Distinguished by a uniquely fast and versatile design, the Sigma SA-mount Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens SA Mountis an Art-series zoom, covering wide-angle to normal focal lengths. Separating itself from the pack, this zoom features an exceedingly bright f/1.8 constant maximum aperture, which suits its use in difficult lighting conditions and offers impressive depth of field control throughout the zoom range. The optical design incorporates a series of SLD and aspherical elements, which help to achieve high clarity and sharpness by suppressing various aberrations, color fringing, and distortion. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied, too, which controls lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy. Balancing the optical merits, this 18-35mm also sports an advanced Hyper Sonic Motor, along with an internal focusing design, to promote fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance.

As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications.

Wide-to-normal zoom is designed for APS-C-format Sigma SA-mount cameras and provides a 27-52.5mm equivalent focal length range.

Impressively bright constant f/1.8 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in low-light conditions and also provides greater control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.

Five Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements are featured in the optical design and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

Four aspherical elements are used to help limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.

A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.

Integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), along with an internal focusing system, realizes quick and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations. Additionally, a brass bayonet affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.

This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. this lens work whit sony a7sii?

A: I have no idea, I purchased it for a Canon 80D. You should call B and H. They have always been helpful answering any equipment guestions I had.

Q: 2. If order the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Sony Alpha; will I need to buy an adapter such as MC11 for my sony a6300?

A: The Sony a6300 has a super 35 sensor, like the ones in the canon c300. I have used this lens with the C300 and haven't had any problems. I have only gotten vignetting when using an wide angle adapter in front of the lens. You should be fine with your a6300

Q: 3. Do people with this lens own a wider angle lens or does this suit all your needs for wide angle? Thanks in advance.

A: This lens is also my main lens but it is complemented with wider Sigma 8-16 lens.

Q: 4. REALLY want this lens but - has the early-on auto focus issues been taken care of (possibly w/ a firmware update) for the Canon 80D?

A: not sure, I don't have an issue like that, sorry

Q: 5. Will this lens work with a Canon 5D mark iv?

A: Sort of, but not really, it has a hard vignette around the edge until you zoom into 30mm, at which point you'll have soft edges to 35mm, it's kind a cool effect but I'd purchase Sigma's Full Frame 24-35 F2 before this lens for a 5D.

Q: 6. Which is the best Adapter to attach this on sony a7s II ?

A: this lens is not for full frame.

Q: 7. Will it work on 5D Mark IV for video (with the 4K crop)

A: yes that 5d mark IV has a crop factor which will match perfectly with this lens only shooting in 4k as the 5d in 4k crops

Q: 8. Does it have autofocus?

A: Yes it does! The switch for af and mf are on the side of the lens

Q: 9. Ok, so, I have a GH5s, and a Metabones Speed Booster for Canon EF. Will this lens work?

A: Yes that's the setup I use.

Q: 10. I read how this lens has focusing issues in certain situations, what I wanna know is only on certain camera models ??? I own a Sony 99 the first generation, so would I have focusing issues when using AF ??? I am really interested in this lens but AF issues I have read throw a red flag and worry me

A: There have been focusing issues with the lens but that's only out of the box. The lens comes with a separate calibrator which should fix any focusing issues.

[Sigma SA] Lens is mounted to a Canon R50. AF is snappy, and the lens is made of high quality materials.

[1:4.3] Okay this lens is pretty heavy. But the quality of the photos are amazing. I initially thought that quality wouldn't be as good but my expectations were exceeded. I was using a 50mm Nikon 1.8 before, but I like the 18-35 range a lot more because I can get closer to my subjects. So far so good, few auto focusing issues (misses on occasion) but I use the manual mode on this lens more since it makes it easier for me. The build quality of the lens is also amazing. I've been using it on a Nikon D5500 so this set up will suffice me until I decide to go full frame. I may even get the 50-100mm sigma lens as well.

[72 mm (Front)] This lens is really special. The results are spectacular.
The only drawback is the lack of image stablization.

[Autofocus] I've used this lens numerous times in the past, borrowing from friends or other photographers and have wanted to get one for myself for quite some time. Glad I finally did!
As expected from Sigma, the pictures come out super crisp and sharp. Focus control and zoom are very smooth and easy to use. The only con I've found with this lens so far is that the auto focus motor is a little slow and noise, but not a huge deal if you shoot manual stills. Definitely makes me want to buy more from Sigma.

[2.45 lb] I love this lens for photography. It might be heavy but I can handle it. For video it's great except if you're annoyed by the motor of the auto focus then that might be something to consider

[APS-C] 1.8 zoom - blows away all my 2.8 lenses wide open - best build on the market - under 1k. Don't think and get this lens!

[1:4.3] I always heard great things about this lens and after way too long finally pulled the trigger on one. I was always in love with the colours of the art series lenses especially the reds, and magentas and that's pretty much maintained in this lens. It feels great balance wise so I'm not too fussed about the weight. Handles glare like a champ and I couldn't be more pleased with the contrast.
