A: I use mine for astronomy with telescopes. But I think 20mm is going to be too wide for most long range birdwatching. For birdwatching I use a Swarovski 95mm spotting scope which has magnifications of 30x - 70x. This 20mm eyepiece only has a magnification of 31x with a 100mm scope. So I'd recommend a much shorter focal-length eyepiece than 20mm. Shorter focal-length eyepieces give greater magnification. So a 10mm might be better for long-range birdwatching. These eyepieces are very nice on telescopes. I assume they're very nice on spotting scopes too.

You would not be able to fully closed the bag when attaching Pentax SMC 8-24mm Zoom Eyepiece. The lenght of the case on the outer curve is 16.5''. The case has 2 zippers, 1 will give you access to the tripod mount. The second one will allow access to mount your eyepiece.
