On a five foot tall base the unit boasts that it will go from the ground to eleven feet tall. I find that to be pretty close to true. A: I don't have it mounted and open right now, but the specs here say 6' max extension from fulcrum, so I'm going to say you'd be safe with a 7-8' HDMI cable, right? You can always tie up the extra near the monitor which can attach to the base (near the fulcrum). If I were shopping for one (good idea, by the way) I would look for something flexible and light.
