The Schneider 6.6x6.6" 3mm Orange True-Streak Filteris designed to be used perpendicular to a point light source such as the sun, a light bulb, or a candle. Within the filter's glass is a combination of fine line types whose action is limited to point light sources. Upon those light sources, those lines create the effect of a scene or image that has been recorded with an anamorphic lens and then displayed using a complementary reverse projection lens. This can result in prominent, elongated streaks that are symmetric and extend horizontally from each point light source for the purpose of drawing attention to a specific part of the frame, or to create a visually dramatic effect.

If an image or footage is captured with an anamorphic lens for the primary purpose of obtaining a greater aspect ratio than what is possible when only using spherical lenses on a 35mm format, the direct result will appear compressed and distorted. Projecting this compressed and distorted footage or imagery through a reverse anamorphic projection lens allows elements within the scene to be viewed in their correct proportions. A complementary effect of this process after it is completed is the creation of elongated, blue-colored, horizontally symmetrical highlights from point light sources that can extend through the frame.

Many cinematographers and photographers find this effect desirable and the Schneider 6.6 x 6.6" 3mm Orange True-Streak Filter is intended to allow such highlights to be easily reproduced when using optics that do not have an anamorphic design. This filter renders the streaks it helps to create with an orange hue, instead of the blue highlights generated when using traditional anamorphic optics that are not designed to suppress streaking. True-Streak Filters that are formulated to create red, yellow, green, blue, pink, or violet banding instead of orange are also available, as well as Clear True-Streak Filters that can allow existing colors or lack of colors displayed by point light sources to be maintained.

The line types within this filter's glass are placed 3mm apart from each other. True-Streak Filters with spaces of 4mm, 2mm, or 1mm between their lines are also available where this filter type's effect becomes progressively stronger as the spacing between those lines is decreased.

This filter is most effective for pictures where the light source used to generate the streak effect is a highlight with a significant degree of contrast from the rest of the image. It is constructed from water white glass for clarity as well as color fidelity.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will a Nikon D750 with an 85mm prime lens attached fit? If so, will an extra small lens also fit?

A: Yes you can fit a Nikon D750 with a Nikon 85mm lens into this bag.

Q: 2. Will Canon EOS 7D with 15-85 IS + 50MM 1.8+ Speedlite 600EX-RT + Extra Battery will fit into it?

A: I fit a camera of comparable size and lenses in the bag - Nikon D800. You'll be able to fit the camera and either an additional lens OR a speedlite inside the bag. There is an additional pouch outside the bag. I fit a water bottle in this pouch. It's not secure though so you may not be comfortable placing expensive equipment in it. Additionally, the padded liner inside can be removed to create more space. I take out the padding when I'm shooting with a battery pack/grip on.

Q: 3. It looks like the main compartment would easily accommodate my Lumix FZ1000 and a flash unit. Would 8x42 roof prism binoculars fit in the expandable front compartment? Thanks.

A: Yes, but it may be a bit bulky, you may have to arrange things to get the right fit.

Q: 4. Can it accomodate a Nikon D810 with an attached 24-70?

A: I wouldn't recommend it. That combo is 12 inches long and would take up most of the room in the bag lengthwise with the dividers removed. You would have no room for any extra lenses or a flash, only room for an extra battery and a filter or two. If you only need this one lens and you don't carry a flash, it will work. But I recommend something larger for this combo. Try the Lowepro website. They have a bag finder app that matches your equipment to the bag(s) that will accommodate it. Good luck.

Q: 5. What are the differences between the Sling II and the Sling III? The overall size appears to be identical. From the video and photos, it looks like the insert has been redesigned (one side removable on Sling II vs. internal divider removable on Sling III). I cannot tell if the Sling II has the dedicated space for a small tablet and the zippered mesh pocket at one end of the Sling III.

A: Hi,Sorry that I didn't answer before (I usually use a different email than the one that B+H used.)I have the sling III. It has the room for a tablet (but I was able to stuff other things there instead when I wasn't carrying a tablet) and the mesh pocket. The internal divider (removeable) has an divider so you can make two compartments or one big one. There's a small mesh pocket with a key chain.I bought this because of the additional storage possibilities. These do not make the overall bag bigger than the sling II (at least I didn't notice it while I was in the store.)This bag is awesome. Sometimes I got so much stuff in it besides the camera that it was just as good as a backpack and the ease of pulling out the camera is the best. Just a zip and out it comes. Very sturdy bag but doesn't look like a camera bag (good for urban trips) and very comfortable because it is a sling. IMO, you won't be sorry.

Q: 6. I would be carrying a Canon 50D with a battery grip, and two lenses. Anyone know, 1) if this could reasonably accommodate a DSLR with a battery grip, and 2) if you could actually carry a flash and an extra lens for a total of body, 2 lenses and flash?

A: I carry a Nikon D5300 which is a smaller body with an 18-300mm f3.5 lens with lens facing up in the bag, can also carry a flash and another lens. The width of the bag is not very wide, so may be tight for a camera with battery grip and if a large lens attached to it.

Q: 7. Can I fit an 11 MB AIR in the space provided for a tablet?

A: Sorry - just saw this e-mail. I think it would be tight to put the 11 MC Air in the bag. If you don't have too much else (photo equipment) in I think it would fit. I only use my bag for photo and I can get a lot in the bag of that. I love the bag! Glad I bought it!

Q: 8. Does this bag hold a 2020 12.9 iPad Pro?

A: Yes, it will hold a 12.9 Ipad pro.

Q: 9. Can this be comfortably worn on the side of the body instead of behind? I will be taking a trip through third world countries and do not wish to wear the bag on my back as i would a knapsack. I would prefer to wear it on my side or towards the front of my body. Thanks.

A: Yes I actually find it more comfortable to wear on the side (under my arm) or in front when walking in large crowds. Its a fantastic, light and roomy bag that won't attract a lot of attention.

Q: 10. Is this bag waterproof?

A: No, the Lowepro Passport Sling III, is not waterproof.

[2-Point Streak] I filter a lot and have found it to be a kind of secret weapon for my clients, who can see I'm getting images my contemporaries can't. I have a lot of car clients and generally shoot small to medium budget online spots. The blue streak can be done in post no doubt, but in camera it is just magnificent. Very cinematic! You can't use it all the time though! So it's a lot of money for a trick you can only pull every now and again... but what a trick it is!

[2-Point Streak] What more can I say but WOW!!! A fantastic filter that creates a fantastic effect. I love the effect that 2mm streak produces but some it may be a little much and some people may wanna look into the 3mm for shorter streaks, but for the work I do the 2mm is perfect.

[Glass] This is a really great filter for effects shots. If your using this filter with studio lights be mindful of your light positions. If they are really close to the camera you get less streak(so I discovered). If your lights are afurther from the camera(15-20 feet) you get more streak. It's a must to have a matte box with a rotating filter holder with this product so you can turn the streaks any way you want them. It's a neat filter, I'm looking forward to using it again.
