The Vanguard 8x32 Endeavor ED Binoculars Green Blackfrom Vanguard 8x32 Endeavor ED Binoculars Green Blackfeature a nitrogen-filled housing and extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements, equipping this optic for outdoor performance in low light and harsh weather conditions. This configuration from the Endeavor series has 8x magnification and a 6.6' minimum focus distance that is impressive for midrange binoculars. Their close focus capability, in addition to a long 17.5mm eye relief and wide 58° apparent viewing angle, make these 8x binoculars ready to handle almost any glassing task, including birding and hunting.

Vanguard outfitted the Endeavor ED binoculars with a high-transmission optical path that transmits bright images with minimal fringing and enhanced contrast. Complementing the multi-coated ED lenses are the V-Max and emerald coatings, which increase light transmission and enhance the full spectrum of color, especially the natural shades of green. The phase-corrected BAK4 prisms render crisp details and maximum color fidelity. The resulting view is saturated with color and sharp right up to the edge of the binoculars' field of view.

A rubber-armored and weather-sealed housing helps the Endeavor ED deliver reliable performance rain or shine. The slip-resistant textured rubber grip is also applied to the center focus wheel, which will come in handy when attempting fine focus adjustments while wearing gloves or with wet hands. Twist-up rubber eyecups, flip-down objective covers, and an ergonomic dual-bridge design add user-friendly handling features to match the Endeavor ED binoculars' premium optics.

[8x] While birding on the Texas Gulf coast we came across a binocular review in Bird Watcher's Digest which rated the Vanguard Endeavor 8x42 the highest of a set of a dozen or so competing brands some priced considerably high. We ordered a pair from bhphotovideo and have to say we are delighted with them. They are very sharp and bright comparing for sharpness with a pair of Zeiss 10x30 Conquest which retail for about $$ At 1.6 lb they are not particularly light but neither are any of the others in this class. Ideal for birding.

[8x] So Is the Vanguard Endeavor ED II 8x32 Better?
No. the original Vanguard ED 8x32 is better.
Why?
Because 1) except when the EDII's yellowish coatings are cutting haze at long distances or occasional flare, it is sharper and more detailed, 2) it has more neutral color rentions, and 3), and most importantly, it has the relaxed viewing quality of the best Swarovski's, with uniform sharpness throughout its sweet spot or field of view, free from the sensed tensions from a conflicted optical formula, but it is also sharper and more detailed than the Swarovski's across its field of view, and more like the Zeisses in the latter regard.
I still recommend the original ED. And for $250, it is a ridiculously cheap purchase. You won't want to stop looking through them unless you live on a prairie where there is simply nothing to see.

[32 mm] I've been using these for hiking, hunting and general nature viewing and am very happy with them. They are pleasant to look through, even for long periods of time. The colors are vivid and accurate. I have taken them out in some very wet conditions and have not seen any signs of leakage. I have only two minor complaints. First, the rubber objective lens covers don't attach very securely. I already lost one while hiking through brush. Second, the eyecups are made from a very soft, sticky rubber which attracts dirt and is kind of a pain to clean.

[8x] These binoculars have excellent optics. The view is bright and clear, very sharp (in the middle) with nice contrast and colors. They are much better than my non-ED Nikons. I feel it's definitely worth paying a premium for ED glass. No mechanical issues either - the focus wheel operated smoothly, the hinge is solid, and open bridge design makes it easy to hold with one or two hands

[1.925 lb] I bought these binocs for birding usage to obtain closer focusing distance than my great performing Leica trinovid 10x40B's and obtained that plus bonuses of super brightness, clariity, weatherproofness, etc. with only a slight increase in weight! I am more than pleased with my selection, especially considering the comparative price with its competition.

[32 mm] I am happy to find out that these little binoculars have excellent optical qualities. I purchased them for my wife due to their size for theatre and sporting events, thinking they would be fine. I normally use a nearly $3,000 pair of Swarovski's for birdwatching. As it turns out I take the Endeavor ED binocs on many of my birding outings. They are nearly as good as my Swarovski's in terms of clarity and color rendition. When compared side by side the Swarovski's may yield slightly more light in very low light conditions. I have been selling and repairing optics for nearly 60 years. I own the company and have honed my skills at judging optics without reference to reputation. The Vanguard Endeavor ED are by far the best that I have seen anywhere near this price. I bought the original pair for my wife who is not as interested in birding as I and loves the small size. After seeing the amazing results of the Vanguard Endeavor ED, I purchased one for myself and will use them in a variety of circumstances especially where lugging a big heavy pair of binocs is not convenient. I carry them everywhere now.
