The transmitter has a built-in mic, or you can use a separately available external mic with 3.5mm output (Plugin Power supported). Receiver unit has a talk-back function that allows the camera operator to communicate clearly with the subject. The mic has a range of up to 150 feet.

This mic system allows a subject and a device operator to communicate, eliminating the need for a separate intercom system. A 3.5mm headphone jack/audio output is provided on both the transmitter and the receiver to facilitate this feature.

For mounting or wearing the microphone and receiver, a belt clip and an arm band are included. The arm band enables you to attach the transmitter to a subject that is wearing clothing that cannot accommodate a belt clip. An included carrying pouch will help to protect the transmitter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with my VIXIA HF G50?

A: Yes will work with the Canon vixia g50 no problem this mic system comes with a 3.5mm cable to connect to your Canon's 3.5mm mic input.

Q: 2. can i plug in a lavalier mic for better quality recording? I'm concern that if my subject wears this on his belt then the sound quality might be compromised

A: Yes, you can plug a lavalier for better sound.

Q: 3. Is there a bar display or some battery charge indicator?

A: Yes, There is a charge LED (single LED not a bar) indicator on both the transmitter and receiver.

Q: 4. I bought a Sony ECM-AW4 Bluetooth Wireless Microphone System for my Alpha 6300. It only worked intermittently. The camera sometimes did not recognize the microphone or give it power. Or the blue tooth connection failed. When it worked it was fine. Did anyone have this experience and find a way around it?

A: I had the same issue, specifically with my Samsung smart phone. It also failed at times, after a few months with both my camera system and iphone/ipads. I would not recommend this system.

Q: 5. Can you use multiple (+4) SonyECM-AW4 Bluetooth Wireless Microphone System in same room?

A: I have only used one paired set and in such can't answer this question for using 4.However, my advise is to have sender and receiver facing each other for good quality. If the body conceals the microphone set quality deteriorates significantly.Best have it fixed under your dress, but facing the camera/receiver.

Q: 6. I have a Sony HDR-FX7 camcorder, should this mic be compatible? I can not seem to get it to work

A: I looked up the specs for your camera on Amazon, and found this: There is no way to connect an external audio source. The only audio option is the on-board mic....which is not bad, but not something you'd want to use for most productions...especially live streaming. I suppose it would be possible to crack open the handle near the mic, disconnect the on-board mic and rig up some kind of direct connection, but I've never tried it. It's a great camera...lots of options for people like me who live in the SD/HD world. But, when it comes to recording quality audio for video productions, I have to use a separate mic and audio recorder and then sync it up with the video in post. Not fun, but it works! So, there you go. No external audio possibility on your camera. Sorry for the bad news, but hope this helps. Stephen

Q: 7. If I use a splitter and connect 3 or 4 of these, will there be phase alignment issues and sound weird?

A: Hmm...how would that work? As far as I know, there's a fixed relationship between the mic and the receiver- where would you add the splitter?

Q: 8. Is there any way to set the frequency or digital coding so two identical sets can be used without interference?

A: The frequency can not be changed and you can have up to two systems in the same room without interference

Q: 9. Does it work with Canon XA30? Why no sound recorded when plug to Mic, Input 1 or Input 2 ? Please help.

A: Please email us at provideo@a href= http://bhphoto.com target= _blank bhphoto.com/a so we can properly assist you.

Q: 10. Hi, I have a Sony HDR-PJ760 camcorder. Is this mic ECM-AW4 compatible with my camcorder? Thank You.

A: Yes, I use the ECM-AW4 with my Sony HDR-CX760 and it works great. Just use the mic input on the side of the camera.

[0.7 lb] I just got the Sony ECM and I love them. Only thing I realize is once they're connect do not turn them off because it will disconnect the pairing to each but other then that they're great!

[0.7 lb] I purchased this system to mount on my Panasonic UX 180 for a reality show we are producing. We needed a system that is small, easy to use and sounds decent. It was important to find a system that incorporated small-in-size transmitters and receivers in order to conserve weight and space on the camera rig since we already have a Teradek broadcast module and external battery mounted. I was able to Velcro the receiver to the camera's connection swing door. We fired it up and was very happy with the sound quality for what we required and the range was more than adequate. We tested it out with the built-in mic and one of our wired lav mics. Both worked well. Lastly, the cost of the product is extremely reasonable for what you get. We will be using it for recorded and live broadcast of our reality show.

[0.7 lb] For those of us replacing thousands of dollars worth of UHF mics which are about to become obsolete, this is a surprisingly robust choice. I've tested four of these (at the same time) in NYC (mid-town Manhattan) as well as in downtown Washington DC , and they are flawless. Per other reviewers, you can hear a bit of latency if you're monitoring the receiver output in real time, but so far, it hasn't shown-up on the actual video playback. The other most-frequent complaint I saw in the reviews was frequency interference (dropouts or complete loss of audio) in large auditoriums. Since I always work in smaller venues (only up to large conference rooms), I took a chance on these and ended up buying four, as my test results remained 100% positive in the smaller venues (even in NYC & DC). Just be sure to use the Sony-supplied cable between the receiver and your camera (or from each of multiple receivers to your usual splitter to your camera), as you need 25db to 35db of attenuation which is built-in to the Sony-supplied cable. Thanks to a couple of other reviewers for mentioning this in passing.

[0.7 lb] Just when I was ready to give up on a wireless mic system for my camcorder, I found this Sony Bluetooth system. The other two systems captured noise from everywhere. The audio quality with this system is clear and precise. It works well with lapel microphone patch also. It is good for long distance shots to ensure good solid transmission. Two thumbs up!

[0.7 lb] I use this microphone for shooting quick training videos for my company. This microphone is super easy to connect and use. I used the windscreen and filmed outside on a windy day and you couldn't hear the wind at all. I have had no connectivity or dropped sound issues. I would recommend this for anyone that wants easy and well priced Bluetooth microphones for DSLR cameras.

[0.7 lb] I use this set up to capture audio when making aikido videos. Much easier than Sennheiser lavs, and better than Sennheiser shotgun. Easier than Zoom H1 +lavs as there's no need to sync in post. My subject is free to move about and speak in his normal voice.

[0.7 lb] This works great. I use it to record some lectures. It works for three hours with a pair of batteries. It is light enough to use as lavalier microphone and sensitive enough that I can put it on the desk. It also captures other voices from audience when the speaker is not talking. This is helpful for me to record the questions during the lecture.

[0.7 lb] I can't believe this works as well as it did. I do recommend getting your own 3.5 mm cable to connect to the camera; the one provided doesn't work well and keeps the sound really low.
