The MVH500AH Fluid Video Head with Flat Base from Manfrotto is designed with a wide platform, optimal for HDSLR camera bodies. Smooth and precise, it has a maximum load capacity of 17.6 lb and professional quality fluid cartridges on both its pan and tilt axes. It has a pre-set spring-loaded counterbalance of 5.3 lb, its lateral tilt range is -70°/+90° and it provides 360° panning rotation.

The side lock system on the MVH500AH allows the camera and sliding QR plate to click quickly into the head from above, instead of needing to be aligned and slid in from the back. This makes it easier and safer to mount your camera on this head. The head attaches to a tripod via a 3/8"-16 thread and includes a 500PLONG sliding balance plate with a captive 1/4"-20 tie-down screw and a 3/8"-16 adapter bushing. It also provides an Easy Link 3/8" connector on the side of the head to attach accessories such as a video monitor.

The MVH500AH is made from aluminum alloy, measures 3.74" high and provides a bubble level and precision control handle.

A: It will not.

A: Yes, it comes with everything pictured

A: It will, although the base of the head is smaller than the adapter at 60mm. It will just sit in the center.

A: Sorry, but you have to level this tripod the old fashioned way, one leg at a time.

Q: 6. Which carrying bag fit with this Manfrotto MT190x3?

A: The combined folded length of this head and leg kit is 27.36 so I would suggest either the MB MBAG75PN (padded) or MB MBAG75N (unpadded).

Q: 7. I have an old Bogen 3021 tripod. Wanting a better head for it. Will this fit and be a good choice? I do lots of video and still phots and need better ability to pan and smoothly move the camera

A: Pans and tilts pretty smoothly for the low cost. Pan is a little tight even when you back off the lock screw. Tilt drag can be adjusted a bit better than pan.

Q: 8. It has the knob on the right to tighten the plate and make sure it doesn't fall. Does it have a another safety lock to make sure the camera and plate doesn't fall off?

A: There is no safety lock on the plate itself. The Manfrotto 500 head has a knob that you twist and lock then you push down to allow the plate to slide on and off. When the knob is tighten and upright, the plate is locked in place.

Q: 9. Will this work with the Manfrotto MT055XPRO3?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto MVH500AH and the Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 will work together.

Q: 10. I'm a brand new filmmaker. Do I need a quick release plate or can I just buy this and a tripod?

[+90° to -70°] The MVH500 pro fluid video head we had on our tripod would not come to a level. So I called B &H and they were great in replacing it. They sent me a shipping label and I returned the product. They turned it around in minimal time and I have not had a problem since. 5

[Yes] I use Manfrotto exclusively, so all my camera's have plates and I can interchange. Tripod, slider, jib, teleprompter. All have Manfrotto quick release plates, so anything can fit everything, Manfrotto heads in my opinion are the best bang for the buck, bar non. 5

[Fluid Head] Great smooth fluid head--perfect for DSLR and even Micro 4/3 cameras. Easy to configure and set up. I'm actually using this on an older Bogen/Manfrotto stand but it fits perfectly. Ease of adjustment and nice quick release plate. Nice that it has ability to add additional handle as well as additional hardware rack. Good head at a decent price. 5

[+90° to -70°] The head is supplied with the LONG plate, which makes it impossible to change the battery of an XA20 without removing the camera from the tripod, then unscrewing the plate from the camera. I don't like the thought of doing that in the field. I have ordered the short plate and assume that will eliminate the problem, but that's an extra expense!THE GOAL: A LIGHTWEIGHT SETUP ... This head with the XA20 (handle attached), a Manfrotto 535 carbon fiber video tripod, a Sennheiser shotgun mike with K6 powering module, an LCD hood, a lens hood, and an Auray shock mount weighs in at just 11-1/4 pounds. My old Bogen tripod and head alone weigh two pounds more than that!! I am pleased.The head works fine based on preliminary tests. Just what I expected. Just what I need ... except for the plate part. 5

[+90° to -70°] This is my second MVH500A head, the first one is the flat base, I bought this for my Miller Carbon Fiber which had the 60mm bowl. I do a lot of wedding videos and this heads never failed me. I highly recommend this one. 5

[Yes] It has improved from the previous model with a longer plate for more support. I shoot a lot of weddings and one of the biggest thing is that I'm able to detach and attach the plate easily and quickly for the fast pacing shoots all the time. 5

[Yes] I used this on a flat base by removing the bold and tightener on the bottom of the ball part, works fine that way too. Nice and smooth motion and great stability. Using it with a Canon EOS R and a few lenses, it's very fluid. The price is right for someone like me who is not a videographer and only needs for small jobs and occasional video projects. I'm sure even a professional videographer will make good use of this, but your camera size and weight will start to play into it more. If I do video it's mainly the camera and lens. No external monitors or on camera lighting or large lenses. 5

[+90° to -70°] The manfrotto fuild head has be wonderful. Took it to the mountains on a video shoot and it worked as expected. 5
