Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I use a Microphone Madness MM-MSLM Omnidirectional MatchStick Lapel Microphone (Black) with the Zoom H1N. Are there any adapters that I should have between the two or can the mic just plug into the recorder?

A: You don't need any adapters. It's a 3.5mm mic in on the H1 and a 3.5mm on the lav's connector. All you have to do is plug it in.

Q: 2. I want to use this microphone with Tascam DR_05 recorders. Is that possible? Does the recorder supply the power? The tech page notes -- Requires a bias voltage of 1.5 to 10 VDC (plug-in power) or a battery module.

A: The Tascam DR-05 is able to supply plug-in power to mics that require it.

Q: 3. Looking at this, the Countyman B6 and the Sanken COS-11D for a documentary I'm doing for a hospital in a small African country this summer. I know the B6 and 11D are highly regarded, but given the $ and my need for 2-3 mics while paying for them out-of-pocket, I want to find the best bang-for-buck without sacrificing a lot in sound quality. My big question before trying it is, how is the self-noise and handling-noise on this unit? Thx in advance.

A: The Microphone Madness MM-MSLM is an excellent microphone for the money, relatively quiet, and not too bad on the handling noise. You may want to pick up some hush lav quieting sleeves (used with the sanken lavs) to better isolate the microphone from rustling noise. Also, please not the microphone requires power via bias voltage; 1 to 9 VDC.

Q: 4. Does this work with the DJI Mic?

A: Yes, the DJI offers 3.5mm jacks which the mic will adapt to.

Q: 5. Does this mic give the left ear to one mic and the right ear to the other or does it do a mixdown into one mono channel?

A: Based on the description, this unit will output both sources to a mono input. This would suggest that both sources will be mixed together going into any device.

Q: 6. I want to plug this mic into a wireless pack for stereo recording. Is that possible?

A: This is not a stereo microphone. It would capture a voice in mono, which is usually most ideal for clear capture of speech. Please e-mail us at audio@bhphoto.com , or live chat with us, so we can discuss what you are trying to record in more detail, and check compatibility with your wireless system.

Q: 7. How long is the cable?

A: 6 foot long from mike to plug tip. Hope this helpsJack

Q: 8. Does it work with wireless equipment? Sennheiser G3/Rodelink, etc?

A: This lavalier mic does have a 3,.5mm connection,.and it will work well with the Rode Wirelss Go system. But be aware that the Sennheiser systems as well as the Rodelink systems require a locking 3.5mm connection, so this mic may not make a secure connection and can easily pop out with those transmitters.

Q: 9. I want to use this microphone with a wireless pack to record in stereo. Will it plug in to a wireless pack or does it need to plug in directly to the recording device?

A: This can work with some wireless systems. Please contact us at 800-606-6969, via live chat, or at audio@bhphoto.com so we can further discuss what you are trying to record, and help you find the best solution.

Q: 10. can I used this with the saramonic wireless transmitter receiver system?

A: Yes you can.

[9 x 5.8 x 0.8"] I've been using two of these for 6 years now and I love the audio quality I get out of these little lapel mics. I am in the market for one with a locking 3.5mm and wish they made a version with that feature.

[9 x 5.8 x 0.8"] I use this for wedding video shoots and I love how easy it is to conceal such a small microphone. Huge benefit in that line of work to not see the cables or microphones. Sound quality is great, not perfectly flat frequency response, but perfectly usable and easy to tune up in post.

[0.15 lb] After 2+ years, this mic has been perfect. I would order it again and again. Great value for money, pairs very well with Rycote Under/Over covers

[9 x 5.8 x 0.8"] I have been using this microphone for about 6 years now - mostly for corporate events / weddings and the occasional narrative / commercial. I try to baby it when I have it stored and when the shoot isn't too hectic but I've definitely abused this mic on some events and it just keeps on working. The microphone is TINY so I just assume it is fragile but I've had two of these and none of them have failed me yet in 6 years. Great mic especially for the price.
