Vienna Instruments - Brass I from Vienna Symphonic is a sample-based virtual instrument, featuring the basic brass instruments of the orchestra, both as solo instruments and the corresponding ensembles. These include the Trumpet, Viennese Horn, Tenor Trombone, Tuba, Trumpet Ensemble (3 players,) Horn Ensemble (4 players) and Trombone Ensemble (3 players.)

The four original performers are masters of their trade. Trumpet player Freddy Staudigl, Horn player Marcus Schmidinger and Trombone player Johann Schodl are not only founding members of the renowned ensemble "Brassissimo," but are also active as soloists and orchestral musicians on an international level. The Tuba player Christoph Kiene is also internationally known as a lecturer.

Apart from the usual articulations, this Vienna Instruments Collection also provides fast Interval Performances in legato and marcato, Performance Trills, arpeggios (major, minor and diminished in legato and staccato) and mordents. Trumpet and trombone offer the complete muted playing techniques, not only as solo instruments but also in the ensembles.

Another specialty is the trumpet ensemble's "out of tune" sustains, as they occasionally happen in real orchestral situations. The three trumpet players don't hit the note exactly at the beginning of a part and a beat frequency ensues which is corrected as the tone progresses, eventually resulting in a clean homophony. The trumpets also feature "rips and falls."

The trombone ensembles also offer a specialty. Clusters of three notes with half tone intervals are available in staccato (two variations,) sustained, crescendo and diminuendo (in two tone lengths,) sforzato, and even as Repetition Performances.

A: That flash does work with the Norman batteries. There is one Quantum flash that works with the 400B battery with the use of an adapter. The flash is the QFX model. The link for that is, http://bhpho.to/1efe2TGAnd the adapter is, http://bhpho.to/Kt2SS9This flash is not a shoe mount flash. A: Unfortunately, the Canon 430EX II is not compatible with the Quantum Turbo line of batteries. It is compatible with the QB1+ battery (B&H # QUQB1P), though. Albums are really very lovely. I like them and will use them.

I would have liked to have an option to also have full page self-adhesive pages. I cannot find self-adhesive pages to fit these albums and do not want top loading pages. Advise on this would be appreciated.

Best piano library I've experienced. Vibrant sound, customization and dynamics are all there. If you are into CFX or trying to add it to your arsenal, do not hesitate.

LOTS of articulations that play well with each other. The Synchron Player is also much easier to use than either Kontakt based sample libraries or Vienna's earlier Vienna Instruments based libraries.

This is my seventh virtual piano. See my review of the Bösendorfer also by VSL — this is just as supremely recorded and I prefer the Steinway sound. It's hard to see how anyone will ever do any better than this. There are 10 different microphone positions (plus the room mix which incorporates several of them in the standard library; I think the full library gives added richness). I use eight of them (not the Main or the main-C) and the plate reverb at 30% which I like better than the algorithmic reverb or the delay. If you can't afford the full, the standard will still be superior to anything else out there.

Lots of articulations that play well together. I also find the synchron player easier/faster to use than Vienna's older Vienna Instrument player or Kontakt based sample sets. Note that Elite sits somewhere between Chamber and Pro/I orchestra in terms of number of strings. I find that the number of strings in the Pro/I orchestra is enough that you lose some of that sense of 'bow on string'. With Elite you still hear some of that 'bow on the string'. Layering Elite on Pro is also really useful.

The Synchron interface is SO much easier to use (than the former Vienna Symphonic Instruments plugin). Sound quality and playability are impeccable.

It's not a big sample library but the bell tones are excellent! I could not find a comparable library for this type of bell sound from the other big name sample library companies, so this fills a niche missed by others.

One of the great things about MOTU Symphonic Instruments is that it runs on G4 processor, and even on 256MB of RAM. Consequently, on the even the cheapest of the modern laptops (just like my 2MB Mac Air Intel i5) it works smoothly and loads all the instruments instantly. To me it's the best thing ever to run software release in 2006 on a 2012 computer, because it just runs great. And the sounds are simply breathtaking. Even the concert piano is mind blowing, really lending itself for classical piano playing in real time from my digital piano keyboard. And the price could not be better with B&H special discount offers. I took advantage of the discount, and I am a very happy camper now. Oh, and the authorization process with iLok is very good. I installed MOTU Symphonic Instruments on two computers, and to run it, I simply insert the iLok USB dongle, and voila. It's simply great.

a great closely MICed string ensemble. great for small orchestra work. Definetly a learning curve to figure things out, but rewards when you do.
