Q: 1. What is the length of the strap ?

A: 20.4724 inches. (520 mm) total length

Q: 2. is this compatible with the Explore series backpacks too?

A: According to Shimoda, all Shimoda straps are compatible with all Shimoda bags. The only issue is color matching - they do not offer the Action X strap style in the Blue Nights or Sea Pine colors. However, there is no issues with using the Plus straps on an Explore backpack.

Q: 3. is this compatible with the Explore series backpack too?

A: We are not aware of this being compatible with different options beyond the Action X Backpacks.

Q: 4. Will these work with the new explore v2 backpacks?

A: No. The following unit is for Shimoda Designs Action X30 Backpack, Action X50 Backpack, or Action X70 Backpack.

Q: 5. size?

A: The pouch measures 8" x 11" (20.3 x 27.9 cm).

Q: 6. Do these straps accommodate the use of a Peak Design capture clip?

A: It would be a bit of a tight fit, though it is possible. Shimoda has a video showing how to mount the Capture on the Shimoda Plus Strap. You can see the video here. https://bit.ly/2OMCg62. This should give some idea on how this can be done.

Q: 7. Can the ballast bag be emptied for travel, or would you recommend against it?

A: According to Triad-Orbit, you could theoretically unzip the bags and empty them, but the zipper is slightly hidden. The steel shot is in a secondary, thinner zippered pouch inside the main bag. The only downside would be filing it wherever you're traveling to. For example, using dry sand would have less than half the weight of the ballast material that the bag currently has inside.

Q: 8. Are the red straps red? They look orange.

A: According to the manufacturer, the color is listed as Arches Red.

Q: 9. What's the width of this strap?

A: The Viviana Straps Chest Extreme for Lavalier Microphones is 1-3/8" (30 mm) wide.

Q: 10. What exactly are these for? I'm about to buy a Packington and have a few large lenses (60-250 F4, etc.)

A: the v bridge gives extra cushioning for a camera with lens mounted sitting in the bottom of the bag.

[0.2 lb] I like them. So far they work really well. They seem substantial enough to last. Where you latch to lock down the tightness should last good as long as you don't brute force it to much. Be a little gentle with the locking part and take good care of it and you should be fine. I've locked down a tripod and some waters. They work for me. -Jonathan C 5

[0.2 lb] I have one of the f-stop packs and these straps are great for securing gear to the outside. Tripod, water bottles, sleeping pad, you name it. Easy to attach and easy to adjust cinch tight. I have 2 pair, I will likely get another pair one of these days. 5

[Coyote brown] This is universal webbing with plastic buckles that comes handy for holding tight any piece of equipment. I don't use it for lenses, I use it to attach tripod to several different camera bags and backpacks. 5
