Q: 1. What is the difference between broncolor para HR, para FT and without Letter?

A: The HR designation notes heat resistant for continuous lights up to 2,000W. This includes Paras 88HR and 133HR. Paras 177 and 222 are also rated up to 2,000W.Paras 88 and 133 (non-HR) are only rated up to 650W continuous.Para F Kits include the focusing rod F, compatible with broncolor's adapter system to fit most strobe and HMI lamps.FT kits include the FT focusing rod with integrated electronics for broncolor's HMI and Tungsten FT lamp systems (sold separately).

Q: 2. Does anyone have recommendations as to which stand to use this with? I'm thinking the wheeled either Matthews Senior double riser #H386027 or the junior triple riser #H386033 but can't decide so great to get any insights into this

A: Though not a specific recommendation, you do want meet the minimum weight capacity of the combined Para (approx 30 lbs.) plus the lamp you will be using. With Para 222 specifically, many of our users remark that wind-up or crank-driven riser is much more convenient given the weight of the combined setup as well.

Q: 3. What's the difference between this kit and the FT Kit?

A: The main difference between the units is the BroncolorPara 133 FT Reflector Kit (52 )B&H#BRP133HRRKFT, would be their heat-resistant option designed for use with both hot lights and strobes, and has a maximum wattage recommendation of 2,000W Tungsten / 1600W HMI for hot light usage. The BroncolorPara 133 Reflector Kit with Focusing TubeB&H#BRP133RK, is a more economical option which is designed for strobe usage only, and is not heat-resistant for hot light usage.

Q: 4. Does the Para 177 F Kit include a tilting mount for a lightstand? I know people have mentioned there is a separate mount to buy.

A: A standard swivel mount to Junior Receiver-type stands is included with the Para 177 F-kit. Optionally available is a geared / crank stand adapter that is recommended when using heavier lamps with the Para.

A: For use with a Profoto head, simply swap to the focusing tube F133 (MFR #B-33.705.00 / BH #BRFTF133) instead of the FT focusing tube included in this kit, and Profoto Para Adapter (MFR #B-33.489.03 / BH #BRPAP88FB). Alternatively if you may order Para 133 with the Focusing Tube F133 instead of FT133 if you do not intend to use the FT lamp systems, B&H # BRP133HRFK / MFR # B-33.550.06).

Q: 7. What adapter do I need to use this Para with Siros?

A: You need this adapter to use the Siros Monolight, Broncolor Pulso Head Adapter for Para 88 FB, B&H # BRAPP88FS MFR # B-33.489.00.Note you need to take the dome off of the Siros to use it with this adapter and Para 133.

Q: 8. Is there an adapter available to use this reflector with Photogenic Solairs?

A: Unfortunately, there are no adapters available for the Photogenic Solair to the Broncolor Para 177.

Q: 9. Is the Siros 800L too heavy to be used in the fullt de-fcoused position with this kit?

A: The Siros 800L can be used in the defocused position without diffusion, but we recommend use of a heavier duty stand and proper sandbags for counterweight. When using the accessory diffusion with Para 133, there is a limitation of how far the unit can be defocused due to the physical size to be aware of.

Q: 10. o if also using the para 133 for video and continuous light, the HR feature is needed? Also, am I correct i that the FT version is also required to use the 800L? Does the 800L generate enough power to use the full range of the para 133?

[1.3 lb] The quality of light is unmatched. My only regret - not buying this beauty earlier. The focusing rod and feathering yields a multitudes of variations of lighting on a model. Just gorgeous. 5

[1-Stop] Look... A picture is worth 5,000 words in this case! This modifier can only produce gorgeous light. Effortless to use. Many looks from a single modifier. 5

[1.3 lb] Peerless light output. Excellent build quality, easy setup and teardown. Not sure what that other reviewer's deficiency is, but the Siros lights work with the Para series just fine... you can even find countless images with Siros lights attached to paras. 5

[1-Stop] Easy to set up and use. Great case for carrying in the field - everything is there. I use this for head and shoulder shots and even full body portraits outdoors and in studio. The way it shapes the face and features of the subject is unmatched - and all with a singles source. Mostly shooting defocused but zooming as needed when farther away from the subject or for a more dramatic effect. Quality is excellent so far on the 133. My other Para is a 177 where some of the stitching came undone at the plastic mounts near the outer tips after very few uses. I was able to stitch it back together in those two spots myself after receiving zero response from customer service. I have enquired 4-5 times to Broncolor with other questions and never received a response. For that reason I will stay away from Broncolor for anything other than basic reflectors and soft boxes. 5

[11.2 x 9.2 x 1"] One of the problems with most light modifiers that have parabolic in their name is that they are not. This has some implications for how they work as light shapers. The unique thing about a parabolic reflector is that of you place a light at the ficus, it will be reflected in parallel lines. One immediate consequence is that the inverse square law no longer applies and the light will travel very far and stay bright. You can test if a reflector is parabolic by using a small bright flashlight at the focus point and shine it over the surface of the reflector. If it is parabolic, the reflected light should remain within the diameter of the reflector no matter where it hits the reflecting surface. Alternatively, put a modeling light on and position the flash head at the focus point and check the reflected patch on the wall. If you move the para closer or further away, the size of the patch should not change since the light coming out is coming out in parallel lines and the circle should not get bigger or small as the distance from the wall is changed. The Broncolor Para 133 is exactly what is on the box: parabolic! Of course, considering the fact that I can buy a small car for the same price, it absolutely should be what it says it is! Highly recommended for the lighting effects it can create. 5

[1.3 lb] This diffuser was recommended by Broncolor expert, Urs Recher, to diffuse the glossy surface of the large para when shooting multiple subjects. For one person, the Para 177 or 222 without the diffuser is amazing as is but with 2 or three subjects the one in the center gets the proper light focus and the people to the sides or above and below can pick up some inconsistent reflections. The number 2 diffuser provides one stop of diffusion - enough to even out the lighting across multiple subjects while still maintaining the characteristics of the original 24 reflective panels. It is very well made and fits tight, requiring the points on the outer diameter of the para to be pinched together slightly during application. It's not required but it does add a different look when shooting with the para fully defocused (extended) especially with multiple subjects. 5
