Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm using my SLR for exposure and was wandering what ASA to clock in to my camera to equal an Exposure Index of 50?

A: ASA and ISO are the same thing - they just changed the name like CPS to Hz. But the exposure on this film is really simple: f/16 in bright daylight, open up a little if it's overcast. Exposure is generally fixed in post-production (computer or positive print). --Gary

Q: 2. Is there additional information on developing the film using d-76 developer?

A: D-76 is a negative film developer and thus cannot be used for Tri-X which is a reversal or positive image film. Motion picture film should only be developed by a professional motion picture laboratory. They have the machines and the staff experienced in that process. Doing this at home has been done but it is not recommended due to the great complexity and expense.

Q: 3. When does this film generally expire? Also where on the actual can/box does it say the expiration date because I've looked on both 100' daylight spools and 400' mags and can't find any expiration date.

A: We sell film that will be good for at least 6 months or we note on the sales page that it's close dated and give the expiry date. You'd need to contact Kodak for the expiration date location as it may be either on the box or on the tape that is used to seal the canister: https://bit.ly/2RIKQ3F

Q: 4. When the film expire?

A: Our film stock generally has an expiration date from 6 month to 1 year from now.

Q: 5. Where can you get the exposed film processed?

A: There are very few (if any) labs left in NYC, so I, like the other three posters, sent my footage to Cinelab in New Bedford, Massachusetts. They do great work with processing and telecine, plus they don't have minimum quantities so you can just send in a roll or two and they won't give you a hassle.

Q: 6. Does this film come on a daylight spool?

A: Yes, the 100ft version comes on a standard 16mm black daylight spool for loading into most cameras. The longer lengths come on cores.

Q: 7. I don't want to buy the whole spreader, can I just buy the part on the head? Thanks!

A: To only get certain components of the Sachtler Mid-Level Carbon Fiber Spreader for flowtech 100, you must buy them ala carte from Sachtler directly.

Q: 8. Is this film compatable with a magazine cine kodak 16mm camera?

A: If your camera works on one side perforation yes.

Q: 9. Does this head use the same base plates as manfrotto?

A: No, this does not use the same quick release plate as Manfrotto. It uses the proprietary QR8PRO quick release plate. https://bhpho.to/3tqPKm6

Q: 10. Does this come with the travel case?

A: no this does not come with a travel case

[-55 to -45 dB] I ordered these Thor Fiber units as a suggestion from a pal; boy am I glad I took his advice. These little babies are awesome! and for the price they can't be beat. On top of that they had awesome tech support and helped get my issue resolved pertaining to frame rate as soon as I called. I'll be using these for now versus spending a small fortune on Telecast every time I need a quick fix.

[Single Mode] 6 strand LC cable works well. Very flexible and is weatherproof.
However this is NOT tactical cable don't roll any tanks over it!
Works well with LC couplers, I have joined 3 together with no issues.
Cable comes coiled very small. I laid it out in the sun for a few hours and removed most of the cable's coil memory.

[9 µm] While I wasn't a fan of the cost at first, this is certainly a product where we are getting what we paid for. Cars and trucks of all sizes run over these cables all the time while we are trying to set things up, and after a year, the cables still look new- no signs of damage or even wear. They have sat outside for over a month at a time, in the rain and snow (minus the ends), and they just work great.
