$237.00 $317.58

The edelkrone FocusONE Follow Focus Unit for Filmmakingis a single rod-based follow focus unit that mounts the marking disk between the handwheel and the drive gear, which provides for extremely precise focus marks. The design of the unit allows you to adjust the handwheel to almost any position without affecting the unit's performance. This allows you to adjust the handwheel for your comfort, and it allows you to pull focus from above or below the camera without forcing your hand into an uncomfortable position or needing to use an available focus whip. The unit can also adjust to accommodate pulling focus with virtually any diameter lens that you can use with 15mm support rods, or with 19mm studio rods by using available 19mm to 15mm rod adapters.

The FocusONE features an installed black marking disk with its own index line, and it includes a replacement white focus marking disk. The construction of the unit places the marking disk between the gearbox and the lens drive gear, providing the marking disk with an accurate reading and no play between marking disk and lens drive gear. The disk faces the operator, giving additional confirmation to the operator that the lens is at the proper mark. Adjusting the marking disk is simple, just set the lens where you want it, rotate the disk to the index mark you wish, and you are ready to change focus and come back to the mark you set. The marker disk is made from plastic, and you can place additional index marks on it with available temporary markers of your choice. The unit features an industry-standard 0.8 pitch drive gear, and the gearbox has an adjustment screw so you can set the tension and play to fit your comfort level. An industry-standard whip/crank socket allows you to use an available speed crank or focus whip if you desire.

The single 15mm rod mount design allows you to mount the FocusONE on either side of the lens, or from above if your rod system features a rod above the lens.

The handwheel position is adjustable so you can adjust it for your comfort.

The adjustable design of the unit allows it to work with virtually any diameter lens.

The marker disk is extremely accurate as it is positioned between the gearbox and the lens drive gear, and not subject to play that may be found with some other focus units.

The marker disk is easily viewed by the camera operator, allowing the operator to make precise focus pulls.

The included focus gear belt will fit on a lens with a maximum outer diameter of 3.9". It is designed to be cut to length to fit on your lens so it can be used with shorter lenses. edelkrone recommends using one belt per each lens you need to adapt, and not sharing a belt between lenses Additional belts are available separately.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What company makes this product?

A: This part is made by Axler. Here is a list of additional Axler products we sell. https://bhpho.to/30BXH9Y

Q: 2. can this be mounted to a rod at the top of a cage, like the SmallRig 1/2 cage for an FX3?

A: Yes, you can mount the edelkrone FocusONE v2 Follow Focus Unit to any 15mm rod, including the Smallrig Half Cage for the Sony FX3.

Q: 3. Can the unit be operated from the right side of the camera? Will the white disc be visible?

A: Yes, this follow focus has a Built-In Reversing Gear Unit. You will be able to operate it from the left or right side. However if you operate it on the right side, the white disk will be pointing away from the user of the camera.

Q: 4. How is the backlash/play in this unit? And how would it compare, build-quality and performance-wise, to the Bright Tangerine Revolvr Atom?

A: I would say the lash of these two are comparable. I would also say there is no comparison and that you get much more quality and performance with the Atom.

Q: 5. Can extra marking disks be purchased separately?

A: We do not carry a specifically designed marking disk for this product. Please inquire via info@axlersupports.com

Q: 6. Can I use it on the Ivation Pro Steady DSLR Rig System with Shoulder Mount? Or does it work only on rigs with 15mm Rod Systems?

A: This follow focus lists for use with 15mm rods. It is possible to add a 15mm rod baseplate between the Ivation Pro Steady DSLR Rig System and camera. Product example is CAMVATE Baseplate with 7.9" 15mm Rods for Select Canon/Sony Cameras (Red Wingnut) BH #CAC1519 • MFR #C1519. https://bhpho.to/2EUl4mO

Q: 7. Hi there, do I need anything else for this to work or it will work out of the box with the Revo SR 1500 shoulder rig and a Canon &D Mk II and 24-105 lens? Thanks a lot.

A: You need a lens gear. Get this and cut to size.

