A: This cable will not work with the retina MacBook because the retina MacBook has no Thinderbolt capability. The retina MacBook has a USB-C port but it only supports USB 3.1, not Thunderbolt. This adapter requires that Thundebolt 3 be supported behind a USB-C type port in the computer. As of July 2016, no Mac supports Thunderbolt 3 behind a USB-C connector, although this capability will most likely be integrated in Macs coming out in the fall 2016.

A: Unfortunately, we cannot recommend daisy chaining through multiple adapters and generations of cabling. We are unable to guarantee it would work.

A: I bought it to use with the headphone that has built in microphone but it did not work with my laptop Lenovo ThinkPad. I returned it.

[Yes] I have a 2010 and 2015 27 iMacs, so I use this cable in conjunction with the older iMac as a second display in target display mode. Plug the cable and boot both machines, press cmd+F2 on the old iMac and presto, dual display system (note: in order to use the newer iMac as an externar display you need a different cable, but with the older models it works just fine). 5

[Yes] I bought this cable to be able to use my iMac 27 2009 as a large external monitor for my 2015 MacBook i7 15. It allows me to use both screens, the large one to work on and the MacBook monitor to hold my windows and tools. The first cable I was sent was in the right bag but was the wrong cable. This one was correct and stays in place and makes a solid contact. There are no cons. 5
