This pair of large, 54" Chimera 54" Barndoors for Large Softbox Set of 2attach to the short side of the Lightbank's speed stripes to help control flare in the lens. Available in pairs for the Lightbank's short or long sides.

Q: 2. Would this work with my flash?

A: If by flash you mean speedlight, then it technically could work if you can find the right adaptor for it, but it probably wouldn't have enough power to make it work. I would recommend just getting a monolight or other strobe unit in order to use softboxes like this.

Q: 3. What is the difference between this and a grid?

A: These barndoors are useful in preventing glare that could bounce back to the camera as well as minimizing light spill. A grid focuses the entire beam down and the size of the beam would be dependent on the size of the grid (in degrees). For example, a 40 degree grid would yield a less focused beam versus a 20 degree.

Q: 4. Are these adjustable? Meaning, can I pan / tilt the doors to adjust the beam to my liking?

A: These barndoors would be adjustable being that they are made of lightweight aluminum and a rigid fabric.

Q: 5. Is this just as hard to set up as the 24x78 strip box? Any recommendations on large or extra large soft boxes that are easy to set up?

A: Assembling this box is about the same as the other Impact Luxbanx boxes.

A: The TheImpact Luxbanx Extra Large Rectangular Softbox (54 x 72") has a weight of 8.5 lb / 3.8 kg, not including the speed ring. A speed ring can weigh 1-2 lb.

Q: 10. What's the fully assembled depth of this box ?

A: This softbox would measure 30" deep when assembled.

[23 x 7 x 6.5"] For my purposes I actually prefer these least expensive Chimera softboxes because the front diffusion panel is flush to the edges. The black rim created by the recessed panels of the Super Pros just make things more difficult for me shooting products and food. They also transmit almost two stops more light from the same head without the baffle installed and a stop more with the baffle installed, even though they are all white inside. Theyre simpler to assemble also, with the front diffuser permanently attached. 5

[3 lb] I use this box on location and in studio. It gives a soft broad light, and folds up fairly small in its own case (it's smaller when broken down than the medium Chimera box). This versions does not have a removable front, although the inner baffle will come out if you want. A great product, as with all Chimera boxes I've tried. 5

[3 lb] Such a large source! Quality I was not expecting from Impact honestly. The holes that the rods slide through are long sleeves so it seems more secure and less likely to rip. The box is easy to setup with the impact speedring. You don't have to apply a crazy amount of pressure, so that's nice. Oh and it came with an extra rod too! 5

[3 lb] Didn't realize how big this sucker is! I probably should have gotten one a bit smaller. This thing produces amazing light. Chimera makes some great products!! Will buy other products again soon!! 5

[3 lb] This is the biggest softbox I've ever had by far.� I'm loving it so far. I used it for a key light on a shoot of some kids, and it worked perfectly.� It took up a lot of space in a small room, though.� Very clean light (good color temperature). 5
