The Manfrotto MVH500AH Fluid Head & 755CX3 Tripodfrom Manfrotto MVH500AH Fluid Head & 755CX3 Tripodincludes a flat base fluid video head, a flat base two-stage tripod, and a black and red over-the-shoulder carrying bag. The bag is padded, has a zipper running along its full length, and fits the tripod and head.

The head features a wider-than-standard platform to provide better support for DSLRs. The maximum load capacity is 17.6 lb. A 500PLONG quick release plate is included, and a side lock system on the head allows the plate to efficiently attach and click in from above, instead of aligning and sliding in from one end. Fluid cartridges on both the pan and tilt axes provide resistance for smooth, controlled pan and tilt. The tilt range is -70° / +90° and the pan rotation is 360°. The spring-loaded counterbalance is preset at 5.3 lb. The camera plate has both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera screws, and the head has a 3/8"-16 tripod mounting thread, with a 3/8" thread on the side for attaching accessories, such as a video monitor.

The tripod extends in two stages from 18.3 to 54.7" at the release of flip-lever lock clamps. Additionally, a center column is adjustable up and down to extend the maximum height to 64.6". The center column can also be removed entirely and used handheld with a camera still attached. The tripod legs are made of carbon fiber, which is lightweight in comparison to aluminum, absorbs vibrations better, and is immune to corrosion from water, including salt-water.

A: The adapter is a plate that fits into the pan head and is much wider than the Arca Swiss heads. To make it work, you either have to screw the plate into the hole on the Arca Swiss L-bracket or permanently mount an Arca-swiss type clamp to the Manfrotto adapter plate with screws. (I prefer the former.) Having said that, I mount the the panhead on my RRS tripod with a dovetail plate screwed into the bottom of the panhead and use a RRS clamp on top of the tripod.

[32.5 x 8 x 8"] This is my second MVH500A head, the first one is the flat base, I bought this for my Miller Carbon Fiber which had the 60mm bowl. I do a lot of wedding videos and this heads never failed me. I highly recommend this one. 5

[8.4 lb] I used this on a flat base by removing the bold and tightener on the bottom of the ball part, works fine that way too. Nice and smooth motion and great stability. Using it with a Canon EOS R and a few lenses, it's very fluid. The price is right for someone like me who is not a videographer and only needs for small jobs and occasional video projects. I'm sure even a professional videographer will make good use of this, but your camera size and weight will start to play into it more. If I do video it's mainly the camera and lens. No external monitors or on camera lighting or large lenses. 5

[32.5 x 8 x 8"] The head is supplied with the LONG plate, which makes it impossible to change the battery of an XA20 without removing the camera from the tripod, then unscrewing the plate from the camera. I don't like the thought of doing that in the field. I have ordered the short plate and assume that will eliminate the problem, but that's an extra expense!THE GOAL: A LIGHTWEIGHT SETUP ... This head with the XA20 (handle attached), a Manfrotto 535 carbon fiber video tripod, a Sennheiser shotgun mike with K6 powering module, an LCD hood, a lens hood, and an Auray shock mount weighs in at just 11-1/4 pounds. My old Bogen tripod and head alone weigh two pounds more than that!! I am pleased.The head works fine based on preliminary tests. Just what I expected. Just what I need ... except for the plate part. 5

[8.4 lb] I was happy with Benro heads until I tried Manfrotto. There is a noticable difference. This has a much smoother pan and tilt. I use this with a 5D3 and 70D. Although it is a ball head, it can be used with any tripod or accessory that accepts a 3/8 thread. Solid build construction. Worth the money. 5
