Q: 8. Why would I add a 577 Quick Release plate? Looks like the head comes with a quick release.

A: It does, but I always buy extra plates because I have several different cameras and it's a pain in the butt to have to remove the plate from one camera to another. Also, if you are starting out and plan on buying more than one tripod, stay with the same brand so that you only need one style of plate.I made the mistake of buying 2 Davis-Sanford tripods when I started out and later wanted higher quality tripod/head system. That's when I changed over to Manfrotto and soon learned on set, that I didn't have the right plates and then had to switch plates on the go. (It was a real pain and inconvenient)

Q: 9. This tripod comes only with one screw to secure the head, is there a different column for this tripod with 3 screws or a better system to secure the mvh502ah?

A: Not that I am aware of. I just spin the ball or video head on and off. There is also a little screw that wedges the head to the tripod to prevent the head from coming loose once mounted.Hope this helps.

A: Quantum Instruments Omicron OM3 TTL is a LED flash and does not have sufficient power for high speed sync.
