[Aluminum] This little follow focus is perfect for a DSLR setup. Only con is getting the right gear to work with what ever lens gear you own...

[Single-Sided] I'm really impress with the quality and precision of this follow focus, it fits perfectly with Rokinon Cine DS lenses. This was just another great investment I did.

[Aluminum] If you're looking for a reliable follow focus/zoom control that is versatile enough to be used with DSLR as well as mini-DV camcorders in the field and in the studio, and that doesn't cost a minor fortune, this is it. The build quality is excellent, the movements are silky smooth and precise with a surprisingly minimal degree of backlash, and a profile that is compact enough to be unobtrusive but still allow for easy and comfortable access. The unit is machined in solid aluminum (except for the plastic gear, adjustment knobs and marking plate), but isn't too heavy; it's solid enough to withstand rigorous use. Adjustment knobs are located so that there's no fumbling to get to them. A generous range of horizontal gear position adjustment is provided, and the ability to mount the gear on either end of the axle is a plus. There's a movable marker reference that can be rotated around most of the focus wheel's circumference and locked into place to serve as a fixed reference to marks made on the erasable marking plate. I use the unit in conjunction with a Cavision carbon fiber rod system equipped with 35 cm rods and Red Rock microLensGears rings. A Cavision 18 follow focus whip or Cavision speed crank lever have also proven to be quite useful in some shooting situations. The only feature lacking on this unit is focus wheel stops, but I still award five stars to Cavision because they've managed to produce a reliable and sturdy professional-grade follow focus at an unbelievable price-point. This unit won't disappoint, and is worth serious consideration.

[Aluminum] For the cash this follow focus can't be beat. I am currently using it with Rokinon cine primes and it does the job perfectly.

[Yes] I use this FF with my T2i, Nikon primes, Redrock lens gears, and Zacuto SLR base plate and it works great. Using the shorter Nikon primes, its an issue getting the FF close enough to the camera in order to use it. With this FF you can switch which side the gear is on, enabling you to get the FF very close and use shorter lenses. The build quality of this product is very good. Its aluminum construction keeps it light weight for smaller rigs but is heavy duty enough to handle the rigors of everyday shooting. Lastly, the price was perfect for me as an independent film maker. This is the most inexpensive professional FF I've found and I couldn't be happier with it.

[Single-Sided] i have wanted, been dreaming of a follow focus for years not but could never justify the high price for a decent entry level one. finally after poking around i found the cavisions basic follow focus however i wanted more flexibilty and for a little more i got this one. I will note by little more it was relevant to me as it was onsale when i bought it. I after useing this follow foucs i was suprised by its sturdness of the multi position arm. you do not have to over crank the knob to get the arm rock solid. hand tight and a quarter turn is all you need and this baby is locked into position. i read another review priasing this model but saying they couldnt figure out what the lower hex stud adjusts and they cant figure out how to adjust the lower arm. this is not true and all you questions are answered by reading the instructions supplied with the ff. i cant find any noticeable play or backlash in the knod and the gear. it responds to my very touch. just a great unit, fits snug on the rails locks down and does a great job. i should note that it grabs teh rails to well, even when released you really have to work it free in order to reposition it.

[Aluminum] I took advice from a guy who recommended to use it in tandem w/ Redrock Micro gears and have no regrets I followed. The price of FF is unbeatable, the quality and overall design is pretty solid. Only one suggestion: on Canon 5D Mark II w/ Zeiss ZE lenses follow focus unit barely fits under the lens barrel. If it wasn't for Redrock Micro traction ring's enormous width it'd fail to connect properly. It's peculiarity of Zeiss lens design and Cavision base plate riser that kind of both don't let FF to be moved as close to Canon body as possible. Keep it in mind if you plan to use it w/ Zeiss glass and Cavision rig.

[Yes] We bought this follow focus to use with our Canon 1D mark IV and a DSLR rig we have. Once set up, it performed flawlessly with our geared lenses. We are very happy about it and have no problems recommending it to others. It is very flexible and can approach your lens from multiple angles and sides. It also shows minimal backlash with a nice heavy touch to it. The only negative thing about it is it's a bit expensive, but so are all follow focuses and focus is critical. So, if you are looking for a solid follow focus, but do not want to go all the way and buy one that can rival the cost of your camera, this is a good choice for you. Just remember to get the correct gear on it. Film Cine lens gear is 0.8, I think.