Q: 8. Can I use the Edelkrone Controller to control this?

A: Because the edelkrone FocusPLUS PRO Focus Motor does not work independently without the HeadPLUS/HeadPLUS PRO, the edelkrone Controller cannot control the motor by itself. It is listed as incompatible as a direct controller on the edelkrone site.

Q: 9. When using image recognition module, can the Edlekrone system auto focus cinema lenses with the focus motor?

A: No, the Vision Module and the FocusPlus PRO do not interact in that way. They can be used together, but the motor will not adjust focus based on information from the Vision Module.

Q: 10. Will this pair with Headplus V1?

A: For the FocusPLUS PRO to pair, these setups should include one of the following edelkrone Heads: HeadPLUS v2, HeadPLUS v2 PRO, or either of the previous generation HeadPLUS (v1) or HeadPLUS (v1) PRO. FocusPLUS PRO does not pair with HeadONE or Pan PRO.

[Rear] It is really sturdy and it is fixed by just one rail. Because of this it swings out of the way when I bag my rail system. I have broken two FFs sliding them in and out of the truck.

[Yes] I like how adjustable this is, and it feels like a quality item while having a relatively low price. I was worried that I'd have to spend 4 figures on a follow focus, but then I found this. It feels like the more expensive ones, too, and I like how there's a separate disk to mark focus points so that it's easier to clean dry erase markers off of it.

[Rear] I really like this follow focus. It is well made and feels like it too when handling. What I like about this one so much is that you can adjust your target focal point and adjust the disc to that spot then you go to your first set and when you have to go back to your target you hit it just right every time. I did not want a wireless because many times I am a one man shoot. The dial is nicer than a whiteboard type dial as those can easily be wiped off by accident. Although Edelkrone does include a second disk to be marked with markers that you can install if that is what you prefer. Overall, this is well made!

[Single-Sided] I bought this because of the Slider (Which is also fantastic). Great quality build, it's made of Metal (really good weight), and it's extremely smooth. I was initially worried about it slipping on the rod, but it's very snug, no slip. What really sold me on this was the option to use Reverse and Standard Focus, so you don't have to think which way to revolve (there's an extra gear you can move to make contact with the Lens Gear). Also, it fits on any Lens Gear. I use this with my C100 and a monopod / tripod. I recommend using with a Lens with IR, VR or VC. However, I don't think it works with a Ring Light set up (I have one from F and V Lighting), but it touches the right light unit.

[1.465 lb] Honetsly for the price I wasnt expecting much, and I was very surprised  when I got it. The wheel feels good and smooth and overall quality is absolutely correct. Perfect as a starter follow focus, could probably even have his place in a more advanced rig.

[Yes] Made very well... milled parts. No noticeable play in gears. Easy to use especially because the dial is facing toward the camera operator. Great for a one man band.

[Yes] When combined with the Edelkrone Pocket Rig v.3 and a good tripod you've created a perfect unison for focus/stabilization. Amazing for composing your tripod based shots indoor or outdoors, especially when you are shooting wired/wireless tethered where you can move about and compose your next shot. Set It And Forget It!!!!

[Yes] The FocusOne Pro is solidly built and if nicely designed to accommodate lots of different rigs. For instance, I purchased the IndieTools rails for $99 and rented a Red Rock Micro follow focus to use with them. However, the Red Rock Micro follow focus slides onto both rails and the IndieTools rails did not provide enough height for my camera/lens, so the lens was hitting the crossbar of the follow focus! This is of course my fault, but when you're working with rented gear, you can't always check that stuff ahead of time. The FocusOne follow focus attaches to one rail only, meaning that it's as out of the way of your other attachments as it can possibly be. I read another review saying that the one-rail design was a little unstable and that this follow focus sometimes slips out of position, but I haven't had that problem. That reviewer said that s/he uses a few rubber bands to go from the follow focus to the other rail and that keeps it in place. NOTE: if you need a follow focus quickly, this is not for you. As of December 2014, it takes 6-10 weeks to ship (mine took about 8). I suspect they are built to order.
