Vienna Symphonic Library Saxophones - Vienna Instrumentsfrom the Vienna Symphonic Library Saxophones - Vienna Instrumentsis a sample-based virtual instrument with an emphasis on both orchestral settings as well as for jazz compositions. Instruments include the soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass saxophone.

Many articulations are included, including those specifically required for jazz and big band writing, such as bends, tongue slaps, growling, screams, extended flageolets, key sounds, etc. Also included are long and short downward ending phrases triggered as release samples, along with breathy tones.

The Vienna Instruments user interface is clearly arranged and includes pre-configured patches for immediate playability with no learning curve. The interface uses a powerful proprietary streaming audio engine that can load up to 3,456 articulations (patches) on one MIDI channel.

Load times are extremely low and sixty-four stereo voices per instance can stream from the hard disc. A RAM optimizing utility clears unused samples out of RAM. Users can easily create their own instruments, using "drag and drop" functionality, and the instrument provides the ability for velocity crossfades and release control to be switched on or off in real time.

Q: 1. Hello do they work with the quantum QT flash?

A: This battery is compatible with the Quantum Q series flashes.

Q: 2. I use the Quantum power pack with Canon's 580II speedlight, which has a function for external power that I set: C12=1. I use 4 Eneloop AA batteries. When I use the camera with speedlite as far as I can tell all the power comes from the batteries. After an hour's shoot as fas as I can tell I have not drawn at all on the power of the battery pack. What is going wrong?

A: In my experience with the Canon 600 series speedlight, the Quantum Power pack appears to assist the batteries inside the speedlight. I notice that:- recharging time is much faster, - the speedlight batteries do discharge (but more slowly than without the Quantum),- after many flashes, the Quantum does drain its power level (4 LEDs becomes 3 LEDs becomes 2 LEDs (I've never drained the Quantum beyond 2 LEDs)). - If the batteries inside the speedlight are exhausted, the Quantum alone will not power the speedlight.

Q: 3. Does Quantum Turbo SC work with Nikon SB600 speed light?

A: It will not. The sb600 circuit board does not have enough voltage for the high capacity turbo. But it loves the sb800. Take care

Q: 4. Can it work with YN-622C / YN-622C-TX triggers ?Can this flash obtain E-TTL settings via hot shoe ?Can I use IMMLTPBP battery pack wtih this flash ?Thanks

A: Visit Quantum on line for all your answers.

Q: 5. I currently have 430EXll Cannon Speedlight, is the Turbo 3 Rechargeable Battery by Quantum campatable with this?

A: Unfortunately, the Canon 430EX II is not compatible with the Quantum Turbo line of batteries. It is compatible with the QB1+ battery (B&H # QUQB1P), though. You would just need the MB5 (B&H # QUMB5). Otherwise, to use the Turbo batteries, you would need to upgrade flashes to the 580EX II or 600EX-RT.

Q: 6. Will this work with the Nikon SB-5000?

A: Yes it does! I've been using this cable with all of my Nikon flashes since the SB-800 (then the 910, and now the 5000). Works like a dream

Q: 7. Can I use this Quantum flash off camera with a Pocket Wizard?

A: no, you cannot!

Q: 8. i have 3 freewire FW10 units, can i use a freewire FW8R with them?

A: The FW8R and FW10w are fully compatible with one another.

Q: 9. Currently, the EN-EL4 will give me about 325 to 340 shots at around 25 to 30 second exposures for star trails and time lapses. I know these things vary with application but Nikon rates the batter to 4000 regular exposures. How much longer can this batter last than 1 EN-EL4?

A: Quantum does not list how long it will last with a camera. There are many variables. But the battery is a lot stronger than then an EN-EL4 battery. My guess is at least two times longer than what you are getting with the EN-EL4 battery and how you shoot.

Q: 10. Hello does this work with the quantum QT flash?

A: It would depend on the specific model Quantum Instruments flash you own as to how you would connect your flash to the Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack. If you own one of the Quantum Instruments Qflash TRIO flashes (which have a removable power cable), if you no longer have the original power cable, you may purchase and connect the Quantum Instruments CQ2 Power Cable for Turbo Series Battery Packs & Qflash Trio Flash Units, B&H # QUCQ2, to the power socket on your flash, and connect the other end to the power socket on the Turbo SC Battery Pack. If you are referring to the Quantum Qflash T5Dr, as it has a built-in power cable, you would connect the T5Dr's power cable to the power socket on the Turbo SC Battery Pack.

Really fantastic big string sound in the VSL instrument family.

a great closely MICed string ensemble. great for small orchestra work. Definetly a learning curve to figure things out, but rewards when you do.

Lots of articulations that play well together. I also find the synchron player easier/faster to use than Vienna's older Vienna Instrument player or Kontakt based sample sets.

LOTS of articulations that play well with each other. The Synchron Player is also much easier to use than either Kontakt based sample libraries or Vienna's earlier Vienna Instruments based libraries.

Lots of articulations that play well together. I also find the synchron player easier/faster to use than Vienna's older Vienna Instrument player or Kontakt based sample sets. Note that Elite sits somewhere between Chamber and Pro/I orchestra in terms of number of strings. I find that the number of strings in the Pro/I orchestra is enough that you lose some of that sense of 'bow on string'. With Elite you still hear some of that 'bow on the string'. Layering Elite on Pro is also really useful.

It's not a big sample library but the bell tones are excellent! I could not find a comparable library for this type of bell sound from the other big name sample library companies, so this fills a niche missed by others.
