Distinguished by a uniquely fast and versatile design, the Nikon F-mount Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens Nikon Fis an Art-series zoom, covering wide-angle to normal focal lengths. Separating itself from the pack, this zoom features an exceedingly bright f/1.8 constant maximum aperture, which suits its use in difficult lighting conditions and offers impressive depth of field control throughout the zoom range. The optical design incorporates a series of SLD and aspherical elements, which help to achieve high clarity and sharpness by suppressing various aberrations, color fringing, and distortion. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied, too, which controls lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy. Balancing the optical merits, this 18-35mm also sports an advanced Hyper Sonic Motor, along with an internal focusing design, to promote fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance.

As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications.

Wide-to-normal zoom is designed for DX-format Nikon F-mount cameras and provides a 27-52.5mm equivalent focal length range.

Impressively bright constant f/1.8 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in low-light conditions and also provides greater control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.

Five Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements are featured in the optical design and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

Four aspherical elements are used to help limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.

A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.

Integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), along with an internal focusing system, realizes quick and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations. Additionally, a brass bayonet affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.

This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the aperture step in .1 increments? Such as 2.0 to 2.1 to 2.2 or are there larger jumps like most photography lenses?

A: the step is on 1/3 increments.

Q: 2. will this lens work on my Sony A77?

A: As the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Sony Alpha uses the Sony Alpha/Minolta MAXXUM AF lens mount, and the Sony Alpha a77 Mirrorless Digital Camera also uses the Sony Alpha/Minolta MAXXUM AF lens mount, both items are fully compatible with each other.

Q: 3. Which is the best Adapter to attach this on sony a7s II ?

A: this lens is not for full frame.

Q: 4. Will this lens work for canon T3i? Thanks!

A: It will, yes! I purchased it when I had a Canon 7D and now use it on the Canon 70D, both of which have the same mount as the T3i (Canon EF). GREAT lens.

Q: 5. Does this specific model come with the firmware update that fixed the auto focusing issue in live view for the nikon d5300? Sigma put a sticker on the lenses/box with the fix that says NIkon d5300 compatible.

A: If the sticker is on the box, one would assume it does. However, what you really should do is buy the USB dock, by which all new updates can be added and you can tweak focussing across the zoom range.

Q: 6. Can the focus and aperture both be adjusted manually on this lens?

A: Yes, set your camera to manual focus and manual exposure. You will then manually focus the lens on the lens itself, and set the aperture via the dial on the camera body.

Q: 7. What if you don't want shallow depth of field but rather increased long depth of field as in a landscape?

A: This is probably the best and sharpest lense for an aps-c sensor camera. You can increase your f-stop and camera shake shouldn't be an issue. Just remember to utilize all the camera settings such as your ISO and be mindful of the shutter speed. If your still worried you can always stabilize the camera with a tripod or monopod.

Q: 8. Can I mount this lens on canon APS-C camera body or do I have to buy Canon mount lens only ??

A: Thank you for your interest in Sigma products. The Sigma 18-35mm ART lens comes in Canon, Nikon, Sigma , Sony and Pentax mount. Make sure to click on Canon EF mount on the product page if you own a Canon camera: https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/967344-REG/sigma_18_35mm_f1_8_dc_hsm.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/967344-REG/sigma_18_35mm_f1_8_dc_hsm.html/a

Q: 9. i have canon 750d wil it work on tht

A: Yes. It's made for APS sensors.

Q: 10. Just curious... looking at one of the reviews for Sigma 18-35mm 1.8... how can this lens be considered a CON for its performance in low light? It's a f/1.8... and with a Metabones Speedbooster improves to f/1.2... can someone tell me how someone can honestly say this lens suffers from low light capability? Am I missing something here?

A: I got this lens specifically for its low-light capability, but with an aperture this (physcally) large, focus is critical. It is necessary to check the focus with this lens and autofocus isn't 100 percent reliable in low light. If the light is really low, your eyes may also struggle too. This is going to be true of most lenses. This lens sometimes misses its focus a bit, but not that often, and nobody else even makes a zoom this fast for Nikon, Canon, or Sony dSLRs.

[f/1.8] I always heard great things about this lens and after way too long finally pulled the trigger on one. I was always in love with the colours of the art series lenses especially the reds, and magentas and that's pretty much maintained in this lens. It feels great balance wise so I'm not too fussed about the weight. Handles glare like a champ and I couldn't be more pleased with the contrast.

[0.23x] I bought this lens shortly before a family event to use with my GH4 and I was blown away by the images. I'm an aspiring photographer/videographer and I feel like a pro with this lens. Images are sharp and colors look gorgeous. As a videographer using a rig with a follow focus, it was nice that I can zoom in or out without changing the length of the lens so I don't need to move the follow focus. Can't say enough great things about it!

[72 mm (Front)] This lens is really special. The results are spectacular.
The only drawback is the lack of image stablization.

[f/16] How do prime lenses compare to this one? Let me put it this way: there are better prime lenses out there. A Canon 35mm 1.4 is far superior in quality and bokeh and color and blah blah blah. But for documentary filmmakers, this is a must have because it is the best 18mm f1.8. It is also the best 21mm f1.8. And the best 24mm 1.8, and 28mm 1.8, and 35mm 1.8. You get the picture. 1.8 is usually reserved for prime lenses alone. In this zoom, you have all of these primes at your fingertips. And it is better than all those other 1.8 primes out there. Absolutely stunning in low light. Extremely sharp. Requires precision. This is not a 24-105 f4 where everything is kind of in focus, but also not. This lens can be VERY sharp. But you have to make it that way. The color accuracy is great, and it goes great with the 50-100mm f1.8. Those are the only two lenses I use now.

[f/16] Words can't express how much I love this lens. The images this lens can produce makes me overlook it's weight. It's made for APS-C sensor cameras, but will definitely work on full frame cameras. With a crop factor that is. There's nothing bad I can say about this lens. If you're looking for a fast zoom lens then this one is for you!

[f/16] Okay this lens is pretty heavy. But the quality of the photos are amazing. I initially thought that quality wouldn't be as good but my expectations were exceeded. I was using a 50mm Nikon 1.8 before, but I like the 18-35 range a lot more because I can get closer to my subjects. So far so good, few auto focusing issues (misses on occasion) but I use the manual mode on this lens more since it makes it easier for me. The build quality of the lens is also amazing. I've been using it on a Nikon D5500 so this set up will suffice me until I decide to go full frame. I may even get the 50-100mm sigma lens as well.

[Autofocus] I've used this lens numerous times in the past, borrowing from friends or other photographers and have wanted to get one for myself for quite some time. Glad I finally did!
As expected from Sigma, the pictures come out super crisp and sharp. Focus control and zoom are very smooth and easy to use. The only con I've found with this lens so far is that the auto focus motor is a little slow and noise, but not a huge deal if you shoot manual stills. Definitely makes me want to buy more from Sigma.

[Autofocus] Lens is mounted to a Canon R50. AF is snappy, and the lens is made of high quality materials.
