$329.97 $395.96

The TrailSeeker Tripod with Fluid Pan Head from Celestron is a 4-section aluminum tripod with a two-way fluid pan/tilt head. It extends from a minimum working height of 18.9" to a maximum of 70.5". Weighing 3.9 lb, the tripod can hold up to 9 lb, whether that be a spotting scope, binocular, camera, small telescope, or other equipment.

The legs can be independently set to three different angles for shooting on an uneven surface. Flip locks allow you to adjust the height of each leg, and a foam grip on two of the legs adds comfort when carrying the tripod, especially in extreme temperatures. The Center column has a ballast hook for adding a counterweight, which will lower the center of gravity, adding stability to the tripod.

The tripod features a 2-way pan/tilt fluid head with one large knob that both controls the tension and locks the head in place. A quick-release plate with a 1/4"-20 threaded stud makes attaching and detaching your equipment quick and easy. Bubble levels help ensure that your camera will be level to the horizon.

Included with the TrailSeeker is a case and shoulder strap to protect your tripod and make transport easier.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I noticed the VT-400 and VT-3000 have the same base price. Any thoughts on why I should buy one versus the other?

A: Stability, size, and height. The VT-3000 is heavier-duty but also a little larger and heavier.

Q: 2. Which is better TRAILSEEKER 10X32 or 8X32 BINOCULARS?

A: Both TrailSeeker model are ideal to own based on your needs. If you require higher magnification, choose the 10x32 model. If you require a closer near focus for bird watching for example, then choose the 8x32 model.

Q: 3. I was looking at the tripod and noticed there is a crank to raise and lower the center column. Is that removable or do you have to use it every time? It seems a bit cumbersome.

A: As far as I can tell, the hand crank is NOT removable. You do NOT need to raise the center post unless you wish to. The hand crank has NOT been an interference to me.

Q: 4. The pictures show a carry bag. Does it come with it?

A: Yes, the Magnus VT-400 Aluminum Tripod System with 2-Way Fluid Pan Head comes with the tripod bag in our images. The bag is included with your purchase of this tripod kit.

Q: 5. Hi! is it possible to remove the mid level spreader and use it with the floor spreader? tx!

A: Yes you may. The Libec SP-2B is the correct floor level spreader to consider, thanks.

Q: 6. does the 75mm ball facilitate quick leveling of the tripod?

A: The main leveling is the adjustable legs, but with the ball, we can level the camera once everything is set up. The ball makes it easier for the final adjustment.

Q: 7. Is the head removable?

A: Correct, that video head will be removable.

Q: 8. Does this tripod have a pan drag knob?

A: William, sorry it does not. It can only tilt and lock.

Q: 9. Can you mount other heads on this tripod? Like a 3 way head to do portraits vertical and horizontal?

A: Sorry, no this head is not removable.

Q: 10. Does the fluid head included with this tripod have separate pan & tilt tension adjustments, or only locks? The fluid head in these images appears to be the Magnus VPH-20, which has separate pan & tilt tension knobs. However, I don't see that feature listed in the specifications for the fluid head included with this tripod.

A: There is some degree of tension adjustment, but it's really had to adjust in that respect. In practice, the controls act more like locks. The tilt action does have a separate knob to adjust tension, but it's really hard to turn that knob, so it's not something you'll want to change a lot. You can set the tension for the camera you'll use, then pretty much want to leave it alone. That is for the tilt, there is no separate tension adjustment for the pan, just the one knob that may allow you to add some tension, but it's not very precise in that respect, mainly just good to lock the pan movement. This tripod is functional for the price, but as with anything you'll get what you pay for. For the price, this is a good tripod, it will do the job and holds up pretty well with use. But don't expect it to function as well as tripods that cost 3-4x as much, that just isn't realistic.

[Pan & Tilt Head] My husband wanted it to put his spotting scope on. He really likes it because you can adjust the height of the tripod. Also it was a really good price.

[Flip Lock] Whoa!! It was quite a surprise to look through these after using our old Bushnells. They're compact and light. Flip down covers and a well padded case are a nice addition. The image is bright, clear, and very sharp. A huge upgrade and totally worth it for my aging eyes. Our birder friends recommended these and they're perfect for us. Nice to have a harness included in the basic kit.

[Flip Lock] I can’t believe how quick and easy it is to use the Celestron Trailseeker Tripod. Birding requires a lot of adjustments in height of the tripod, and this one is so easy to use. In addition, the fluid pan head is quick and allows you to easily get that elusive bird in view. So happy I bought this, well actually it’s a Christmas present from my husband, but I opened it early!
