[37 mm] I'm convinced that the Olympus kit lens, 14-42mm EZ, is the ideal lens for street photography and is far better than many other kit lenses offered by other camera manufacturers. This auto-open cap allows instant access to cameras using this lens, reducing time wasted fiddling with standard caps which have to be removed before use. I have several that I use on which ever cameras I choose any given day. The result; fewer missed shots.

[Front] This auto open lens cap has been a huge benefit! It truly does open automatically when I turn the camera on, and closes when I turn it off, doing its job of keeping the lens safe and is a genuinely perfect addition to camera operation. Easy to attach and guarantees no loss of lens cap.

[0.055 lb] What you don't see in the photo is that the cap's opening is usually closed, and opens automatically to what the photo shows when the camera is turned on.


The lens itself is Olympus' little pancake lens for the OM series. Once you screw this cap onto the lens' threads, it's in position and works as described. Automatically opens when the camera is turned on, closes when it turns off.


Has a very low height once installed and since it's screwed onto the lens, I don't have to worry about it popping off when the camera is in my bag or pocket.

[Front] I have this on the 14 - 42 Olympus pancake lens. It works well and I don't know why it isn't I included with the lens in the first place.

[37 mm] The Olympus 12-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ lens is a compact design with a power extension feature when the camera is turned on. Adding this Olympus auto cap further improves the convenience of the lens by eliminating the step of removing the lens cap. It does prevent using add on filters but it detaches easily if that need should arise.

[Snap-On] This is so useful. It beats taking your lens cap off and on and keeps your lens protected from dust when not in use. Simple to use. Just turn on your camera and it opens automatically. Very stylish as well.

[0.055 lb] This works really well, and keeps me from fishing all pockets looking for the lens cap, or dropping it in the dirt.
Opens and closes on it's own without electronic connection to the lens.
I wish I had one for other lenses I own.

[0.055 lb] Convenient, won't lose the lens cap, and it opens very quickly when the camera is turned on. As others have said, wish other lenses came with this. It is especially important for this lens because it is so slim that a regular lens keeper cannot stay on it. Minor issue is that if you accidentally scrape it against something it will come off from the lens, but that has been relatively rare.

[Front] Simple, effective, turn the camera on, lens opens and lens cap opens. Elegant!
