A: The DJI Ronin-SC Gimbal Stabilizer has a maximum payload capacity of 4.85 pounds, so it can balance a Sony a7 IV with a light lens. However, the gimbal's camera controls are not compatible with this camera.

Q: 2. Can it be used without the egg crate? All the pics show the eggcrate attached.

A: The Nikon D780 has been tested on the Ronin SC and would be compatible. However, You may need to counterbalance the heavy lens with counterweights. The DJI RS2 or the RSC2 would be a better choice and they handle more weight and longer lenses.

Q: 5. How good is it with 4-ply cutting? I presume the video showing the ease of use is with a 2 ply.

A: 4-ply cutting works well with this cutter.

A: The combination of S1 and 24-105mm lens weights 3.75 pounds, which is right on the edge of the Ronin-SC's load capacity. It is possible you will be able to balance this combo on the gimbal, however we would tend to recommend the Ronin-S instead for a larger full frame mirrorless camera with a longer lens. [2 RU] Most XLR patchbays out there are much more closely settled than this one with 12 or 16 patches. This was exactly what I was looking for, very well constructed with solid connections and the price is certainly right. I'd buy another one for sure. 5
