing those same songs I have listened to over countless speakers, headphones and PA systems. WOW! This kit sounds amazingly good right out of the box. I love it's phat quality, and I can really hear the mid and upper frequency detail in the arrangements whilst grooving to both the old and new songs. For the money, or even a lot more money, Yamaha has delivered a really good sounding package (yes, the sub is a _must_) for less than what some others want for just one box. The isolators are nice and hold the speakers where placed on my slippery desktop and under the desk. What is not to love?

[33.9 lb] What an exceptional sounding sub. Paired this with two HS5 speakers and it has been a new experience listening to music again. The response is smooth rather than punchy, so you don't get fatigued.

Was upgrading from a Klpisch ProMedia 2.1 system and am super happy with the results. It's fun to turn it up and listen to organ music on it, makes the house rumble.

[150W] I like a lot, if fits very well under my table and it is almost invisible. I had the Yamaha HS8 Powered monitors for about a year, I thought that were big enough as to render a good bass but now that I have this subwoofer the difference is day and night. I thought that the value is good as well. I mostly do voice-overs and radio commercials.
