[Aluminum] I bought this one because I had read reviews about the cheaper one at BnH not being very good. I'm glad I did, this one is very durable, strong and easy to use. highly recommend it.

[Tilt] This is an amazing instrument. From the way it's constructed, ease of use and of course the quality of light. The barn doors are extremely well thought out - it can make a very small circle light at full spot! Great to have instead of schlepping a snoot around. It's expensive, but it's a great light - and very easy to travel with. I also purchased the Chimera that makes it a perfect documentary light. Fits in a Pelican 1560. (they say it's light rain proof for exteriors, but I haven't tried that yet)

[Tilt] I've been a TV photojournalist for over 35 years. I've used every type of camera mounted light that has been around. The switch to camera too LED lights has had its good points and bad. The Zylight Newz virtually gets rid of problems of past lights. The Newz is well made. It's not cheap plastic that switches or knobs fail after exposure to the elements. It's bright but doesn't consume much power. It's ability to change color temperature and intensity is a must. It's weight on a camera is negligible. I purchased this with my own money to use at work. Frankly, I just got tired of the lights I was given at work with. It's been a good investment. I would suggest this for all photojournalist.

[Aluminum] I first saw this product on YouTube ... a videographer was using it to mount his Zoom H4n external sound recorder and I knew it was a must have ( I was looking for a way to mount my Zoom too) I like the fact that the head swivels so you can position the recorder so you can see the recording levels.

[0.75 lb] I recently dove into the video with your dslr world. Video is great, but audio not so much. So using a recorder - Zoom h4n, a good combination was made. But when the recorder is connected to the camera on the hotshoe, the screen it facing up. This makes it hard to see levels and changes things if needed if i need to view the video at the same time. In comes this handy device - The hotshoe mount. Now once this is connected to the hotshoe of the camera, I can angle the Zoom on the ball mount, allowing it to face me directly so I can view my levels and video at the same time. I'm thinking of buying additional mounts, as it has many other uses other than just sitting on the hotshoe of a camera.

[0.75 lb] Seeing as how it is so difficult to find a Camera that can be used as a WebCam as well as a CamCorder, Using the Hotshoe Ball Mount to mount a Samsung HMX-S10 CamCorder atop of a Canon XL1 (set as our WebCam). This allows us to aim the CamCorder and record exactly at what the WebCam is braodcasting.

[Tilt] This light is bright, compact and it can take weather. It can also run on a brick battery with the the battery accessory plate. I use this on all my location shoots and it's a really rugged and durable fixture. I haven't seen anything like this on the market that can deliver a Fresnel punch with this kind of footprint. A way different experience than a panel light.

[0.75 lb] This is great light for Run and Gun outdoor setups. Wish it was Bicolor, but with a set a filters is does just fine in just about every outdoor setup I need a nice pop! 4 times the power of a light panel, single source, and focusable. Also weather resistant which is nice in outdoor setups. Best light I own.
