Adding color to a specific region of your image, the LEE Filters 100mm Soft-Edge Graduated Blue 4 Filterfrom LEE Filters 100mm Soft-Edge Graduated Blue 4 Filterproduces a deep, neutral blue coloration to isolated portions of the frame with neutral results maintained in the opposite half of the image. This filter's coloring is densest at one edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged transition between the color and clear areas. A: I know people who do use them hand held, but personally I use the Lee filter holder for all my lee filters.

A: I hand hold the filter in front of the lens, that allows me to move it up or down, depending on the affect I want. Be sure to hold the filter against the lens or you will get some reflection in the picture.

[0.2 lb] Ive long awaited to add this filter to my collection, and now that I have it, I feel my photography has launched to a new level. The three additional stops added immensely helps to balance the exposure when you have a much brighter part of your composition, such as with a sunset or sunrise. This allows you to still expose for the bright parts without under-exposing the darker parts like the foreground and losing detail in the shadows. The resin filter is light and flexible, yet seemingly durable. Once in the filter holder, you can adjust it to align with the brighter parts of your picture by moving the filter up and down. The filter comes with a carrying case, but I recommend also using a cloth to wrap the filter before placing it in the case. I noticed when I first placed the filter in my holder, the edges scraped lightly. Fortunately this wont affect my images, but it shows the filter can scratch easily if you dont take full precautions to protect it. I recently stacked this 0.9 Grad ND with my Big Stopper with great success. To avoid unwanted colorization, place the 0.9 grad in the second filter slot from the lens first, set your exposure, and then slide the 10-stop ND into the first slot behind it and readjust the shutter speed. 5

[Rigid Plastic] I bought this bad boy after damaging my previous one wrestling an anaconda in the swamps. As soon as I pulled this out of my camera bag, hordes of screaming girls poured from the surrounding forest gasping at my incredible 0.9 ND. Comments such as it's so smooth and my god there's nothing 'soft' about that beauty' were commonplace. As I pushed it into the tight slot there were further gasps from the adoring masses, and as the light dimmed I got my shot off, it was perfect. The hard contrast between the bright mountainous top and the dark bushy bottom of the frame was eliminated, more gasps followed until I was done, the shot was 'in the bag' and I pulled the soft grad out of it's tight slot and carefully packed it away to disappointing 'awwww's from the crowd. My word what a day, if you don't own a 0.9 ND grad, get out and get one now (get the Lee ones) all joking aside, they are worth it. 5

[0.2 lb] This is the third 100 x 150mm Soft-Edge Graduated Neutral Density Filter by LEE Filters that I've purchased from B&H. This purchase of the .03 completes my series of three Soft-Edge Graduated Neutral Density Filters. I previously bought the .06 and .09 filters. I expect I will use the .06 most of the time, but I know there will be those occasions when I'll need the weaker .03 or stronger .09 to balance the scene correctly. If you do a lot of landscape photography, these type of filters are essential and LEE filters are excellent quality, fit in most of the holders available and come in a great Cordura nylon case which some of the other manufacturers don't supply with their filters. 5
